Mr. Russell Moore played with many other great musicians around the world, including Louis Armstrong. He was a brilliant musician who inspired me since I met him when I was a young organist at the Presbyterian Church in Nyack, NY. I am so grateful to have know him and his dear wife Ida who taught grade school with my mother. Thank you Mr. Moore for your support. I will always remember you.

my father loved jazz music but it wasn't until he got Alzheimer's and Parkinson's that he wouldn't stop going on about "big chief Russell Moore" i never remember as a child seeing any records of him just Armstrong and Sidney berchet or George Gershwin . he insisted there was a trombone player who played the Wabash blues now trying to google this 6 years ago was a mission nothing to be found not one barely a mention. hope this makes sense cheers i found it and hummed it to him and he started humming it with me even though he had been able to communicate for 2 weeks especially the WAAAw wAA WAA BAA BA WAAW WAAW WA lol i know he was happy BUT WHAT A FUNNY MAN CHEERS DAD respect His previous comments were i learnt to play the boogie woogie in boarstal haha lovely tune x

Awesome, he's an inspiration to me,one of the few of us able to "break through" and show everyone what we can do. I hip everyone I can to "Big Chief". Thank you for commenting!

How did he do those sounds? I play Tenor and Bass bones but couldn't do that ever!

Hes using a mute and plunger in the sections you are talking about.

Wow I wonder how he makes those effects

Typically, with a plunger mute, with a hole in the center. The plunger is the wah wah sound, some double tonguing synced with that. For the really stopped sound like a harmon mute, that's the plunger pressed tight against the bell, hence the need for the hole to let sound and air out.
