    THE RH&DR
Built as a public Railway, to prove the "Minimum Gauge" principle. (15inch gauge as a viable useful commercial success). So ran a full passenger & freight timetable originally. The Railway even proved during World War Two, that you can run Military armoured trains capable of Shooting Down the German Luftwaffe, and has at least one ME110 to its credit. Indeed there are numerous WW2 bomb craters along both sides of this line, as it was attacked frequently. Today its mainly tourist passenger traffic, and of course the line is now approaching its 100th Anniversary !!!

This railway built in 1925 was intended to prove that 15inch Gauge is the "Minimum Gauge" that can be used for commercial success of a railway. When it opened it was THE public transport system across the Romney Marsh. As it ran a full public passenger timetable, and freight. Including Fish trains, and stone for road construction. Indeed in more modern times (1970's - 80's) they ran a daily schools train, which took 21 School buses off the roads ! The railways locomotives are one third sized replicas of such famous locomotives as "Flying Scotsman" (itself preserved in working order). Which reveals the railway was intended to be a "mainline in miniature", running at express train speeds. Hence most of the locomotives use the 4-6-2 "Pacific" express passenger wheel arrangement. Only two were built specifically with freight in mind, with a 2-8-2 "Mountain" wheel arrangement for freight. Despite their size these locomotives are quite capable of reaching 40mph (the scale equivalent of 120mph !) The railway is over 13 miles long, and runs parallel to the Coast between Hythe (near Folkestone) and Dungeness. Today of course it is primarily dealing with Tourists, as there are plenty of bus services around the Marsh Area, for those without a Car.

Merhaba arkadaşım. Bu trenler köyler arsında sefer mi yapıyor. Yoksa hobi eğlence amaçlı yapılmış bir proje mi?
