Plucky is a fun guy. If you have to survive on a boat he is your man. Spear fishing is his thing. I think he can hold his breath for over 4 minutes which is amazing. I can not wait to see the boat he builds. I also see Barefoot Doctors Sailing building a 52' in Dubai all Aluminum. Theirs will be amazing with all the new things like negative windows made of glass,
I see that Aussie Flag and I get so excited to see my people enjoying their amazing lifestyle. Good to see u bringing in the Tucker Plukky, ur a good bloke. Just found ur channel and I'm now a new crew member. Thanks🇦🇺👍🌈 hey don't lose heart with Chartering, it will happen, just advertise like crazy and word of mouth is the best, I'm for sure gonna spread the word. If u want Safe, comfortable, experienced cruising, then book Life on Jupiter, very knowledgeable Captain an Crew will give u a great adventure to take home a lifetime of memories. 😎
Plukky is a legend for sure, one of the best and most respectful spear fisherman I've ever seen and a good friend, glad you guys got meet him. As for his views on boats and Catamarans, he's a bit silly imo. My 48' FP is a great boat for what I am using her, there's no way me or my friends will kill ourselves on 5hese condomarams...lol
OMG, that sea food dinner alone was enough to inspire me to build a boat and sail around the world...ok, just half of it... :) when you poured butter on that lobster tail! Reminds me of good friday when we had to sacrafice and not eat meat on fridays.....
the plucky version is an overengineered gimmick version of the mumby. Jupiter and mumby 48-50 way better and under half the price of essentially the same but a lesser version.

#1 again :) What's the difference in weight between the Cyber 48 and the Odisea 48? Also, I was wondering how the designers determine the width of the perfect catamaran and the height of the mast when they know they want a 48 foot long catamaran? I believe the Cyber 48 is 25 1/2 feet wide, not sure what the height is. Why not 27 or 30 feet wide? I'd love to understand how they go about figuring that sort of stuff out!
wider means more length. Watch Sailing into Freedom as Plucky explains all those numbers. If you really want a perfect sailing cat 55-65' at around 28-30' wide. Only issue with a bigger cat is it gets hard to single hand them. the only reason I think a 48' isn't as good as a 55' is how it cuts through waves better since it has longer hulls. But a 48' can do just fine but just a little more bumpy of a ride. 48' is really the starting point for a smoother sail and the longer the hulls it gets even more smoother except in big seas none of them are going to be smooth.
@@dc1544 I used to race Tornado and Nacra 6.0 catamarans. I also went out on some custom catamarans that had an aluminum ladder rack that slid forward and aft on a traveler track. When on the opposite tack, the leeward rack would fold up and rest against the mast stays. We would climb out to the end of the racks and hook up to the trapeze. The racks were 10 ft. long. That kept the boat flat with that leverage. There's a carbon fiber catamaran that's being built called Carbon Bee that's 30 ft. wide and I think 50 ft. long. I guess the wider your boat is would make it more responsive which really isn't a great thing. I'm not sure how to find a balance between length and width is what I'm asking. The mast height is a totally different subject that I'd also like to understand. The maximum trailer width you can have in America without a special gear, chase vehicle, special lights, signs, and permits is 8' 6". The Tornado was 10 ft. wide and was on a tilt trailer unless you wanted to disassemble the cross beams. The Tornado was 20 ft. long and 10 ft. wide. I guess you could use that math on a larger catamaran where it's twice as long than the width. That would mean a 48 ft. catamaran could be 24 ft. wide but both the Cyber 48 and the new Odisea 48 are 25 1/2 ft. wide. Let's also talk about the perfect mast base placement. Also, I know that a rotating mast is better for a small catamaran but what about larger lightweight performance cruising catamaran with a fixed mast base verses a rotating mast base. All of this stuff is probably experimental and for sure cutting edge but it could be a mathematical equation that I'm not aware of. This is something that only the designers would know.
Heard a rumor that Plucky isn't building a Mumby, and that he has taken part of the Mumby design and adding it to another design and calling it another brand. Can you confirm it?
compromise between weight and safety. whats your hull plate thickness? a better aluminium cat design in my opinion is the devilliers 52, one just built in brisbane on catamaran build YT. better design function, looking and safer, yes heavier but not like garcia or other production cats. i like a lot about mumby but its old fashioned and very agricultural.
Tell plucky to check out the ten month Windelo prototype round the Atlantic cruise via high latitudes.. by a hybrid and don't forget to insulate and make it comfortable enough or the boat and the crew will be exhausting. That will increase the need for energy and and reduce safety... at sea. Also reduce crew choice. Dazcats are also looking at a highspeed cruiser. Theres also the Rapier 550..

When you smoke fish, you should put a few pieces of sugar in the smoking chips, this way you get a nice color in the fish.
Very cool you and Plucky hooked up. Nice video you all.
Fun video…..thanks, Stanley says hello from the Bahamas!
Covid is bad enough. Strikes help know one. Is what it is I guess. Plucky is a character. One in a million. Thanks again guys. Safe travels.
I hope plucky gets this same catamaran. Looks awesome 🎉
ODC48 a new design evolved from this, the build starts soon.
Similar, building and designing a better one
C’mon people let’s sub to these gems!
Yay!
Love your capture of the scenery..
Good video. Mumby makes a stretched version of the 48, the Mumby 50, right? Thanks.
Yes, I believe that they do. They make three different sizes from what I've heard.
Love my Capt'n Plukkynos!!

Special guest star..Loved it!
Everyones getting Aluminum Cats 😊
It’s da best!
Plukky keeps showing up randomly in every RUclipsrs videos (everyone in the Caribbean)
So glad to see y'all collaborate!
Cheers!!

In one video Plucky mentioned Mumby cats. I googled and that's how I found Jupiter.. :)

Nice boat. I can see why Plucky is always going on about the Mumby.
But he is not building one and has previously made a number of derogatory remarks about them. Plucky says whatever to get what he wants.
