Where I live there's one restaurant doing this as a munchy box. They only accept cash though and I can't be arsed getting cash but it's so good when I can.
It's a salt n pepper chips portion with crispy chicken. Last night my salt and pepper mix was ; pork ribs, chicken, kingprawn and wings. I also had a portion of 3 types of dumplings..

I'm going to give this a go..looks amazing. Thank you guys for these great videos 😊😊😊 love Chinese food. My wife is Chinese and doesn't understand why I love Western Chinese food.. she is a good cook but its noodles 🍜 or dishes without sauce 😅😅😅 .. I tell her I have to have gravy on my food .. no gravy, she will say, makes you fat 😅😅😅
Hi my two favourite Chinese people, especially mum Choo. You’ll like this. In 1967 at the age of 15 I was bunking off school and was introduced to to wonderful pleasure of proper Chinese food. I had the set meal of chicken and sweetcorn soup, sweet and sour pork balls, chicken fried rice and a spring roll. Followed by lychee with ice cream and Chinese tea. It was wonderful. The best bit! It cost 4shillings and 6pence. In modern money that’s 22 pence roughly. I don’t think I’ve got althzeimers but I could be wrong. Hoping to get to Porlock later in the year. I’ll be along to spend money at your one of your establishments. Can you match that price haha. Keep well both of you
Two things i learned from this video.... first time i fried everything came off, been wondering why for 10 years; 2nd, restaurants are crap at double frying chips. You know you get em and youre like ugh theryre clearly double dipped.... theyre doing it wrong! Many thanks for the content and the knowledge ✨️
We had this from our local takeaway the other night, it was called a munchbox! Came with a medley of bits n pieces, ribs, chicken balls, rice, pancake rolls......was served in a pizza box and was really tasty! Can't wait to make this at home! I've cooked a few of your recipes and they're amazballs!!!! I literally go back n fourth to the Chinese mkt to get bits for these dishes! Thanks so much for sharing! I really want your book too! Thanks Dan
I recently got back from Ireland and the spice bags I had there, you could get one of 3 sauces: curry, satay, or sweet and sour. also it is a matter of opinion if you pour the sauce overtop or keep it on the side and dip. the satay was my favorite sauce I tried. Also the place I went to had a lot more chili in it, and some peanuts as well, and less red/green pepper.
Yes, we get tagged in 1000s of these on our socials as we have 1.5 million followers across the board, we found that 70%+ pour the curry sauce over the top, so that’s what we did
Greetings from Ireland. I've been watching your channel for years now, its fantastic!! I tried to order your book numerous times but it was always out of stock. Haha amazing, it looks great! I used to do exactly this but in the oven instead of a deep fryer, piling up tasty things on chips - I called it Superchips! I was born / grew up in Indonesia and Singapore, so had to find some way of bringing SEA flavours into London cuisine. Long live Superchips!
We love you guys! You are so special but didn’t know you nearly 40. You’re amazing as you have taught me so much!! P.s love msg. My cooking is so different since.

Looks fecking delicious. Like EVERYTHING i have made from your first book. My family goes potty for chow mein, stewed mushrooms and the salt and pepper chicken. Keep it up Chin and youtube mum.
This is possible to get in the UK, just get salt and pepper (or salt and chilli) chips and chicken/shredded chicken, two different dishes, combine them, spice bag hey presto. Go a step extra and get salt and pepper ribs (not full ribs, the ones that are chopped to smaller pieces) instead for something a bit more special.

Love a spicebag, im veggie so I get tofu ones. There's definitely sugar added to some of them as you said. Also v common to swap the curry sauce for peanut satay. 10/10 a perfect takeaway.
omg that's why Chinese chips taste so nice. This looks lovely. Also, I've just realised yeah sometimes I can taste the sugar in a spice bag, but I think I don't mind. I like both with and without apparently...
My cousins had a fish and chip shop back in the 80's and for many years after and they would always make their own chips but all chips were blanched and then placed in a tray for someone to order before being refried till cooked. My personnal preference for a hangover cure is really greasy bacon and eggs, otherwise I go get the old potato scollops from up the road they work a treat but I am going to try this looks great.
My favourite takeaway combo is a 'Dirty Curry' - Jil Juen Chicken over Singapore fried rice with curry sauce poured over the top! I'm amazed it isn't standard on every menu!
Some places when they make them "sweet" will add a sort of hot honey syrup. Also there's some hot peppers on, most of the time. And the chicken does tend to be a little more browned. But this is a great example of what a spice bag is.
It’s normally golden syrup if it’s not sugar and as we have 1.4 million followers over all socials, we get tagged in these 100s of times a day and I can say that mostly the chicken is even more pale than ours, which means they are only using starch, if it’s browner they’d pan fried it and added a drop dark soy in the wok, but also, the light me have wash out some of the colour.
I used to love Chinese chips. They were incredible. Like little roast potatoes. Every restaurant had their own style. I miss when everything wasn’t sourced from the same cash and carry’s.
PLEASE LIKE its FREE and helps so much you have no idea, yes just one like can be the difference, thank you :)
