Laenor looking at everything around him and being like “alright, I’m out” is probably the smartest decision anyone has made in this series.

His decision? He literally just said I will stay with you here to be the husband you deserve and will protect our boys to Rhaenyra. She was the one who set him free for his happiness. Both of them are more happy and more powerful now, just as they wanted.

Rhaenyra's decision. She got him away from Westeros because he was not capable of protecting the child or being a husband and despite all that she still cared enough about him to set him up with a new life away from the ensuing danger. I'd have kill him if not for his mother princess Rhaenys being a dragon rider who I could earn undivided loyalty from should I ensure her only living child a safe and happy life in Essos.

@@MT-UK Him and Viserys, simply for being too much of a good man, imo. Surely he manipulated both Alicent and the king like a fiddle, but the final call was still his. Man literally asked every advisor in the realm who would be the better bride and still chose wrong. Also, despite being his duty since tragedy could claim Rhaenyra just as it did Aemma, by remarrying and having a son after naming a girl his heir, one that would surely already have her succession challenged simply bc of her gender once he passed, pretty much sealed the deal. He should really have seen this coming 😭

@@blurrylinesx8039 No, the manipulation lies solely with her father. If he wasn't there, she wouldn't have devolved into the crazed borderline psycho regardless of whether Viserys married her or not. • @blurrylinesx8039
      @blurrylinesx8039 Год назад +5

@@Tattletale-Delta What i mean is, even if Viserys had married someone else, he would still have created sucession disputes simply for not backtracking on having Rhaenyra as heir, the moment his firstborn son arrived. Had he married Laena for example, Corlys would certainly want that boy to be heir as well, just like all the men in the realm, Rhaenys even warned Rhaenyra about it. The difference is he got really unlucky with the hightowers, and specially Otto, bc I could see those disputes being settled with a marriage like Rhaenyra proposed were the heir a Velaryon. Alicent tho, brainwashed by her father, will never allow that to happen. Viserys also should have taken his family warnings about Otto more seriously. Not his fault for being naive or perhaps just a dreamer, but still a bummer that's how things played out

      *AEGON* *II:* *A* *Comedic* *F-Up*
The more I watch all the Aegon II scenes, the more I'm LMAO! 🤣 Watch Alicent slap Aegon hard at the face and he's like, "What's that for?” Then Aemond blames him when it's really his mother who started those bastard rumors.
It's like Aegon is Johnny Lawrence when Johnny was around the same age. He's all about chasing hot babes and getting drunk. Almost every scene Aegon is in seems hilarious whether it's unintentional or not. Like what did Aegon do this time so Alicent can start hitting and yelling at him?
Alicent should be charged with child abuse. You don't see Rhaenyra laying hands on her children while Alicent is a deranged mother looking like she wants to strangle all her children.
Aegon's greatest hits after two episodes...
      - He pranked Aemond and then lied.
      - He masturbates from a window.
      - He calls his brother a tw@t.
      - He feels indifferent about the throne.
      - He mocks his sister for being so weird.
      - He's into creatures with long legs.
      - He gets completely wasted in a funeral.
      - He gets yelled at by his grandpa.
      - He gets yelled at by his parents.
      - He gets slapped in the face by his mom.
      - He gets blamed by his brother.
Aegon is not harming anybody but is a total f-up. I'm starting to like him! Can you believe he is just second of the same name from Aegon the Conqueror? He's the typical horny teenager. Even his parents seem to know he's already an f-up from all the screaming towards his face!
I know people be hating on Rhaenyra on some of her irresponsible crap she's done. But has Aegon showed any good qualities being a king? Hell no. He's the guy who gets high on cocaine and Ecstasy. Only thinks about getting laid. Jerks off to Pornhub at least 3 times per day. So basically like most males in their teens and 20s.
He reminds me of myself and a bunch of other people I know. 🤣 A walking meme waiting to happen. I'm starting to love Aegon. Keep watching every little scene with him. He's quite a character. An on-screen gag. Rhaenyra's so-called challenge for the throne when he seems more mentally challenged like his siblings. And yet, the less destructive between him and the two insecure women who were former besties.
*Aegon* *the* *Fapper* is NOT trying to kill anybody. He doesn't mind if his half older sis will have the throne. He seems to get along with Jace and Luke. He just wants to masturbate and get drunk. Let him, Alicent. Stop pushing your son to something he doesn't want. He's basically Jason Biggs from American Pie. He's no different than Tyrion. Brothels and wine. Harmless recreational activities. Nobody dies. Nobody gets raped.
Aegon is just a squirrel 🐿️ trying to catch a nut.

@@larochejaquelein3680 That's because in fiction, the definitions of "white, black and grey" are all directly tied to who is being affect by it, and people have no reason to care for extras that appeared for like 5 minutes and then were offed, especially when said character its already established to be a killer. It's not like Daemon killed him for being black or his wife for being a woman, it's because their deaths were both means to get what he wanted. Furthermore, as the lines between heroes and villains start to get even more blurry, him killing random characters that barely have screentime is not nearly as bad for the audience as the hand that pimped out his anxious teen daughter to the king or the sleamy guy that set his brother and father on fire without an inch of remorse

Do you remember in one of the first episodes when Viserys is talking to Alicent in front of a big bonfire? He mentions that several Targaryens in the past have been known "dreamers" as he called them. Basically they have the ability to read prophesies & see into future events yet to come. Daenys Targaryen had a prophetic dream of Old Valyria's downfall. That's why her father & a small handful of Targaryens high tailed it over to Dragonstone even though everyone thought they were crazy or stupid. About 13 years later, The Doom wiped out everyone except those that had escaped to Dragonstone. In GoT, Daenerys has a vision when she is trapped inside the House of the Undying after her baby dragons were kidnapped. Viserys had that dream of seeing his son born wearing a crown but he only saw it one time. Even though he tried many times to see that vision again, it never came to him. So he spent his life, or rather the life of Queen Aemma, trying to make that vision-dream come true only to result in miscarriages, still born infants, & a breech birth/emergency C-section gone wrong. Viserys & Alicent's daughter, Helena, has the Targaryen soothsayer abilities. So she talks in riddles, which no one understands, so they think she's either feeble-minded (intellectually stunted) or just batshit crazy...

Not even Rhaneyra herself likes a woman to rule, I can't believe Rhaneyra insists that her bastards have Velaryon blood and she's stealing Baela's right to be head of the Velaryon house because she decided so… Baela doesn't she has to be “queen consort, nor second daughter.” Baela and Rhaena are Velaryon purebloods, not Rhaneyra's bastards.
Rhaneyra just wants the patriarchy to make an exception for her because she is pampered and Viserys made her believe that she is special, when in reality she is a person who doesn't even know how to wipe her butt.
Targaryen offspring did not depend on Rhaneyra, who cares about this woman? At that point there were already too many descendants and
Alicent married her two children Haelena and Aegon and thus returned to purify the blood anyway, Alicent if she has fulfilled her duties Rhaneyra NO.
It seems absurd to me that a person who lies, who is an adulteress, who does not fulfill his duties as an heiress, who has bastards, etc., is the one destined and the correct one to govern, if he could not even have legitimate children, how was he going to manage the West? ? It is a joke.
In the end, Sunfire's meeting with Rhaneyra is very satisfying, so she pays for all her cruelty, and neither side wins because the Targaryens are dethroned and almost extinct. a pity

By the way, I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but Vhagar is a "Queen" dragon (egg laying female), there's been mention of her past clutches. When Laena went to Vhagar & commended her to "dracarys" to give her a dragonrider's death, Vhagar hesitated because she had lost many riders in the past already. But being that she is a female, she could feel Laena's physical & emotional pain at not being able to give birth. Vhagar knew that she was dying already. So as an act of mercy, she roasted Laena as commanded, even though it broke her big dragon heart... Probably why she was so susceptible to bonding with Aemond so quickly. He basically stole Vhagar from Laena's daughter, who was next in line to inherit her mother's dragon. And yes, that was a huge loss for Rhaenyra's camp & also for Corlys' family. I agree with Jay, Rhaenys Velaryon is my favorite too. How sad for her to lose "both" her children in such quick succession. That scene by the fireplace & the look on her face was heartbreaking... I hope that someday in the future, she will learn the truth that Laenor is alive. She deserves a little happiness... Um, where is Laenor's dragon, Seasmoke? 🤔

    • @calvinjohnson6242
      @calvinjohnson6242 Год назад +3

@@Adanu191That’s certainly one way of framing the scene, but I think if you watch it with a different perspective, you’ll see that Aemond was not a victim at all.
First, he claims a dragon that should have gone to a girl who just lost her mother. Despite whether he technically had the ability to claim it without breaking any rules, it was an awful and selfish thing to do.
Then when they rightfully accuse him of taking the dragon, he says “maybe your cousins could find you a pig to ride, it would suit you.”
Remember, Aemond’s cousins have nothing to do with the bullying Aemond has dealt with. This insult is directed at a girl he barely knows, who just lost her mother, and now her dragon. In this situation, he has become a bully.
So that causes the younger girl to rush forward. Then, notice that the way he slams her into the rocky ground uses an excessive amount of force. This may seem like self defense, but I’d argue that when your that much older and stronger, you have the responsibility to not hurt your attacker more than they have the capability to hurt you.
That is what causes the older girl to slap him, then he slaps her. Then it escalates from there. Though Aemond begins to be surrounded, I still say this was his own fault for his selfish, arrogant, and violent actions up to this point. He keeps threatening them the whole time as well, and continuing to needle that he’ll feed them to “his” dragon.
And then, he picks up a rock, holding a boy by his neck, seemingly ready to smash it into the boys skull. He then insults them further, hitting them with the bastard line, and that causes the knife to be brought out. This may seem like a major escalation, but Aemond could very easily kill with that rock he was holding.
Both sides escalated the conflict, but since it was Aemond who ultimately started it, and was the most cruel and heartless throughout, I think it was own fault that he lost the eye.

They did not rush him. He insulted a little girl, and when she ran up to him to shove him, he violently shoved her to the rocky floor. As far as I’m concerned, she was not going to be able to hurt him, and he definitely hurt her.
So he didn’t technically attack first, but he’s in the wrong. It’s very clear when you watch the show with more than the most basic understanding of the conflict.
You can see it on Aemond’s face. His arrogance and cruelty is plain.

“When you play the game of thrones , you win or you die , there is no middle ground”
It comes down to survival here -
I don’t think anyone is ‘good’ in the classical sense but there are certainly better morals or reasons behind actions for a greater good - this is westeros-
If you really want the MAIN villain its Otto Hightower
Alicent was hardly FORCED to marry the King, if anything she was pressured by her Father to get close to him.. she actively pursued him after his wife died, he chose her out of affection. She flirted with him from their first interaction after his wife had passed.
As for “hurt Rhanaeryas feelings” I mean shit, your best friend, behind your back, marries your Dad whilst your mother has barely been dead what? A year? Max?
Alicent I feel was definitely manipulated and an initial victim but by her father - from that point onwards she causes so much shit. Rhanaerya never sought the throne, Aegon clearly dgaf and would rather drink & 🤬 his way through life… but Alicent is so hell bent and paranoid (again Ottos doing) that she’s pulling him and his brother into this conspiracy that Rhanaerya will kill him if he doesn’t challenge her… I mean Rhanaerya offered her an olive branch to marry Jace off to Haelena - making them King and Queen one day and she responded by pointing out the tit leak (*sorry that’s crass I’m British 🤷🏻‍♂️)
I really don’t think that anyone legit thinks that the Blacks are GOOD but they’re certainly better
Poor people? Sorry but yeah no they really don’t matter … this is westeros. Deal with it… name me ONE character we have seen in this franchise who is absolutely clean … there is none
What are you expecting ? Like really? , a Batman style Daemon who won’t kill? There will be collateral damage

There have been multiple examples of this in the show. Remember when it was a big deal when Daemon stole a dragon egg? Even literally in this episode they make it VERY CLEAR that it's a big deal. I guess you know this fictional society better than all of the knowledgeable people in power in said fictional setting though. All this is happening because of Rhaenyras caused emperors new clothes situation, and the lies she has continued to tell in order to try and gaslight everyone which has harmed everyone around her and even caused deaths. To call Rhaenyras side "the good guys" is very inaccurate. In terms of the rules of this world she has done the most wrong. Thats not referring to the idea that women royals can't have bastards while male royals can, but it is treason for both of them to try and put said bastards on the throne. No one would have faulted Rhaenyra to any severe degree had she just treated her bastards as bastards, but shes trying to supplant the throne and undermine the thrones alliances and its subjects.
It's easy to get too hung up on optics since Rhaenyra wants to appear mending while Alicent has reached her breaking point, but Alicent and Otto are more correct, Aemond was completely right aswell, the only bad thing he did was be mean but how could anything else be expected from a child who has gotten bullied for not having a dragon who suddenly got the biggest dragon alive all fair and square. Attacking him and then pulling the knife was obviously the wrong thing to do. Remember that Vhagar was the dragon belonging to Baelon, Aemonds grandfather. He has a good claim to the dragon if they were actually hereditary, which they're not, you have to bond with them which means the dragon chooses the rider, and Vhagar chose Aemond. No one has a right to be mad at him for it. Baela had at least a week to try and bond with Vhagar before everyone gathered for the funeral, but she didn't. Props to Aemond. And lets just be clear that he didn't attack anyone, he was just mean, cheering for him to get knifed is a bit eh, and so is going with the narrative that Jace and Luke "protected" anyone, they attacked Aemond, all they had to do to protect themselves and the girls was to not attack.
We talk alot about how Alicent is brainwashing her kids even though shes just telling them the truth, but Rhaenyra is literally trying to brainwash her kids into believing they're not bastards so much so that they'll try to kill another kid for saying they are, which they are.
In other words, I think being righteuous is alot better than being a lying gaslighter who relies on hereditary power in order to push said lies and gaslighting in order to protect her own selfishness.
Rhaenyra and Daemon are the cause of all of this, they are far from the good guys. Alicent was good, Criston was good. Is it so hard to just not try and supplant the throne with illegitimate children? Is it so hard to just not lie? Would have saved so many people, couldn't Rhaenyra just take that reputation hit she caused herself and be done with it? Would have saved so many people.

This episode was wonderful, the only problem is that the beach scene is very dark, they didn't learn from Game of Thrones,Daemon laughed because Corlys' brother was talking bad about Rhaenyra's children, look at Rhaenyra's reaction, how uncomfortable she is in scene
Daemon and Rhaenyra's wedding scene was so beautiful During the wedding ceremony, Daemon and Rhaenyra drew two Valyrian glyphs on each other's foreheads, meaning "Fire" and "Blood" - the words of House Targaryen 🔥
Viserys said in episode 4 that they are both dragons and restless, Rhaenyra always loved Daemon as Daemon always loved Rhaenyra, this is what is said in the book and also and only in the first episode did we realize the connection between the two, as actors Emma and Matt said that Daemon and Rhaenyra were made to burn together is that they love each other Yes they are marrying for love they both love each other they always have

If you watch in the dark, without 2 bright lights in your face you can see well enough to know whats going on, because the dynamic range is beautiful. I am only now getting to this show (we didn't have time to watch it when it was coming out) but I really enjoy coming back to your reactions. And I just want to say I do appreciate that you're not quite so desensitized by the awfulness of the show. I definitely haven't been able to binge it because it's a lot of people making awful decisions and hurting each other. Even Rhaenyra/Daemon don't come off super great here - they are still willing to murder a servant for their little charade. Playing the game itself just kind of grinds you down.
But the part that really gets me is that scene in the previous episode where Viserys is watching his kids/grandkids in the yard and talking about how great it is for them to all be together. He's clearly naive/nonconfrontational but it's clear he just wants a HAPPY FAMILY. And I come from a family with a lot of aunts/uncles/cousins, and I love watching my kids with their cousins. I totally get he wants that, but it is just never going to happen because there are so many people (the adults) trying to use these kids.
And while I am sympathetic to Alicent's situation (I think she feels like she suffered through doing all the 'right' things and bearing trueborn heirs wheras Rhaenyra flouted it and now her love-children will take the throne over hers) this whole thing that Otto is pushing about how 'nobody will accept Rhaenyra so she'll have to kill your kids' would probably be WAY LESS LIKELY to happen if the entire small council actually just put a united front behind accepting Rhaenyra.
Then again I am also 100% on Jay's side about this - why the heck does anybody even WANT to be king/queen? Just enjoy the fact that you're royal-adjacent, living in an effing castle, have access to maesters and feasts and nice clothes, and enjoy maybe having your own little power base, but not having to worry about the entire damn kingdom!
