  • Slow trail riding on a 2023 KTM 300XC in Map 2, the aggressive map. Even in Map 2 the all new throttle body injected 300cc engine runs smooth and clean down to zero RPM and then rips when the trails open up. The lower XCW 1st/2nd gears are good for exploring while 3rd is the go to do it all gear. This new engine is impressive.
    Here is my first ride review on the new '23 300XC... • 2023 KTM 300XC First R...

      The new 300 2-strokes are amazing! Hi tech fuel injection with electronic power valve or classic carb with mechanical power valve - both so fun to ride... ruclips.net/video/D4XSo3i54es/видео.html

    I prefer to just leave it in map two! I love the nasty 300 power! Mine seems very aggressive with map two. More aggressive than this one here! Not sure why but Im 110% thrilled with my first KTM the 2023 30xc nasty lol.

    Yet again another amazing video. I know it's still early but I would love to see a 250 vs 300 tbi..
    Also I'm not sure if you've mentioned it but what ratio are you running 60:1 motorex?

      Glad you are enjoying the channel! I hope to hook up soon with my buddy Chris that has a new '23 KTM 250XC...will be fun to ride those bikes back to back. I am running the recommended 60:1 Motorex gas/oil mix.

      @@surfncnow He is a lighter weight rider (I think around 160 lbs...I am 190lbs) and he said the '23 250XC had plenty of power. I rode a '21 250XC the other week and for me the biggest difference to the 300 engines is in the linearity of the torque under load. If you are going up a hill the 250 will have a little slower response until the power valve opens - then you get that "BAAA...WHOOP" feel as the power comes on strong. With a 300 you just get linear smooth torque even as the PV opens.

      The stock seat was too hard - needs broken in so I took the broken in seat from my 22.5 450 Factory Edition and put it on the 300XC. Now my son can break in the 300XC seat on the 450 FE;)

    That comes with 14/49 final drive gearing. Is it too tall?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  8 месяцев назад

      I really like the 23/24 300XC stock gearing. 1st is low enough for trials like tight stuff and 2nd/3rd are close. On the moto track 3rd in corners and 4th on straights. The new 300XC gear ratios are lower and closer - no gaps. My 23 300XC Does is All video....stock gearing is versatile,,, ruclips.net/video/VL5NPXdHbjc/видео.html

    Has the idle settled down a bit ? sounded quite high in the first ride. I think you commented on it as well... The 350 definitely sounds lathargic after you get used to listening to one of these zing! Reminds me of the old DT/WR200 days.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад +1

      The idle on my '21 300XCW has always been consistent and very low. I find the TBI idles a little higher but often when I let it idle for say over 30 seconds it does drop a few RPM. Not an issue - just something I noticed. And yes the TBI 300 engine makes a lot of power/torque with very little throttle opening and it does make the 4-stroke response seem slow(!!)

    What color is the gnarly map and the more linear map? White or Green?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад +1

      White is the stock map, green is the aggressive map. I tend to ride the green map all the time as I like the stronger partial throttle roll on torque feel and it is still very controllable. Maybe you saw my first '23 300XC Does it All review - slow riding to fast riding all done in Map 2 green... ruclips.net/video/VL5NPXdHbjc/видео.html

    With the lower gearing does it have the gap between second and third like some people gripe about with the XC-W?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Год назад

      I could notice the gap on my '21 300XCW but mostly in 2nd is a tick too low at times on the trail - the engine is too bursty and I preferred the slightly taller 2nd gear on the old XC transmission. I have ridden my '23 300XC on a lot of trails and now a moto track and I have no issues with the new transmission ratios. On the trails I short shift to 3rd on my '23 300XC more than I do on my 300XCW Erzberg and on the track I use 3rd and 4th on the 300XC. The new TBI engine is very strong down low and runs smoothly down low...maybe that makes up for the new ratios?
