I like the way that you approach the game, repeating your swing thoughts and taking more club rather than trying to overpower the shot! Good stuff…thanks!!
That was a GREAT video. I like the "on course" thinking videos. Many golfers just go out there and "whack" the ball around, and wonder why they can't break 100. This is an excellent instructional video. Thanks for making it and sharing it with us!
Putting is the best part of my game, putter is the most expensive club in my bag. I play exactly like this & consistently beat guys who out-drive me by 30 yards. Drive for show - putt for dough. Nice vid, great channel - love from Scotland.
As a 50yo, 23 hcap and member at a tricky and long course in Surrey, UK, your playing tips could not resonate more with me and how to improve at this game! Your video’s are gold and I love watching them! Thank you and please keep them coming.
Absolutely spot on in your course management. I tend to do the same since I learned that it is easier to control your shots by swinging consistently. If it requires a HERO shot then I’m with you. Play the shot that provides a good result but your short game can provide a better potential outcome. For instance on a typical par 5 my thoughts are to hit a 200 yard drive, a 200 yard or less to the location where you are most confident like 120 for a wedge into the green. Play the game for par and play away from trouble with smart decisions. Good stuff
This channel Jimmy is what golfers need. They do what you are saying they will play better golf. My student's would always say I want to hit the ball 300 yards. I would say lets go to the putting green. Some didn't like that.
Excellent video as always Jimmy your laid back instructions are so easy to follow. Since I have started to watch your videos I certainly have seen improvements in my golf and my approach to the game, thanks.
As a 79 year old golfer from UK who still tinkers with his swing (currently trying stack and tilt), I think Jimmys best tip is ''wave at the camera''. Keep the videos coming Jimmy, I love 'em.
Hi Jimmy , I like the way how you explain the game strategy in each hole and when the ball gets into a difficult position sometimes! As you know most of us have a difficulty hitting long irons, 5,4,3 etc ! Can you post a video on how to hit long irons perfectly ?
I know all these tips come together. I found the throwing motion, like your second baseman throw to first base, takes care of the "bump" part automatically. When I do the throwing motion I find it almost impossible not to "bump" before the swing.
Enjoy the content. Thanks. One thing I hope you will reconsider is, the concept of 'getting it back". It is literally a myth or misconception in golf. Once you do it, it's on the card regardless of what comes after. I get the reasoning, I do. But too many other golfers will ruin their round trying to "get something back" that in actuality they never possessed to begin with. Par is nothing, total score is everything so a number on the card is there and will never not be there. Anyway, thanks again for adding a solid channel to the golfsphere on YT.
i'm a 14.7 handicap, just played nine after watching you. went double, bogie, par, bogie, par, par, par, birdie, bogie, shot 40 on a tough course. i did that thinking my way around just like you talked about. if you keep making videos I'll keep watching. thanks!
Additionally, one thing I appreciate is helping golfers learn to better their scores by reducing big numbers and playing with a plan. So many attempt to lower their scores by making 4 into a 3 and 3 into a 2. When those aren't the reason they shoot big numbers it is the 5 they turn into 8s. And all the 6s they let escape and have to write down 7, 8 or 9 because they didn't keep their wits or have unrealistic expectations. Etc
I watched one of your videos a couple days ago and went out today to try your approach to the game. I shot 52 for 9 holes which is in my 52-58 range for nine. I mostly stayed in the fairway but what hurt me was a 7 on a par three. On in three but 4 putt. Pin placement was on a slope and I could not get the right speed. Thanks for the tips!
Awesome, awesome video Jimmy… thanks for doing what you do.. truly appreciate your videos great mind set when playing. I need to think like this when I’m playing. Keep them coming.
Jimmy you need to get a tracer. A company to endorse your channel like a flight scope, GC, quad track man anything like that boy what it make your videos even better than they already are.
The hardest bit to get your head around as a mid handicap golfer is that on the longest holes, a double is really just a net bogey and thats not too bad so long as its not the norm.
I went out and shot 1-under for the first 9 holes with the simple thought of an easy approach to reach the green without pressure. Now, I made some not so good decisions on my back nine and shot a 42 so I have work to do but I am loving the approach; loving my golf.
The last few videos is exactly what I've needed. I'm a go out a crush the ball ego player as of late, but seeing this brings it into perspective. Nice putt at the end.
I generally agree with this logical approach to the game. Where I might differ a bit is in playing purely based upon score vs. playing for FUN. Obviously, we all want low scores....but there are times that going for the green, and pulling it off, is a lot more fun than a boring safe shot. Yes, you can blow those shots and post a bogey or worse... but so what, we're not on the PGA Tour....we're playing for enjoyment.
Great stuff, been removing driver from my shot choices, using 3 iron lately for this reason. More fairways. Probably saving me strokes. Great stuff as always.
You da man Jimmy !! Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. Ps. If you get a hottie as student I see a million views :) You're in LA you'll figure something out.
Great video Jimmy. I enjoy watching you play and hearing your thought process. Not very many others on RUclips doing what you are showing us. Thanks for the great tips. I will definitely try these next time I play.
I really like your videos, great mindset, easy swing something I usually end being the I’m going to crush this guy, stupid simple we over complicate golf ha I’m going to start playing like this
Is no one going to mention this dude can hit a 3 iron 200 yards!! I could play this chilled if I knew I could do that, my 3i would go about 80 yards and in the wrong direction.
I like the way that you approach the game, repeating your swing thoughts and taking more club rather than trying to overpower the shot! Good stuff…thanks!!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Well done dude. I enjoy this style of honest Realistic golf. 2 thumbs in the air.
Thanks for watching. Come back soon
WOW!!! I have a NEW mindset for playing golf now. THANK YOU!!

Best common sense approach to the game of golf. Perfect for a high to mid handicapper like me.

Iphone 13. 4k-30
I think I am getting some subliminal core concepts going through my head. Love this approach.
Thanks!
The hardest bit to get your head around as a mid handicap golfer is that on the longest holes, a double is really just a net bogey and thats not too bad so long as its not the norm.
Exactly. Play within your means
Kinda like the Eureka swing promoted by Steve Johnston. Minus the multiple canes. 😊

Agreed. 19-22 degree iron has been straighter and not in the trees.
Where is your ball position with a fairway wood? Love your videos!
Always back with fairway wood. I want to hit down on the ball
What a putt! “Shooter”! 🎉
Does your "throw the ball" feel work with the driver ? Could you do a driver specific video please. Keep up the great content, Paddy from Ireland

What’s that device your cigar was being held by?
Nevermind…had I waited three minutes I’d have had the info…already ordered one!
Finally gave up the game this year. Played 20 years and never broke 100.
Great video! Just a health note: cigars cause mouth cancer, much more than cigarettes. Tip from "How to make the rest of your life easier"...
