I fit BFG KDW2 315/30/18 on the rear of my LSX Z28. Used the BFH (Big F×××ing hammer Mod to inner fenders, and trimmed the outter fender (approx 5mm) with a dremel. Sanded and painted the exposed metal to prevent rust. My car was lowered 1.75" all around on QA1s. No rubbing whatsoever. I dragged, drifted, scca the car with ZERO rubbing. Seems like you way took a lot more time and not as clean as the way i did mine.
No it fits inside the wheel just fine. I removed it bc if you jack it up and let the axle hang then it hits and it's annoying. As long as the car is on the ground or axle on jack stands it's fine. But the car is lowered quite a bit, idk if it would hit at stock ride height or not.
Just got a set of Torque Wheel 2s for by 2000 Trans Am, 275s front and 315s in the back, they clear but just barely, might have to do this or get spacers
Nice video bro. I've got a 2001 Trans Am and I'm wanting the same wheels. I was thinking about 18 x 9.5 all the way around. What wheel and tire sizes do you run? Did you have to do anything for clearance on the front? You did a beautiful job, I hate butcher hacks
I have 305 30 19s on mine with the C7 GS 5 spoke rims they don't rub, granted i do have a spacer but you can tuck a set of 305s on the 4th gen without any rubbing.
John Avi me and my dad built up his 2000 z28 it has an ls3 all bored and polished internals upgraded exhaust, transmission, rear end things awesome puts down about 650hp things insane built her up from a roller
That looks about the best I've seen on RUclips, compared to the dastardly conventional hammer beat-up, like what you showed. Thank God you didn't "roll your fender lip," which not only seems to instantly destroy (de-value) the car while simultaneously creating a prodigious future rust trap. I choose to run the stock 275/40-17 that came on the car, as I like to keep things stock. But you did the best version of this "clearing" that I've seen!
De-value a fourth gen? You act like these piles of shit are worth anything. My 02 z28 isn't even worth enough to trade in and it's a 7/10 completely stock camaro that doesn't even have the infamous top bubbling. But since it is barely worth the metal(what little there actually is) it's made of, I am gonna pull the ls1 and 6 speed and put it into a superior body. Probably a fox body. At least those cars actually stayed together after a few thousand miles
@@damianlindsey6177 Well, any car is devalued by accumulating mileage. I love the 4th gen, although they are difficult to work on because of the engine packaging. I think the 4th gen was the closest that the Camaro encroached upon the Corvette in not only performance, but sleek appearance. But I respect your opinion.
the thing about the trap door is they should of incorporated a solution to the issue from the factory. to think of having to remove the driveshaft, remove the rear end, remove the exhaust, then your just getting to the pump job.... I did a pump on a suburban and just that was a pain in the ass and I was able to drop the gas tank out of the truck. ive seen cars such as the 2000 honda civic with a trap door built in from the factory. Now most of the "trap doors" aren't even trap doors but they are just slice open and peeled back. I can see something like that effecting structural integrity. but would you really notice the difference? would you get more body roll? what if you welded in a strong steel bolt in door would that be better? I have a 95 z28 salvaged … some punk shoved me off the highway in a honda .. barely any damage done to it and they "totaled" it …. that honda was SMASHED. besides the point... being salvaged im really thinking about doing this to save all the hassle …. breaking down my car just to do a 100 dollar part … I cant imagine what a mechanic would charge for that labor especially in California . I bet it would be well over 1000 bucks . I might pull all the crap off once so I can do some welding... but I certainly wont do it twice …
It is all about the wheels offset. I run 315x30xr18, 25.45" wheel/tire height with a 56mm offset wheel and had rubbing on both sides using the stock axle and panhard. Had to hammer mostly in three places to clear it. With a new axle, I can clear when centered, but that axles is equivalent to having 1/4 inch spacers on a stock set-up and that is with hammering. Oddly, lowering the car up to 1.5" doesn't impact the rubbing much. Most likely, you will need to hammer the inner wheel well and probably modify the bump stop. There are write ups in forums on how to do it yourself. But, if you get a wheel with a little more offset, it could clear. The wheel offset is the key to miking it fit and with the wrong offset (too low or in toward the body) no amount of hammering will make them fit. Adding spacers is basically adding offset. Get it right because there aren't many cheap tire options and they can cut through pretty quick. I went through a set getting it right.
I appreciate the input guys. i really dont want to hit my car with a big f**** hammer lol but i wld much rather go wit some wide wheels than sum 22" rims that everyone around here has lol theres a wheel and rims package on oewheels with sumitomo wheels im thinking about getting
yes sir, I really like way it looks with offset though, and I don't really notice the rub until someone sits in the back seat or I drive really hard over dumps … im thinking about some of those spring helper airbags

I have the same set up, i just used spacers on the rear
Roll the fender lip and use a small spacer. Problem solved. Much easier than pointlessly airhammering formed metal to gain 16ths of an inch...

So all four of those rims fit wit wheel adapters?

jeffv2074 I have 315 no spacers..
Jordan Green you have the perfect offset then. 315s on 10" rims will bulge out to much. How wide are your rims? And what is the offset?
jeffv2074 11

good job I have a 96 and 93
Good job man
Thanks buddy! Turned out pretty good! Once the paint dried it looked about the same as the surrounding area!
I love the car bro I’m working for one now love to own one
Man get you one. 5k and you can get a decent F Body. They are getting harder and harder to find every year though. Great cars for the money.

What tire size was it?
What causes bad bumping noise in back of 94 ta on hard take off??? Anyone know?? New air shocks btw
Air pressure too low in the bags causing your rear end to hit the bump stops.
I love your channel man I have some questions I'd love to ask you. Is there any way we could do like a FaceTime or call?
Nice
Air hammer good idea
Does anyone know if i have to make mods to run 17x11 zr1 with 315/35/r17 on my 98 z28 (stock height)
Pichael Thompson roll the fenders and beat the inerfender
Pichael Thompson and I have 8 mill spacer

Good job. Did you need to roll the fenders?
kenyanr1 No, no signs of rubbing on the outside.
Is it the same bolt pattern as the 98 firebird
yes all 67-02 f bodys use 4.75x5 bolt pattern
HorsepowerTube did u have to use spacer
No. It's good now. I think it barely rubbed on hard cornering.
Mine is lowered on 315s hits on the outside of the tire sometimes only if I have fat assess in the back
6spdls1z28triz 250
Trim the outer fender with a dremel. You only have to taje off maybe 5mm or so. Leave a lip though so the fender is still ridged.
Did this to my z28 with 315s. No rubbing whatsoever. My car is lowered 1.75" and I drag, scca, drift with zero rubbing.
I guess it depends on the wheels I have maybe an inch of clearance on the inside. I'll go over it with a Dremel.
Convex!!
I used a baseball bate
It's convex, not concave.
It's concave after I hit something with it, lol. But yeah thanks.
Just ruined an Fbody SAd
you guys running fat tires and I just switch to 16x8 replica rims with some offset and I rub like crazy
That will do it too! You can always measure your existing wheels to get an idea what offset you need.
yes sir, I really like way it looks with offset though, and I don't really notice the rub until someone sits in the back seat or I drive really hard over dumps … im thinking about some of those spring helper airbags
