i have seen several other YT channels cross the panama canal, but yours is the first to be so REAL as far as the feelings involved in this endeavor. from the anticipation of setting out to the wonder of being alongside these mammoth vessels, the excitement of coming to the end and everything in between... just awesome. also loving your editing and music choices, as always. jupie is a beauty 😍. congrats, crew!
Same here, great grandpa, I think we should get at least 1 or 2 free passes isn't that much too ask. I mean Americans unfucked it and gave it to Panama? What was that about?
@@ThatSandersboy I think Panama sold it to China right after America gave it to Panama but am not positive about that. That's just what I heard a long time ago. What blows me away is that they are building a third and much larger canal just after they finished the second one. That's crazy.
I crossed it seven times, in the sixties as a young apprentice officer, acting as third officer for lack of licensed officers, with italian maritime authority permission. No cheap third world crews or other nationals in those happy times A nice experience.
The engineering marvels of the Panama Canal.👍 Every time I watch a passage through the canal, I think with awe how the canal revolutionized international trade and travel. Thanks for sharing. Welcome to the Pacific.🎉
Wow such great explanation.. in the Netherlands we lived in an area full off locks and bridges etc… with explanation hard to find we’ve seen many dangerous and somewhat funny things like new multi million yachts severely hanging on the ropes with no water underneath or boats sideways stuck in the lock with one line stuck in the wall… it’s good to see the dedication of the helpers to make Panama safe.
That did go well, but I would have been stressed out too! It's nice to see how this is done in case I ever need to transit the canal. It should be used by the Panama Canal Authority for all pleasure craft.
Hi Crew, seems to fine after all, back in the pacific again, fair winds.....looking forward what comes next... Regards Buggy (3rd right know, I will do my best....)
Junior's great re safety. 2nd advisor has a great personality, seen him in other vids. Bugger with the bow seats over the cleats. Wonder how many hatches are broken from monkey balls. "We still got a play in the US" lol
1st. I'm thinking that you went up to Puerto Penasco, Mexico. What destinations are you planning on going to before you cross the Pacific and what islands are you planning on visiting as you cross the Pacific? When I get my Odisea 48, I hope to hook up with you two, have a beer and compare both of the Tim Mumby designs side by side. That should be fun. I'll bring the fish like Plukky does.
Jupiter has passed through the Panama Canal and entered the Pacific Ocean, parts of the Indonesian archipelago are also in the Pacific Ocean. Where's the next destination, Captain? Salam dari Indonesia
Man..as a solo sailor in the Atlantic who wants to go to french Polynesia, having to take aboard feed, and provide bunks to 4 strangers + the exorbitant cost is a real deal breaker for me. Considering Magellan's cut. I can't be the only one who takes issue with the deal?
Just started watching the first few minutes of the video and first sight of those two people helping with the lines didn't advertise an abundance of confidence. I would have been a little worried...
Question; Have you ever seen one of the other larger Tim Mumby designs and if so, would the larger size fit your lifestyle better? What do you think the perfect length is for a lightweight performance cruising catamaran that Tim Mumby designs would be for two people?
Princess, you should know by not to put suicide hitches on cleats, if that lock emptied fast, you would not get the line uncleated, everyone needs to think about the disastrous consequences. And then the so called professional made the same unprofessional error, incredible.
I notice that the professional line handler's cleat process and safety warning, didn't not include the warning not to put on a half hitch. He may have assumed the line handlers were boat trained and would not make that dangerous amateur trap, but a lot of Americans with boats, do that a lot.
i have to say that this episode dealt with much more detail than other videos watched on the same crossing. Quite excellent.
Zero mistakes through the Panama Canal - congratulations.
终于找到有中文解说的频道
The monkey fist was successfully used in ancient times as an argument booster for the captain.
Worth watching and educational episode!

My grandfather was 1 of the engineers that built the Gatun lock

Very informative, thank you.
What a cool experience, I'd like to experience that someday with my own boat.
Where in the US will you be exploring? Make it up to Morro Bay or Port San Luis and I’ll buy your dinner and drinks. Cheers!!

Jamie.. can you stop half way and take in the sights or must you transit straight through?
Unfortunately, we can’t stop

Are you sure the inexperienced line crew can't continue traveling with you?
fyi - see Canadian Earthquake Researcher
I guess you didn't like those kids that much cause I see they left..😮
I am more inclined to just sail down around Cabo de Hornos
Well: that ship's name "CASTRATOS" in italian means emasculated (if you take off the final "S").
