Yeah, whenever I hear British people talk about how brown sauce is so wildly different than barbecue sauce, I can't help but think they've only ever had Kraft. I've had both, and brown sauce/HP sauce definitely tastes like some bbq sauces I've had. Maybe a little more A1 to it, but definitely totally within the flavor profile of good barbecue sauces.
Mann that last part was absolutely beautiful and wholesome I love these two guys this is a great pairing and they do hell of a job doing these shows. I hope they never break up. Cheers thank for all the entertainment and joys and all that other stuff guys
Eastern NC is vinegar, brown sugar or molasses, and usually some pepper flake. Western NC is the same adding tomato paste/sauce typically. And yeah SC is usually eastern style NC adding mustard. Heard a theory that most BBQ sauces are eastern NC and keep adding more things the farther you move away.
I know you guys compare UK food with US food, but honestly I’d love to see you guys travel other countries and see how you both experience the food native to the country being visited according to Harry’s UK flavour palette & Joe’s US flavour palette and compare 🤭 I do have a couple suggestions in mind 🙈
You guys should absolutely do a series like this in Japan, meet up with the dude you did the food wars videos with, let him take you around to find the best dishes in Japan
Given the Japanese culture of always finishing your meal, I feel that they could have some issues doing this series over there, given that they always leave most of the food behind just because they consume so much. I mean, they could still do it over several days and it would be just as good on video.

And the waste of food. What a disgrace! But that is common problem with food shows. And yeah they destroy their palate with tons of savory food. I know that these two are no professionals or food critics, so they don’t know any better. It’s all about american culture, being actually a third world country and belittling others.
It's a shame that being in Southern California they didn't try California's native Barbecue cuisine: Santa Maria style BBQ. I grew up on Santa Maria style BBQ tri-tip. A real lost opportunity!

They never even tried the greens! Killed me since collard greens are a fave of mine to cook and have been unobtainium since the local producer in Western Canada closed during Covid. Nobody brings them in any longer
Grew up 18 years in LA... live in central Texas now... when they said they cook the brisket 5 hours... 5 hours in for ribs and like chicken. Brisket is low and slow and like 12 14 hours. Bbq should be done in 1. TX 2. KC and 3 Carolinas. acceptable alternatives are Alabama White and Memphis

As a Brit I'll be the first to concede that American BBQs are a level above British BBQs. British food generally is underrated but the average BBQ here is below par. Hoping to see some Mexican food coming up on this LA tour!
Bludso's rules. I was a little disappointed with the amount of brisket that comes on the $200 plate. But it was still more than enough food for 6 people, we even had a big box of leftovers. And every single dish you get hits so hard. The beans, the greens, the smoked sausage. All so good.
There is some genuinely good barbecue in the UK. But it is much harder to find. It's growing in popularity, but I wouldn't say it has caught on. I know many people here that are suspicious of it, having grown up with sickly bottled barbecue sauce as a condiment and think that is what it is. Additionally, many of the places that do make it are either chains, which are usually ok but not exactly groundbreaking, or "trendy" places that have an air of the hipster about them. Either way, they are usually expensive for what you get. The Great British Barbie is improving though. The days of cremated burgers and charcoal sausages are by no means over, but the market is slowly changing and the foodie BBQ market is growing.
I've had BBQ at a couple of places in the UK and it hasn't blown my mind. There's something about the random assembly of a large amount of ingredients that doesn't really do it for me. Like who needs ribs, brisket, sausage, burnt ends, with fries, slaw etc? It's all a bit much. That said, maybe it works better with the real deal?

Has Harry been hiding under a rock? American style BBQ is pretty popular in the UK, lot of people have smokers in their back garden/yard. Also in London, check out a restaurant such as Bodeans, great BBQ, they've been doing it for years.
Harry's absolutely correct time is the currency of BBQ. Low and Slow as my Grandpa used to say. We'd smoke Turkey, Ribs, and Brisket every Thanksgiving growing up. That was a great spread with all the usual sides.
We are huge huge Bludso fans in our family and friends circle. The other bbq place you guys should try is APL - Adam Perry Lang is also an amazing KING of bbq - definitely put him on your list to check out!!!!
Am sure its better in the USA but how has Joe avoided the thousands of BBQ restaurants that have opened in the UK over the last 15 years. And brisket is a common cut for roast beef.

As a brit living in the US, I initially didn't much like cornbread- too dry and crumbly. But what it goes amazingly well with on that plate isn't the meat, its the collard greens. Love collard greens. I think a vegetable boiled for that long with ham appeals to the British palate lol.
If your cornbread was dry, you didn’t put enough butter on it. Another good way to eat cornbread is to crumble big chunks into a tall glass and pour buttermilk over it.
Arthur Treacher’s had amazing hush puppies! Corn bread with pulled pork or chicken are my favorites! Not a huge beef BBQ person, but I do love it. Just choose pork or chicken 90% of the time
@@JoseCastillo-uu6gi As someone who grew up in Texas but lives in SoCal and has been to three of these four places, they are pretty good (and I have had Pecan Lodge, Snow, Hutchin's, la Barbecue, Cattleack and a lot of the decent places in Texas). Really like Slab's brisket and Moo's sausage is awesome.
I know there's some cultural theatrics in these vids, but it's worth pointing out that we do have good American-style barbecue in the UK. Admittedly, you need to be somewhere - probably a city - that's culturally lively. There's a few places in my home town of Brighton. I'd be very surprised if London doesn't have a bunch of destination bbq joints.
The third restaurant(Moo's? I think) was about the same price, had a lot more food and also looked a lot better. The first one was ridiculous with their prices and their collard greens were some of the saddest I've ever seen.

Brisket as a meat cut is usually in stews and soups in the uk as it requires long slow cooking . Smokers are unusual in the uk.

The third restaurant(Moo's? I think) was about the same price, had a lot more food and also looked a lot better. The first one was ridiculous with their prices and their collard greens were some of the saddest I've ever seen.
