I cannot watch this video without bawling my eyes out every time, watching James collect Hillel's award, everything Anthony says, Cliff and Jack, when Chad talks I start getting all emotional, but it's when Flea starts.
When he starts that speech, you know it's coming straight from the heart, his speech is so heartfelt and real, when he chokes up, I lose it. When he says he loves his mum, when he says thank you to George Clinton - just no one can pull so many emotions in one speech, he's such an incredible man, they all are.
All I wish for is a long and successful career, their health, and some funky tunes for years to come, I don't know where or if I'd be here without them, thank you for everything boys.

As to why John Frusciante didn't attend you have to remember.
He isn't the healthiest individual mental health wise. He literally sunk into addiction because of the pressures that being widely famous brought him back in the 90's, which is completely understandable considering how much of an introvert he is and how he probably just doesn't like recognition. He seems to suffer from social anxiety too, which is a phobia of people and it doesn't help that everyone puts him on a pedestal, despite him clearly hating that.
Just some perspective for those calling him selfish. He just took some precaution for himself so that he wouldn't fall into the same rabbit hole. He literally lost 6 years of his life from addiction.
He's back, but just chill out everyone lmao

The reason John did not attend is the very same reason he left the band - he doesn't like publicity, he doesn't like being famous, he left the first time because he was uncomfortable with the fame they were gaining, but the love between them brought him back, the second time was for much the same reason. In an interview he said that he hated going on stage and got into a state of almost panic attack, he left because he doesn't like publicity, hence why he doesn't perform now, as for this evening, well considering the fact that it is based solely on the band members, then I can see why he chose not to attend

Yea he also just doesn't like the rock n roll hall of fame an has said many times he could care less about getting in...he stated it's a popularity contest a fashion show an it's all political ....he just honestly loves playing the guitar an making amazing songs...his rhythm an funky psychedelic solos an grooves is going to live forever like the predecessors he looked up to Hendrix Clapton...he finally did what he's always wanted to do he made it his songs an his style is legendary an in my eyes will not be forgotten..long live the peppers and the great John frusciante

Nah. John is what an edgy hipster was in the 90s. I love John and his works are magic but he knew in the first place what he was getting into but can't get that elitist attitude of his off his priority. You'd know as soon as he talks of his new electronic bs music.
