When Ale was16 yrs old, Davis Bendeth, the producer of their 3rd album, said "Ale can hang with the best of them." The amazing thing is, she can play those bass runs and sing intricate vocals like it is second nature.....because it is. TEAM ALE!
These women have 70 years of rock'n'roll history in their toolbox - and they are masters (mastresses?) of all the tools inside it. Those grungy bends downwards are killing me each time.
The musical philosophy of this band is simple, only do what the song, the music is calling for, no ego, no virtuosic display for self-gratification, just the music. Also they have released a few live performances of new songs from their upcoming album. Hell You Call A Dream from Pepsi Centre and Automatic Sun from Tecate Pa'l Norte Festival are fantastic.
Ale at just 18 years old here is so subtly nasty with that bass. Dany's little half smile at the end says it all - "Yeah, we killed it." Love it! Great reaction and breakdown.

They have historically written all of their own music but for the first time they have started having others come in and write with them for this song and other songs off of their upcoming album, Keep Me Fed. I think they said they wanted to expand their horizons a bit and they have also been very busy touring while writing for this album. This particular song's writing credits include Dany, Pau, and Ale along with Danielle NIcole Rubio and Anton Curtis DeLost (who is also the producer on this album.)
Speaking as a fine artist, a painter, the hardest thing to learn is eliminating all of the information that is superfluous and doesn’t need to be included leaving only what needs to be there to convey the message. The Warning are far beyond their years in being able to do this.
As musicians, these girls tend to be underrated because they aren't flashy or over the top technical. They serve the song and don't look to be showy. Ale has had some funk and jazz bass training by Pablo Gonzales Sarre her longtime instructor and teacher of music theory for the band.

All their songs on their albums, even for "Escape the Mind", are careful and meticulous _compositions_ - not just "song writing" that a lot of rock bands do. They have always been very careful about the details of _constructing_ a piece. They notably do very little improvisation on stage; outside of some "audience participation" and otherwise "organics" that happen in any concert, pretty much what you hear on the studio album is what you get in concert. One commenter I read a long time ago put it perfectly (I'm paraphrasing slightly here): _Most bands struggle to duplicate their studio sound on stage. If you've not seen them live yet, you gotta do it! I'm heading home to California after seeing them with Band Maid in Tokyo! What a show! They closed the show with both bands on stage playing a new song they worked out over the two weeks before the event! Seeing Pau and Akane scorching their drum kits side by side, staring into each other's eyes while Ale and Misa stood side by side hammering the bass, and Dany/Saike belting out the lyrics was an emotional/spiritual experience. this song has a pop feel to it that kinda alienated a few fans at first. to me for some reason it reminds me a little bit of mid 90's No Doubt Gwen Stefani. I don't know if the MTV crowd is what they had in mind writing this song, but to me it was the perfect fit for MTV and the pop crowd. draw them in with something somewhat familiar to them then hit them with Evolve for their second song. only a few fans their knew who they were at the time. The warning left with a lot more fans. More loosened the roof, Evolve blew it into orbit.
There was quite a bit of time between More being released and the MTV VMAs, so I think More was very carefully selected for the audience and because of its performability. I seem to recall hearing the band talk about how More, is a fun song to perform.
I know that More was released quite some time before the MTV performance, and that it was probably specifically chosen for that crowd. I'm just wondering out loud if it was written for that type of crowd on purpose. It has such a powerful crossover appeal, that can draw the pop crowd in and expose them to rock music at the same time. It has a sound that can be played on both rock and pop stations.
@@biglew1161 This was the first of their songs we heard that came from the co writing sessions, which I think is one of the 2 main reasons the feel of it varies from the previous 2 albums, but it still has what is becoming the unmistakable style of The Warning which I can't resist. I'm ready for more of what they have offer it's like their first, second, third or this upcoming fourth album.
Oh sure. The sisters could show off. But part of their track's magic is what they DON'T play. And their grooves (thank you Pau) are relentless. Just for the heck of it, check your heart rate when you are listening to one of their songs. I did. It was identical to the beat. And it stayed there for the entire song!
They have 3 studio albums and 1 EP, 40+ original songs and they write everything themselves: melody, instruments, lyrics. Their upcoming album "Keep me fed", which this song is part of, is the first time they worked with co-writers. Now, this is pure speculation on my part based on interviews and random tidbits here and there, but I think that even though they worked with other people, the girls still did most of the heavy lifting in the writing process for this new album.
They sounds amazing because they have to much talent and some special features like the exclusiva Ale's Inferno Spector bass, the incredible Dany's voice and the drums sound is just the Pauwer ⚡⚡⚡.
Lead single, released last year, from the upcoming 4th album, Keep Me Fed which is due out is a couple weeks on the 28th. The studio version was recorded with a wooden block, but the "Pau-Bell" is used live, Pau had to add it to her kit. This song has been played on the radio ,as well as the album's 2nd single "S!ck". 6 singles are out, "Hell You Call A Dream", "Que Mas Quieres", "Automatic Sun", and "Burnout" are the others. Next for TW, suggest Pau singing lead on "Dust to Dust" live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022.
as for your "deja vu" moment .... go listen to Blondie's _Heart of Glass_ and then report back to me. i also have a deja vu moment in their song _Hunter_ -- the intro riff always makes me think of _Aqualung_ . the half-step slide seems to be a staple in their songs, and they always leverage it in the most effective way i've ever heard. as a former aspiring bassist, Ale's style really fascinates me ... her lines seem accessible enough to want to try to learn while at the same time is complex and busy enough to keep you from getting bored and you'll feel like a badass when you hit it. that's a hard balance to hit consistently.
Regarding my earlier comment, search for "how I ended up right in front of Dany". This should turn up a video of the fan in the checkered shirt (Soul Exchange) in the "Evolve" video from the MTV VMAs, in which he talks about the experience and how the unknowing audience became The Warning fans. Also, there's a video "aftermovie" or vlog of TWs experience there. A couple things to note: They may not have played to a click track -- tech difficulties. They rely on Ale in cases like that. And the show producer swore (literally) that he was now a fan. YT is random about posting comments with links; I'll try in a separate one.
yes these girls use their harmonies like a 4th instrument and Ale and Pau purposely compliment each other throughout their songs as a way to sound bigger
Thanks Shawka...glad you picked up on the "Pau Bell"....they add so so much to their performances that are missed. great reaction...There is so much talent on this stage right here it is simply mind boggling... MORE please.

as a former aspiring bassist, Ale's style really fascinates me ... her lines seem accessible enough to want to try to learn while at the same time is complex and busy enough to keep you from getting bored and you'll feel like a badass when you hit it. that's a hard balance to hit consistently.
😘
yes these girls use their harmonies like a 4th instrument and Ale and Pau purposely compliment each other throughout their songs as a way to sound bigger
Thanks Shawka...glad you picked up on the "Pau Bell"....they add so so much to their performances that are missed. great reaction...There is so much talent on this stage right here it is simply mind boggling... MORE please.
My pleasure!!
I don't know if the commercial that you saw is this song, but More is in a commercial from Pepsi, and Ale does so well this commercial like a sing and play your bass in this song. Greetings from Argentina
Ale! 😎
I just found your channel watching your 1st reaction to The Warning and subbed ❤ you should react to their Hell You Call A Dream live at the Pepsi Center & Automatic Sun live music video next!! You’ll love them I promise!
Yes in a Pepsi commercial!
I saw a comment recommending their live sessions series of videos, which I assume they were referring to the Mayday EP live sessions. I love these. I consider the live session video to be the official video for the song “Z”.

The song was part of a Pepsi commercial. That's why you may have heard it. Greetings from Argentina
I swear...Ale's bass moves/body motions are 10 X better than Elvis's! lol
