your round sponges go on the very bottom tray and your media and chemical filtration go in the middle and top trays. You put it together backwards. Flow goes UP the center, not down it.
Thank you so much! I’ll look more into it but I remember from somewhere the water hits the top first and goes down. I will be swapping in before it’s moved into the house, scaped and ready to cycle.
your wrong, clean water exits the bottom tray back to the tank, why would you want your bio media to get clogged full of crap and then use a sponge to hold it all in there.
your basket tray sponges are all missing, carbon sponges are useless so ditch those to. For the top basket I would use filter wool in the red tray and your chemical under it in the same basket, usually chemical comes after biological but you will end up wasting another tray, also it's easier to maintain if you keep everything that needs replacing regularly in the top tray as you don't need to tear the whole filter down to do it. Middle and bottom trays fill both with matrix leaving the second red tray out as a spare if needed.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I saw a video about having it that way for maintenance purposes. The filter sponges came in late last week and I put them in. I’m working on a stand that I hope to finish in a couple of weeks so I can bring the tank inside and scape it. I appreciate all the advise. I’m pretty new to the hobby
It’s sold. It quieted down a bit after. It was dried out when I got it as you could imagine so after 48 hours it was significantly better. But nothing compared to the fx6 🤫
Yeah, sounded like rocks in the pump haha but the condition of the tank wouldn’t surprise me if that were the case. The next video will be building the living room stand for the tank

First!
Dang that HOB is one noisy filter. As noisy as it is you may have a hard time selling that.
