      That's fabulous. I had an accident on my bike on Jan 2 this year - the city just sort of forgot to finish cleaning and de-icing a bike path - - - i have always driven all year long on a bike - i am now 60 years old and for the first time have rips in the ligaments around the knee - the doctors just said - here take pain pills - which just made me vomit and i demanded a physiotherapist - that man is wonderful -but it has taken a long time to figure out what is going to work. Yesterday put tape on my - 6 months and the first time i've been able to see my knee cap!!!

    I’m a football player that worries so much about my performances , I got my ligament injured I was asked by the doctor to wait for 100days, I just can’t,to me football is not just a sport it’s life. I started using knee pads but I realized they do compress my knees which results to more pains and I can’t even control well the ball. My knees also get knackered easily. I read about knee taping and I think it’s the right choice. My questions are after knee taping, can I play football? will taping enhance my knee strength and easiness? Thanks 🙏

    I have knee pain for the past 7 months. I recently found out that my knee cap is slightly tilted and that's what causing the inflammation and the pain. Will taping the knee during the day, combined with physiotherapy, help reduce the pain and the knee cap grinding on the bone?

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  6 лет назад +6

      It will help as long as the taping is done correctly by someone like me, then you need to try and strengthen the inner quadricep muscles and is called the vastus medialis - the physio should know, good luck. JG

Ankle is a little puffy, just a little bit though. Knee not swollen but is unconformable. Anyways he can use tape and use compression sleeves at the same time? If tape comes off when taking a shower can he just use compression sleeves during the whole day to reduce swelling?

    I have arthritis and chondromalcia/patella tracking issues. In addition, I have torn a meniscus. I do PT to strengthen quads, but use taping when I play tennis. Is the general Patellafemoral taping method the correct method for me? Do you find any preference in tape? Just using plain strips or in the pre-cut "Y" type strips? I really appreciate your videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  9 лет назад +3

      The taping technique I show is probably the best one to try for you and help reduce some of your symptoms. Its not the overall answer to your problem as the technique is only helping the pain but not treating the cause but I am sure it will help. I tend to use one roll of tape 5cm by 5 meters and I individually cut and design the length and shape of the tape for the patients.

    Good evening sir
    Sir what is logic behind stretching of tape,100%,50,to 20% stretch

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  3 года назад +1

      If you take out all the stretch of the tape then it will provide a lot more stability, I use that to stabilise ankle inversion sprain - however, ktape is not really been designed for that as such as it is functional taping so means you can wear during sports and activities so it cannot restrict the motion of that limb, which is what sports tape does. Less is sometimes best in terms of application of stretch as the tape is there to provide a lift to the tissues and provide some support, which potentially can assist in lymphatic drainage. There are not many studies to show exactly why the different types of stretch to the tape. Hope that helps, regards JG

    I have chondromalacia patella and am on my feet for hours at a time. Knee starts off with pain but when it swells it does not hurt anymore. Is this the best for me or your 5 finger taping on another video?

      J Carson I would try the technique I show in this video as it is probably the best one for you. Good luck!

    I spend a lot of time on my feet and walking around, as well as bending at the knee (often over bending) when I am at work. I have started to have knee pain both when I am at work as well as when I am at rest. The pain is mainly above my patella, and the area seems a bit swollen. Would this be the best taping technique for me? (I also try to ice when I get home as well as propping up my feet when I am on breaks (as my feet also hurt from my job, but it seems to help my knee some too))

      Thanks for the message and the taping technique is worth a try at least as it will probably help you.

    Okay, where can I purchase the tape? Both my knees are bad, my right shoulder and elbow, left ankle and hip. And, for how long do you do this technique? This video created more questions than answers.

    I had a motorbike accident, the car hit me from the back i think the first thing happen s that i fell on my knee, the out outer soft part of the knee joint gut a hit and the bone was shown so it had stitches, after 2 month i still feel pain when i walk and feel like its swollen and when i stand for a long period of time and i walk my knee dont move as normal its slow like it needs oil, i went for a run couple days ago and when running there was no pain.
    is the Kinesiology Tape can heal it and i can move as normal?

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  9 лет назад

      Maher Alsayid The KTaping technique will help reduce swelling and pain but it won't actually fix the overall problem and yes you will be able to move you knee as normal and you can leave the tape on for 3-5 days. God luck!
