    I would add this: A TRAIN OF DELIGHTS. It is interesting how you can take a locomotive in disrepair for years and make it happy again. You videos are fun and intelegent to watch. I have had one O scale train and that is about it; but, I have learned so much watching your work that I am beginning to understand how these engines and trains work. I have a son who turns 50 this December who has a really neat N scale lay out. I have always enjoyed watching him play with his trains and since I have been watching your videos, I understand why he is so delighted with his layout. Keep up the fon and intresting videos Harrisom, they are the best I have seen.

  • @ATDCC_Colby

    Nice to see everything running again! I like the format of restoring a collection of engines in a single video, especially considering the amount of projects you have. It would be cool to have an even longer video with a similar concept, or even building up an entire train (engines and cars, similar to what you did with your Amtrak set but with the engines) in a single video like this. I had a switcher with similar gearing upgrades, and I got rid of mine simply because I wasn’t a fan of the slow speed. I’ve been told the upgrade was an ernst gear upgrade, and yours seems really similar. I also like the repair on the life like truck, I’ve had the issue before and have never found a good solution. I might have to try your idea out next time I encounter another.

  • @markwilliams2620
    @markwilliams2620 5 месяцев назад +1

    The Athearn SW probably has Enrst reduction gearing. It was an aftermarket kit to give it the slow speed. I put one in my GP-9 and tookit out. Too slow. Works in an SW.
    That AHM has the same issues they all do. The front truck breaks off too easily, and it's a HORRIFIC model of a C-Liner. The Proto 1000 is miles above it.
    Edit: I've watched you pull many locomotives back from the grave but your work on that Daylight was outstanding. Kudos!!

    Great video as always. I got to say something about the blue box locos. If you replace the gears with the new gears that they make they have some type of plastic near the area where they usually split which prevents that from happening again. Also I noticed when the drive shaft fell apart, I had the same thing hapen on mine. I replaced it with a product from A-line number 12030 - Universal Joints & Coupling Assortment. Because they are so hard to come by. Using the ethernet cable to replace the wiring on that daylight was using the ethernet cable to replace the wiring on that daylight was by far amazing. Great MacGyvering

    Quite the assortment and quite the interesting fixes! I recently got back into model railroading in no small part thanks to your videos and recently bought a small lot of HO locomotives, most of which have had examples featured on your channel! (2 Life-Like F40PHs, a Tyco F unit and two 90s Bachmann F units) It was quite the simple task getting them running as I was already familiar with the mechanisms involved.
    Shortly after buying that first lot I managed to come across someone selling a whole bachmann overland limited set for super cheap! It seems to be usin' the same mechanism as the GS4 there, although it doesn't have any fancy features, or even a tender with electrical pickup. Sure does look nice runnin' down the track though!
