I was on ozempic and I got off it after one month because it taught me what my portions should be. So I stopped taking it and I’m still losing weight at a great rate because I learned from the drug. Others are gaining weight back because they are not learning from it!

@@sparklebutt1119 well it cuts your appetite down…. If you overeat you get physically Ill. You can get the worst bloating cramps and feel full for two days , or your body rejects it and u throw up. So since I could literally only eat so much (1200-1400calories) in a day, I would only eat food that was nutritious through and through. I didn’t have room for junk because I don’t want to become deficient in anything! There for all my calories have purpose. No chips, no dips, no salad dressing anymore, no sweets, very little bread , low low fat dairy (kefir and yogurts) , if I want pasta well I just don’t have it because it’s not nutritional and it takes up too many calories. I could go on but I think you get the drift.

I lost 40 lbs on Ozempic. I have been able to maintain this weight for over 18 months without the medication. It really takes a lifestyle change to avoid weight regain. I h have learned alternative ways to manage my stress without food, including exercising more and I got a new job since the stress at my old job was causing me physical and mental harm. I also try to eat a lot more protein and minimize my carb intake completely to when I was at my heaviest weight. This medication is fantastic, but you should not rely on it to do all the work for you, otherwise you will be back to the same pattern that caused your weight gain in the first place.

That is great. I'm sure it's because you have learned better eating habits and maybe exercising that you are keeping it off I started 6 days ago. I have lost 6 lb. I'm sure it's water weight as far as I know anyway. I had bariatric surgery 10 and 1/2 years ago and have definitely already learned so many good eating habits. I regained 30 lb over this last year or so due to depression and the meds that go with it because they were changed. They were recently changed back and I have been working out and exercising a lot more since I moved closer to my family so I am sure that these 30 lb plus five more that I'd like to lose will definitely come off. They may even come off without the help of this but since my insurance covered all but $4 I figured I'd give it a try for a while.

Seems like in both the studies , when they stopped ozempic, they stopped abruptly. Shouldn't they be tapered down? Just as they were tapered up when started.

    • @HealthRX
      @HealthRX  Год назад +13

Tapering down is not necessary or required when stopping Ozempic. The only reason you gradually increase the dose when starting is to get your body used to it, so as to minimize the risk of side effects.
Of course, if it is being used for diabetes and not weight loss, then a good replacement should be put in place, so blood sugar levels do not go up.
Thanks for your questions. They are very insightful and keeps giving me video ideas of the real issues that need to be addressed.

You’re responsible for the way you eat whether you’re on ozempic or not. It’s not supposed to cure over eating. The point is to change your diet while you have the help of the drug and get used to your new lifestyle so that you can continue once the drug isn’t there for you anymore. There’s no magic pill for weight loss. This applies to any diet program. If you do a keto diet and then start eating carbs again, you’ll gain the weight back as well. I must admit I am concerned for when I stop taking it. I have agreed with my GP that my cut off point will be when I reach my goal weight, but as your video shows quite clearly, weight gain is almost inevitable unless I make some massive changes to my exercise regime. I have had no negative side effects at all and am on 1mg. In Ireland they will not allow any more than 1mg but it's clearly working for me. Great explanation. I think people need to pay the most attention to what you said at the end: change your eating habits and exercise once you lose the weight. Imagine that! If people expect to take a weight loss medication, stop it and go back to what they were doing before, then I think folks are fooling themselves. The whole point of taking a weight loss medication is to boost your weight loss, but you have to take some responsibility and maintain a healthy lifestyle after the weight loss so that you don't gain the weight back. A lot of folks expect miracles when it comes to weight loss and there is no such thing. You have to put the work in to keep the weight off. This is not magic, it's reality. But overall, these medications are great for those who plan to use them with the proper mindset and goals in mind. And thanks for emphasizing the lifestyle changes at the end!

I have insulin resistance and PCOS so I literally gain weight by looking at food. I have found ozempic great for me. My appetite has never been huge and nausea is also a regular occurrence with PCOS. But I have found my auger levels are more regulated on ozempic. Also some of the more feminine issues have also become less. I’m not sure how long this will last but I’m hopeful. Are there any studies on PCOS and what options we have? I did try gluten-free, dairy free, sugar free vegan diet but that was surprisingly expensive and not very family friendly.

I say no to foods I know makes me gain weight. I did go off ozempic for a month and even though I was hungrier I was able to maintain the weight I lost. I continued to eat the same foods, exercise daily and drink the same amount of water. I'm back on ozempic since I have about 30Ibs left more to lose. I have lost 50Ibs since July 2022. Side effects are minimum. I have been so happy about the weight loss. I feel better and I don't ever want to gain the wt back again.

Hi. I have been on Ozempic for 6 months as my pain specialist wanted me to take it to help me lose weight as I was on Lyrica which he said is one of the culprits that has assisted in my weight gain, which he has taken me off. I am also on many other medications which doesn't help. I started at 98kg and am currently at 85kg so 13kg down but I am sure quite a bit is due to how very very sick Ozempic makes me for about 4 out of 7 days which is unpleasant. I am sticking with it though to try to get the weight off unfortunately the supply issues atm make getting hold of it difficult and I don't think this helps at all.

Or did they exercise and eat right afterwards and still gain the weight back? Hmm… I’m skeptical. The drug suppresses appetite and increases the time food spends in your stomach after eating. Even if you learn about portion control and exercise, and do both, you will still end up feeling hungry once the drug of off your system. Your food won’t stay for long in your stomach, so the slimming effect is off. It isn’t a gastric band,
      does nothing permanent.
Obese people don’t have trouble learning about portion control. They struggle doing so, cause of the hunger.
You’d think after a year of portion control, your stomach would have shrunk and your brain would have adapted to a suppressed appetite? Clearly it doesn’t.

I stopped taking it like 2months ago because of all the bad findings that have come out about it. Pancreatic cancer , thyroid cancer, colon obstruction, kidney failure, liver damage and some times it can cause death if someone goes under general anesthesia for a procedure……. Because it made me used to eating well, I’ve actually kept losing weight anyways. So if your taking ozempic to lose weight consider the possible horror’s it could bring and rethink it.🍻🍻🍻

Never cut out any macronutrient to lose weight. Carbs give you energy, protein builds muscle and fats help with hormone synthesis.

For some people, it may be hormonal, for others it could be just a high caloric intake or lack of physical activity. In my humble opinion, I believe these meds are just supposed to jump start the weight loss journey and for people who are morbidly obese, another chance at life.

@@cavekritter1 In the interim, discuss with your doctor if he will be interested prescribing the pill form, Rybelsus. It is basically the same active ingredient and since a lot of people have not “jumped” on it yet, you are probably likely to find some while we wait for a permanent resolution.

I'm on it for 2weeks and I've lost 7 lbs.
I'm due for Bariatric surgery in January , however my nurse said I may not need it as this ozempic will do the job.
    Anyone with similar experience?

My dear doctor! I am on OZEMPIC since 5 August and now, after about 20 weeks, my doctor insists that I have to stop OZEMPIC after 2 weeks, since it is too much the 27 kg* I have already lost. What are you suggesting, please?
Many hearty greetings from Crete, once again !!

Hmmm. Your doctor knows your situation best, so I'm guessing he or she may have particular reasons for wanting to take you off. The truth though, is that if you are not diabetic, at some point you will have to come off the medication. I doubt your plan is to stay on it permanently, so I would say work with your doctor about some contingency plans for when you eventually stop it. You can also discuss with your doctor if lowering the dose (depending on what you are taking now) is an option, since I'm guessing you are concerned about gaining the weight back. All the best.

So what I'm reading in the comments is that the people who return to the way of eating that got them overweight to begin with will regain the weight. But if you make the lifestyle changes that are conducive to weight loss you will maintain or lose more weight. That is, it's not like you have a dependency forever in ozempic to keep weight off bc of something it does to you to create a dependency, correct?

Sorry if I missed something but is the weight gain after Semaglutide just because of bad lifestyle or do they have any idea if it’s just transitory weight loss from the drug itself?

    • @HealthRX

Regaining the weight back was most likely due to the fact that, what caused the original weight gain in the first place, was not dealt with. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a bad lifestyle, even though that could be part of the problem, as some people gain weight for other reasons including hormonal.
So be it excessive caloric intake, lack of physical activity or anything in between, if that is not fixed, most people are likely to gain the weight back upon discontinuing the medication.
In my humble opinion, any weight loss medication is supposed to kickstart the weight loss journey and should not be used as an end in itself.

They don't get the drug. Probably injecting normal saline solution.
