Super helpful. I had the same issue with my CN 100th anniversary Scaletrains. I removed the shell and reattached and no problem. Remember two screws under the front trucks and then you have to remove both couplers and their boxes first in order to remove the shell. Thank you for the video.
No complaints just electronic bugs in the ditch lights. If this makes you feel better: non model train related my closet ceiling 💡 light has a similar problem. Its dark it flickers from dark to light some reason I tried turning it and: it fixed itself! Much like your engine did!🤣🤣🤣🤣well at least you introduced your foamed cushioned repair base. How i need one! Behind the scenes were great. From your viewers point of view a perfect 10 including humor. 😃 Well done. 👍👏👏👏👏

As a person that owns one, get a Bachmann (or MTH if you can find it) Pere Marquette 1225, will be a great edition to the steam locomotives and will be a definite highlight of the roster.
Adding a 0.005” or 0.01” piece of styrene below the ditch light circuit board (the ones with the contact pins) would also solve the problem, without having to over tighten the couple screw.
The lights are LEDs so maybe checking the connection between the shell and the circuitboard to see if they are clean might help. But also yes the circuitboard could not be touching the ditch lights so that’s why one would only flash because the other is not touching. it’s not tight enough that’s also could be a possible theory.
