- Fourth season opening and closing theme from "The Love Boat." This particular episode guest starred Loni Anderson, David Doyle, Charles Frank, Allen Ludden, Robert Stack, Village People and Betty White. Enjoy and sing along!
Im Almost 57 years old now. Remember all these vintage Tv shows of 70s . Love ❤️ 🚢 🌞
I spent many Saturday nights watching this show as a kid…damn it really takes me back emotionally to hear that theme song and see those images.
me too!
This theme song was as good as the show. I loved it, and watched it when it premiered, and all through the years until it was canceled. I was 17, and a senior when it first premiered. Most of the guests on the show were popular stars at that time. Some celebs said it was an honor to be on that show. Those wonderful, simplistic 1970s and 1980s!! (Sigh)
I’m currently 17 and a senior and this made me want to be alive during this time ❤ sure seemed nice
Whenever I take a Princes cruise, on sail away, they ALWAYS play the Love Boat theme, leaving the harbour, out to sea. The BEST!!
I think this was, by far, the best opening theme to any show, in history. The background music and Jack Jones singing, was the best.
I love sail aways on Princess. They play the Love Boat Theme over and over. Never gets old!
Betty white and village people. Now I wanna see this episode
Me too!
Add Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty to the mix, and we'll have the most best record breaking LOVE BOAT episode of all times.
Redeye007 Collecting Movies Me too! I used to watch this every week and I don't recall them being on it! :D
Yes me as well
Robert Stack was in the ep. as well
this episode is anything but a unsolved mystery of why it was great
Now THIS was TV...god damnit.
There is nothing that can be said about how great a comment that is!!!
Betty White and The Village People! Would that be a cruise or what?!
and Robert Stack from Unsolved Mysteries as well
talk about a great cruise
This must be one of the best ones ever
Joshua Brunken Robert Stack would’ve brought Ghosts and UFO’s with him. What a party.
@@Repomidnight Loni minus Bert, no COVID .Set a course for adventure.
Wow that is EXACTLY what I was going to write! 😄
FINALLY! The closing theme without a voice over about what's coming up on the evening news! LOL!
I need a Time-Machine,DESPERATELY‼️
Can't stay here anymore. 😩
Can't be stuck here anymore!😭
Amen to that! I too cannot take it any more of being here; reality shows, PC, fake news.
Doc Brown just left with Marty & Einstein. 💥
You would have to get up and walk to the TV to change the station and turn a dial if you go back to when this first aired.
Pretty sure I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when this came out. I'd like to go back. The 70's, 80's and 90's were killer. After that I don't know what the hell happened?
@@MrShortWhiteGuy In 1980 almost all TVs had remote controls; only portable B& W didn't.
This show takes me back to a time when the world was good, people were happy and smiling!
And serial killers were on the rise
Verdade, bons tempos
When the guest stars are way more important than the actual cast!
To think at this point, at 58 yo, Betty White was considered a has-been; yet, her biggest career accomplishments (Golden Girls, Hot in Cleveland, to name just a few) were long into the future.
I'll give you Golden Girls, but Hot in Cleveland is hardly one of her greatest career accomplishments.
Yet Betty was so stunning in the opening and the episode.
All Golden Girls were stunning .... rip
One of the greatest TV themes of all time!
Robert Stack. What a Legend. Unsolved Mysteries one of the best shows ever.
Memorable role in "Airplane!" that year.
@@dirtyoldman7356 And as Agent Flemming from Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.
@@dirtyoldman7356 "Styker, ever propelled a multi-engine boat before?"
"No, never."
"Shitttttttttttttt, this is a goddamn waste of time! There's no way he can dock that boat! Route him through Lake Michigan and avoid killing innocent people."
That theme song is iconic!!! It's my Saturday night childhood!!
Jack Jones made the theme Iconic!
Betty White, Loni Anderson and the Village People...must have been quite a cruise!
I had a crush on Julie, the cruise director as a child. I loved that feeling as a youngster. And that theme, the feeling of happiness that it evokes is second to none... 😍😍😍
@JimmyJames Do you think the need to ruin the innocence of adult peoples childhoods will eventually lead to the need to simply do it with actual children?
Or are they something that simply co-exists?
Too much info. 🤕
@voicesfrombeyond ..i dont believe that BS you just wrote..
Julie on The Love Boat and Bailey on WKRP were my celebrity crushes around that time!!
@@roberttrevino2861 Loni Anderson on WKRP is another crush I had.
I just randomly felt like watching the opening theme to this show a few hours ago today while never really having much interest in it. And now I just learned Gavin Mcleod passed away today. Kinda weird today of all days I suddenly wanted to watch this. May he rest in peace.
Yes that happened to me as well same experience and it was Very sad to hear Gavin mcleod's passing
So nice to remember life when it was good 😊
Wow Betty White and Allen Ludden in the same episode. They're real life husband and wife.
i love the music and the shows. what a classic.
Don't forget--- Gavin McLeod playing the Captain and Betty White go back a long ways to the Mary Tyler Moore show. Luv Betty as Sue Ann Nivens on MTM, she was a hoot !
Perhaps the best ensemble for a situation comedy...ever.
@@bernieudo4399 At least top five.
also, Allen Ludden and Betty White were a married couple in real life (they met? thru their Password Game connection from the 1960s and 70s), until his death not long after this episode.
That explains why Betty White kept calling captain Stubing, Murray lol
Any show with an episode including *both* Betty White and Village People is instantly a recipe for success in my book!
A show with Bob Stack, Betty White AND Village People - never saw that coming!!!
Betty White is STILL on TV in 2021. Let that sink in.
Still gives me goosebumps!
I miss this time people today are cruel and selfish.
@@jeffreybaier5312 So do I, I agree wholeheartedly.

Aaron spelling had such a romantic vision for his shows... What a great opening theme song too!!!
We just lost Gavin McLeod today, May 29th, 2021...besides this show and Mary Tyler Moore, he was on McHale's Navy...
We will never have TV like these shows again.
A wonderful TV show
Fabulous! What other show on earth can you have Loni Anderson...Betty White AND the village people!!
And don't forget Bosley (Charlie's Angels' David Doyle)!
MaleOrderBride They brought their A game that episode!!!
I find myself repeating this clip over and over because 1: THE SONG (ohmygod the LSS is too strong), 2: Gavin MacLeod
Rip Betty

@@jenniferlynn329 yeah she is
@@nala3038 ha. Well, she is *now*.
Robert stack, betty white and village people omg this would be fab
This is when we had TV and movie stars... not just actors.
AMEN TO THAT
This was like snl... every episode a star. Just better... a whole bunch of them!
This was when tv was ACTUAL TV
THANK YOU!!!!
Well stated!
Seeing betty in this made me wish i could go back and watch this episode of this and with her and them all in it just now. So sad that i cant do that right here
Takes me back to happy childhood
Same. Fantasy Island was on right afterwards. No school the next day it was Sunday. Just meet friends and ride your bike and be a kid in the 70s! A simpler time. So sad that's lost forever.
David Doyle ❤️❤️❤️
For those who are interested, this episode is Season 4 Episode 7, which aired 11/22/1980. Because the storylines all had different titles, this episode’s title was, “The Horse Lover / Secretary to the Stars / Julie's Decision / Gopher and Isaac Buy a Horse / The Village People Ride Again"
I watch this sometimes on paramount plus I didn’t watch this when it was on the air
Robert Stack: "Tonight on Unsolved Mysteries, how did I get stuck on a boat with Rose Nylund, Bosley, and the Village People".
One of my grandmothers favorites.thanks!
It make me cry.
La máquina del tiempo perfecta estimados amigos......es esa canción maravillosa que nos traslada a esos recuerdos inolvidables........Dios nos bendiga........!!!
One of my grandmothers favorites.thank you!!
Capt. Stubbing is gone but not forgotten
The best show ever The love boat, special guest stars Village people.
Julie got more gorgeous on the theme song every year. I love when she’s standing in front of the bridge in Australia.
Lauren Tewes really did look more fabulous eavh seson. Once they got volume to her hair, it brought out how gorgeous she was. Ir's a shame her cocaine habit ruined it for her
Imagine the world was as positive as this....
Who out there, as a child of the 1980's, watched The Love Boat? What fan of great music out there really appreciated the theme song?
My Sister Debra Loved....The Love Boat❤🚢❤🚢❤ I remember times I would be talking to her on the phone & I would ask her? What are you doing? She would say she is watching The Love Boat❤ 🚢❤....R.I.P Sis🙏🏽 I Love❤ You💕
God I miss the 80s
Me TV had a Betty White TV memories. One love Boat was on Betty White, Carol Channing. I would have liked to have see Betty White and Allen Ludden Love Boat episodes. They were so cute together and so in love with each other. Sigh!!I also wonder when SNL Is going to show the 2009 show with Betty White as host. I've seen clips. I want to see the whole show. She was so wonderful, my favorite on the Golden Girls. She was so funny in Hot In Cleveland show. That show was so funny. Of course Betty was priceless as Happy Homemaker Sue Anne Nivens. Me TV last showed MTM show 2 hrs. With Betty White as Sue Ann N. So darn good, and funny. I laughed so hard. Betty you are missed. I'm glad they are showing lots of Betty White on UTUBE ❤
I remember this back in the 80s uk 🇬🇧 England here iam 46 now
Loved Love Boat ! Wish I had the DVD set of this show !
Love this show!
Wow! Jill Whelan was just a kid in 1980! Time flies, huh?
She's in her 50s now.
Life's sweetest reward.
Doesn't get any bigger than this -- the village people

Half these people are dead, but Betty White is still going.
RIP Captain Steubing, aka Gavin Mcleod. Fair winds and following seas! 😔
Robert Stack. UNSOLVED MYSTERIES
I didn't think there were many LB episodes I haven't seen, but while I recall both Allen Ludden & Betty White on the show, I don't remember them on it together, and I also don't remember The Village People either. Maybe I can catch this one when it comes around on MeTV soon.
Betty White and her husband just before he passed away. So sad. R.I.P Allen..
Love Bernie so much. To this day he could light my fires. He was gorgeous ♡
R.I.P. Gavin MacLeod
"The Love Boat" was a rare example where the guest line up were given first billing in the opening credits and the regular cast were given second billing.
Moreover, the series regulars were not even referred to by their names in the title sequence, rather by the positions on the ship (with the exception of Julie).
This highlighted the fact that they really were just background players on their own show. The passengers were the priority since they got the bulk of the screen time in a typical episode.
It WAS a great episode!
thanks
The Village People on the love boat! I need to watch this episode.
mi niñes gracias
It's Robert Stack as Agent Flenn, time to do full cavity searches of the entire crew.
Agent Hurley, I want full cavity searches on this ship, crew and passengers alike. Deep and hard!!!
Wouldn't mind doing a Full Cavity Search on Julie
@@robertrodriguez787 Or on Loni Anderson from WKRP.
Love boat was one of the best theme song shows of it time. And Hawaii 5 0.
Vicki was so cute❤
RIP Betty White.
Someone said, hey let's bring back Love American Style, but on a boat! Yeah, that's a great idea! And it was a great idea and no one seemed to notice or care, it was Love American Style retooled!
I saw this episode in August & I remember a quote from the captain: when u have a horse & name it after me, that horse had better win!
Season 4, Episode 7 Secretary to the Stars; Julie's Decision; The Horse Lover; Gopher and Isaac Buy a Horse
First Aired: November 22, 1980
Destination: the Acapulco Steeplechase. Passengers: the Village People, an international playboy, and real-life marrieds Allen Ludden and Betty White. Kim: Loni Anderson. Julie: Lauren Tewes.
ok this goes hard at 1:40
Let it flow!!!
Let The Orinoco Flow!
It floats back to yooooooou…
Also the TV version style is much better than the disco 'hit' release.

R.I.P. Gavin MacLeod. February 28, 1931-May 29, 2021
And for those not in the US - Allen Ludden and Betty White was married
*were
James Dooling Yes, Allen "Mr. Password" Ludden passed in June, 1981 at the age of 63. He was married to Betty for 18 years (his first wife also passed from cancer; she was twice divorced). In fact, this episode aired after his final appearance as host of "Password Plus." A combination of a stroke and stomach cancer. Betty stated many times that Allen was the love of her life and, after he passed, never remarried. As of April 14, 2018, it is very unlikely that, at age 96, this would change.
@@libertubey2199 I saw a clip of "The Actors' Studio". James Lipton asked Betty White what she'd want to hear when she got to heaven. She replied something along the lines of: "Welcome to Heaven! Here's Allen."
@SHLITZI 😂😂😂
Que tiempos que volvieran a pasarlas aquí en México
Vicki was the Cousin Oliver of The Love Boat.
In no way was she a Cousin Oliver. She came in Season Two of a ten season show, grew up on the show for nine years, and as a young girl, she perfectly balanced out a cast with four men, two of them older, and one woman. Guys don’t even notice that.
@@ravenel2 Ted McGinney was the Cousin Oliver.
who is Cousin Oliver?
@@melissachartres3219 A character on _The Brady Bunch_ , he appeared in the last season when the producers thought the kids in the cast were getting old and were no longer cute. Viewers did not like the character. The term "cousin Oliver Syndrome" was coined to describe children who are added to aging TV shows to boost ratings.
It was a Mary Tyler Moor show reunion for Gavin Macleod and Betty White, even if it was just for one episode of the Love Boat
Who in the hell is David Doyle hooking up with... one of the Village People? LMAO
He was Bosley on Charlie's Angels.
And then later did the voice for Lou Pickles on Rugrats until his death in 1997
I could see him with the construction worker.
He's the alternate 'love interest' for the Betty White character who is being neglected by her husband... so she seeks companionship elsewhere.
Siempre me gustó esta serie. Me habría gustado escribir algunos guiones para la serie. Y la música...¡realmente maravillosa!
0:14 Mr. Password, Allen Ludden
My goodness they certainly pulled all the stops to invite everyone on that show if they had only invited *_Louis Farrakhan, Larry Flynt and Motley Crue_* then that would've been a *hell* of an episode.
This was in the days of the "Carnivale Festivale and Mardi Gras". They were the only 3 ships Carnival Cruise Lines had at that time. Ships were large then but you could run into a stranger a few times. Now they're so huge and getting even bigger that it's like seeing a stranger in a city; chances are you won't encounter them again. Ships are starting to look like a building on its side and in my opinion loosing the attractive traditional ship curves and looking more like a rectangle.
Cruise lines are getting out of hand, now. People go on cruises to get away from the crowds, not run into them at sea.
i bought the ringtone🤣🤣
This may be one of the only intros with the title card in the middle.

Wow talk about a Star packed episode. My favorite though was always Vicki. She was my first TV crush. She was 14, I was 10. I guess it just wasn't to be. Lol

Yes, on Princess voyages, for Sure!
