&ALICENT STARTED IT WHEN SHE WENT BEHIND RHAENYRA's (HER BFF's) BACK AND GOT WITH HER FATHER right after Rhaenyra's mother died. Her fake self righteousness is nauseating. What are you talkin about that you don't think Alicent is at fault?? Are you blinddd. ALSO -- Bastards can be legitimized (as many do in the GoT and Fire and Blood too) House Baratheon is built on a bastard's shoulders fyi. And legitimized bastards can claim the throne. AND REMEMBER WHEN THE NORTH NAMED JON SNOW THEIR KING?? They knew he was a bastard, but they still rebelled against those bullshit norms and made a new norm. And I didn't see anyone being upset about Jon being King of the North. PS-- Daemon's gonna protect Jace, Luce, Joffrey. ALSO Greens only have 3 dragons.

Rhaenyra's kids are as Targaryen as Alicent's kids. Alicent has 0% Valyrian DNA as did Harwin Strong. There is no reason why Rhaenyra's kids would struggle to control dragons but Alicent's wouldn't. Also, all of the Targaryens here have a significantly higher percentage of Valyrian DNA than Daenerys did and she seemed to do just fine.

Laenor, imo, wasn’t wholly committed because he had the whole galavanting with Qarl thing going on and although he absolutely deserves to be with Qarl as per his arrangement with Rhaenyra, he perhaps ought to have worked on balancing his time between his lover and his wife and (step, sort of-) children. Rick is right about the handling of Alicent. She is an extension of the king and marital issues between the king and queen in this time could potentially mean collapse. Also Viserys just isn't that guy. Others would probably want to kill her off but at this point in the story Alicent has a ton of influence. In fact the greens vs the blacks started because it split the court with the greens aka the queen's party and the blacks aka the princess's party. Even in Eastern Asian royal customs they couldn't just get rid of the queens or the queen mothers without there being some extremely complicated process. Also at this point while Rhaenyra is the heir, Viserys is still alive so Alicent's position is unseemly but she's still considered more senior at the moment. Especially since she's also the mother of four of the King's children, two of them being healthy sons. Finally, Viserys just isn't in a position health-wise to severely punish Alicent. They may not be in love but he trusts her and he just reinstated her father as hand which would please House Hightower. Basically, it's not worth the political headache to do something severe about her.

lenor is alive but some random innocent is killed. also with lenor still alive, any children she will have with daemon are also going to be illegitimate. and what about seasmoke given what dragons are supped to be, especially to their rider in that world? and there will be lot more plot holes if he keeps being alive. hope writers kill him by some accident soon.
also the fact that rhaenyra and daemon expect lenor to give up everything but the boyfriend and be a willing tool of them, says a lot about their mindset towards others. this was same as cole asking her to flee to essos. it was too selfish of cole to ask then, it was same for them to ask lenor . fact that he agreed makes his character weak and unlike him as presented before.

When films shoot complex sequences in true night, visibility of the subjects is achieved with complex and expensive lighting, often utilizing huge rigs and cranes. Alicent followed all the rules, did everything right and lived a restricted life of suffering. Alicient hasn't done anything *wrong* - the only wrong thing that she's been involved with was the burning of Harrenhal but she didn't do that. Hell she saved a suicidal Criston Cole and although it got her a loyal servant I genuinely believe she did it because she's a good person, maybe she saw something similar in him with how Rhaenyra "betrayed" him. The worst she's done is driving terror into her kids by telling them Rhaenyra would have them killed _(Which by her behaviour I would also expect her to do)_. In this newest episode she went mad but considering everything she's suffered I can't blame her but I'm just glad she didn't hurt any of the kids.
Meanwhile Rhaenyra was given a great gift, an unpredicented amount of power and agency for a princess, and just does what she wants then whines that she's "trapped". She has a bunch of bastards which she lies about the parentage of. She fucked her uncle while married. Even before her marriage she snuck out and went to a whore house where she nearly fucked her uncle previously. She started off in a haphazard position when named heir due to being a women then proceeded to make it worst and worst by selfishly doing what she wanted instead of conducting herself properly.
By Westrosi society and tradition Rhaenyra is *wrong*. Her kids are not legitamate, they're bastards. She committed adultery regardless of whether or not her husband give permission. And it's all worked out for her.
By the same traditions Alicent has done her job and conducted herself properly and it has not worked out for her - it should be no surprise if she goes full power-hungry for her kids the same way that Rhaenyra is power hungry for herself. It must feel like she's on crazy pills with everyone.
I just wish people would put themselves into the story when thinking about stuff and not just go "I'm on Rhaenyra's side".
The whole fun thing about the Dance of Dragons is that, by the end, both sides are just total shits.

Like, from the perspective of the audience we care more about Laenor than this rando no-name character who died in his place, so we’re just happy he’s not really dead, but objectively it’s still a heinous crime they committed in cold blood lol, even if the victim wasn’t their relative.

@@sh0cktim3 But that's just my point - in either case, Rhaenyra has just had a man murdered for nothing other than her selfish desires and ambitions. The audience is inclined to care less because it ended up NOT being Laenor, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter that much, because it still points to the same negative qualities in Rhaenyra that she's willing to stoop so low.
Alternatively, they could have just not had her involved at all and had Daemon bump off Laenor on his own initiative, like in the book, if they wanted to keep her hands actually clean.

There are members of House Targaryen that are weak or craven, and then there are those like Aegon The Conqueror, Visenya, Daemon, Rhaenyra, and Daenerys. I knew from the moment he took one step in Vhagar’s direction (let alone dare to approach her and even claim her) and saw him fly without being fastened to the saddle while the same theme that played when Daenerys proved herself in her story played in the background that he was a true Targaryen.

I understand everything, but he literally defended himself from 4 children, took a stone for self-defense, did not hit him first, only hit him when the guy with a knife rushed at him. They literally bullied him as a child. It's the first one. The second one: the king is their father. And he literally considered it unimportant that his son had no eye. But let’s discuss at this moment who named his grandchildren what. The funniest thing about it all is Alicent. Who, because of her father, was forced to marry the king, but... she looked after him, washed him, slept with him (when he had ulcers all over his body, no arms and soon no eye), took care of him. And all she gets in response to the suffering of their common son is attention again to Rhaenyra. I just don’t understand and will never understand people who in this series are on the side of Rhaenyra’s children and Rhaenyra herself.....

I definitely agree with Eric that from Alicent’s pov it would be maddening to know something that could put her own family in power, know everyone else knows it too, but that no one will act on it because of Viserys and Rhaenyra’s word. But at the same time, it also just adds to Rhaenyra being right about Alicent that her main issue is resentment and jealousy that Alicent plays by their society’s rules and was put in a situation she didn’t want to be in, sacrificing her own wishes, while Rhaenyra gets the privilege to do what she wants with no real consequences to her position, again because of her and Viserys’s word. It’s like Alicent is partially a symbol for self-righteous people, religious or otherwise, who are mad at the way their life turned out even though they “did everything right” and that other people don’t live like them.

One thing to clear out about dragons is that, Dragons are not something like a property or materialistic object that somebody or a family owns, The moment Laena died Vhagar is free from bounds and can accept whomever she wants to become her Rider, Vhagar accepted Aemond as her rider and the problem was that laenas daughter somehow thought that she owns the dragon cause her mother was the rider which is bullshit.

In one episode of the behind the scenes, the creators said that in this world there are only 3 sources of light: the moon, the sun and fire. So I guess that it was easier to shoot the beach scenes at day and then color grade them, than shooting them at night, as there would be no source of light. Any light would feel artificial and therefore break the rule? That's what I think at least.

Ofcourse the King knew but he's turning a blind eye mainly because of what he screamed during the confrontation. He said "We are family!" which I translated as it doesn't matter if they were bastards because they are sons of Rhy. He was even exhilarated when Rhy proposes to combine their families through marriage. What he's really blind to is the fact that Alicent sees only what his father fed to her from the beginning so she doesn't see what he'd always wanted (for them to be a family). Rhy actually tried mending it with Alicent but she refuses because bitterness is just too deep in her already. She envies what Rhy is capable of getting away with while she upholds the righteousness that limits her to be her true-self.

Rhaenyra had the choice to marry whomever she wanted, Viserys and Alicent didn't care who it was, as long as she married. Rhaenyra could have chosen Harwin, Lannister, anybody; but she abruptly cut the organised tour in half, and went to brothels with his brother and slept with Cole. That's what upset Alicent. Once Viserys saw that Rhaenyra is irresponsible, they brought her the morning tea and forced her to marry Laenor, and Rhaenyra opted to get rid of Otto in exchange. Why wouldn't Alicent be upset over that?

It’s crazy cause when I was watching the episode all I could think about was how great the night time shot was. Shooting day for night is hard and this looked so good to me. I was watching in a completely dark room though and I thought the lighting was just dark enough to sell it but not too dark. This is in no way the same levels of The Long Night. That’s unwatchably dark.
Also you can see the moon is full and if you’re outside on a full moon, the shadows are sharp.
