The video was put together in one week. They shot it at Tecate Pa’l Norte in Monterrey on March 31st. The video team is led by Ivan Chavez, recent graduate of the University of Monterrey film school. The team he leads is top notch. His first major TW video was the Metropolitan concert.
I don’t think it was a coincidence they released this the Friday before the eclipse happening on Monday

"Their video team has just stepped up" Honestly they've always been good, throwing out great aesthetics with minimal resources, so I think they just have more resources and the video team is as good as ever ;) Thx for the reaction. I think there is a slight nod to Rammstein with the stage pyrotechnics on this performance. You can see the sisters investing in their live cred.
What's trully impressive about the video is that this concert was earlier THIS week. So this was a rush effort getting the video out by now.
And they did an amazing job. Like over the top amazing.
Having done video editing I am sure that there was a lot of Red Bull and Coffee involved.

I've watched this new vid several times this morning, every time with a massive grin on my face. That bass heavy bridge is just delicious.
They have not only become great songwriters, but they are excellent arrangers.

Tom, There isn't one that works. 3 days before AS dropped, Maine had an ice storm and I was without power for 5 days, so no internet, no phone service, no nothing. Cold turkey doesn't work either!! They are like Oxygen.

I am so with you on this 1! S!CK was my fav, but this 1... especially that outro.. As far as I'm concerned they could've jammed on that another 20-30 secs! Total song, with everything a rocker needs. They Warned us, "You have no idea what's coming" before they dropped this bomb!

I agree. The only complaint I have with Automatic Sun is Ale's solo could have have gone on a few seconds longer. And that's not because it 's really needed but just because it is so freaking cool to listen to.
From what I’ve gathered from interviews the girls gave the song is about how much they love what they do even though it can be hard, grueling and exhausting at times
Great analysis video Ken. The choices Pau makes for her drum composition here are quite unique. I really appreciate her thinking outside the box on this song - how many drummers would choose a swing beat on a song this hard (if you listen carefully there is a spot where she plays a shuffle on the hats in the studio recording). Terrific song.
Yes Paulina really mixed it up on this one! Pau outdid herself and with everything we've seen her do over the years that's going some!
That is one of the reazons she was voted Best rock drummer last yesr. Not only because of her drummimg and performing skills but also her creativity on building an amazing combination of several drum styles.
wow I heard so many different things in this... I'm probably crazy but I thought I even heard a little Rammstein somewhere in there. (not vocals obviously) or maybe my brain was influenced by all the pyro. in any case this was phenomenal
I even heard some Tiny Tim doing Tiptoe Through the Tulips......if he had been driving a tank instead of tiptoeing.
Very good analysis bro, so many things happen in the song that we can't identify, but for a musician like you they are easy to detect instantly.

Nice, thoughtful reaction as always, Ken. You manage to be very appreciative without going all fan-boy. This is like the culmination of what we all thought they could be, and I shudder joyfully to think what might come next. Pau to me is just reaching another level with her sick drumming -- very satisfying and impressive. I like where they're going with their lyrics -- injecting more sensuality, which was bound to happen sooner or later. That growly outro could be grown into a whole new song; I could listen to that for a very long time. Our rock band of little girls is now so womanly and heavy, and I love it a lot! 🤩

Dan Lancaster is one of the producers, so yeah, muse influence!
Some are saying Muse inspo but for me this is heavily Royal Blood. They have those dirty riffs on a lot of their tracks and the shifting tempo. Not a bad thing because obviously the girls make anything their own.
I believe it is just the Warning-sound. Inspirition can they get from everywhere, just like every other band. We will hear it in Haarlem, what it sounds live! PS saw/heard them in Nijmegen last year, was great. Royal Blood was for me mwaaa, in Nijmegen and by the concert of Muse. But everyone has his own opinion.
@@roostjoh for sure. They do their own thing but obviously have their inspiration. I was at the Amsterdam concert last yeah but had to miss Royal Blood because I had an early shift the next day.
Yeah, I've been hearing Royal Blood in their sound ever since "MORE" dropped. They've supported both Muse and Royal Blood in concert, so they clearly have a lot of love for the groups.

I think you are totally right in your take about the song, this song and others are about them having fun and hate at the same time in their circle of fame or being more famous than before very good reaction.

Your “fame” analysis, I think, is right on. The lyrics from their songs are pretty much consistent. In a couple of interviews they said this album was different in the sense that it wasn’t their traditional darker themes but one that was them wanting to have fun. Taking your assessment along with their comments, I think the context of fun was meaning that was of their playing their music differently and the lyrics being the outlet of where they’re at, status wise, with their progression as a band and sharing how it is from the inside looking out which is us not being there would know. So it’s just another aspect of them sharing their feelings with their listeners through their songs. The Warning being The Warning. I think Automatic Sun just might be the song that gets the attention from the industry enough for them to think it’s radio worthy though I think there are a few others that should be as well. Not only do I think it’s their best off the new album so far, the song, as in the past, once again seems to blend multiple genres in one which is another layer of their musical talent and uniqueness that can be appealing to a broader audience. ⚠️⚡️⚡️⚡️
I'll take a band that mixes genres over a band that sticks to formula any day. Thanks for the well thought out comment. Fun to play definitely didn't mean lyrics about puppies and unicorns. Rush wrote fun to play music but the lyrics always had meaning.

I love the dynamics in this song, they keep you guessing the whole time.
As for the guitar, from what musicians were saying on Patreon and my visual confirmation online, the new guitar seems to be a Fender Jim Root Strat, I may be wrong, but I seem to remember Dany mentioning that she used a baritone guitar on the new album, so some were suspecting that it maybe has a baritone neck or if not maybe she tuned it down to drop C or even some thought drop B and lastly could an harmonizer be used in the Kemper to attain that bassier sound, what do you think?
It is in fact a baritone Strat. Custom Shop as it's loaded with humbuckers and has her signature on the back of the (70s style) headstock. Baritones are typically tuned B-B but she's got it tuned A-A, which explains why Ale's using the Inferno bass instead of the Hyper Blue.

They do such a great job of not giving anything away in the teaser cuz the part from the teaser sounds a lot better in the context of the full song. I completely agree about the drum mix and I loved the tapping/sliding thing Dany did. The tone of the guitar and the bass was fantastic too!
That teaser did have me a bit worried but the payoff of the punch in the nuts of that opening when we were expecting mainstream was worth it.
There is a very strong possibility that Ale may be the coolest human on planet Earth.

"Wow." I had the same reaction. In general, we in the TWA are spoiled by the fact that they ALWAYS sound better live. That's just a fact. This song is on another level of songwriting/layering/effects, etc. This composition is a masterful endeavor of work in the studio. Live, they may have to rely more on some of the backing tracks but...WOW. It is incredible. As for the meaning of "automatic sun" it may well mean that we all feel better when we feel the sun on our face...but if we stay too long we risk getting burned. Great reaction.

A sun is what the planets gravitate toward & rotate around. Automatic Sun is a metaphor for someone (or something) that draws you in as soon as you are close to them/it. That charismatic or desirable thing you have to be around.
Dany and Ali are Both Turned to Drop (A) Dany's Fender Baritone Guitar and Ali's Inferno Bass Guitar. Talk about Heavy Sounding. Wow. Pau's Drums do sound Amazing. Her Quad Drum Roll Right Before the Bass break down is other worldly. Great Reaction . The Warming -The Best The World Has To Offer..

Definitely influenced by Muse, Danny doing some things similar to Matt Bellamy on the guitar, especially in the beginning. She also did it in
S!CK. If The Warning is not filling out stadiums or arenas by next year, I worry about the music listening public of today!
The difference is I can only listen to a few Muse songs in a row before I move on to something else. The Warning will play for hours and then repeat and I don't get bored.
For me, the "automatic sun" is the spotlight, the stage lights.
The video showcases it a couple of times, in one of them, "the sun" is next to Ale if I remember correctly.
If this is true, the decision to record this video during a live performance in their Hometown is specially smart, they always strike me as specially aware of how they're being perceived, but all the singles from KMF so far are specially aware and like breaking the 4th wall.

The live in Madrid version defo lacked subtle groove on the guitar and Dani singing softly. The guitars Kemper amp sim settings aren't transferring to live yet. The drop tune is on a new Fender guitar, but maybe Dani should use a baritone guitar, for more weight. They'll polish this up sooner than later, I expect.
Oops, the Fender is a baritone guitar. I'll say then, Ale could set her bass to split the signal in the way Royal Blood does it. An octave higher with a distortion pedal.
I don't understand how the songs can be so distinctive and yet also make total musical sense. Such great writing.
I think their songs are not self-referential about their lives as artists. I think they and their team have set goals and know that they have to work very hard to prevail (they are already doing it) and then stay in the industry. I think they are happy with their career and perhaps at some point they need to regulate their exposure, but now is their time to show what they are capable of. We will see a lot of The Warning all over the planet. There will be signs.
So, this is similar to 'Money' studio track played over (synced) to the 2022 Foo Fighter show?
I think their decision to make this more stylized and not just straight synced performance was a good idea. A real step up in production since they were able to put real planning into it.

Four days from shooting to release. Don't give DeLost to much credit. Dan Lanacaster who has played with Muse the last few years helped produce some of the new songs and I think this is one of them.
If that drum sound is an indicator of Dan then I hope he did the majority of the rest.

I have to say this experiment found a Eureka sound !absolutely phenomenal. The entire warning team and both producers got a really cool sound. Dany really amazed me with her vocal transitions and guitar work. The bass and drum work so damn cool. 🤘⚡️🤘

This reminds me when I heard CHOKE for the first time. It was like been hit by a truck, but with this song is like if I was hit by a train. Just the intro blows me away but the outro, man, this whole song is next level
I was the same with Choke because it was their first song that was produced by a legend and it showed.

All concerns about not playing PRS on this song are washed away.
I thought HYCAD was gonna be my favorite on the album, but I don't think so now.
This and HYCAD switch back and forth in my head now.
After all the live versions I've seen, this isn't one of them. Dani’s part is a production, she doesn't come close to this live. They have a Fabulous videography team.

There's an chance some of the guitar downtuning live will be done with the Kemper, since pitch changing pedals for guitars are available. German metal guitarist Jasmin Pabst (known from the JJsonegirlband YT channel) use an Digitech Wammy DT for exactly that when on tour with band, since it means she can play an full set with only one guitar. When an different tuning are needed she just have to turn an knob. Not highend perfect, but according to her so good it works for playing live or in an band mix. She,s right now on a big successful european tour with a power metal band called All For Metal.
Dany is playing a baritone guitar on this song tuned to B , she got 2 new custom fender strats to bring on tour , the black baritone and a pink standard tuned strat , although there specked out more like early charvels , 1 volume and 2 humbuckers

Another comment : I do get goosebumps during HYCAD when Dany unleashes the full chest voice notes, "more", and "I just want to breathe". So it's hard to pick out a favorite. Wish I spoke Spanish so I could enjoy Que Mas Quieres mas...
That Stratocaster is a BARITONE guitar that I believe is double-tracked. Between Dany’s baritone guitar and Ale’s bass tone, the instrumental parts are MASSIVE.

I do have 2 vocal covers in the works as well as another that is close to done and 1 that I just have to record the vocals for. Just busy with other things and haven't been able to finish them. But I will.

I honestly think this album is going to get up there with Def Leppard's 'Hysteria.'
That album had six or seven brilliant singles, this album has four (and now five), and counting.
No, you’re not wrong. There’s a definite theme throughout the lyrics of all the songs for this album so far. All the way back to ‘MORE’. Whether happy accident or secret hollowed-out-volcano level plan from Pau I’m just happy to be along for the ride. Songs that are “just fun to play” and “not that deep” for Pau are still next-level genius to us mere mortals😊
Instant classic, Ken. The clarity is topnotch. And lyrics? Who uses "psychosomatic" love? Same one who sings "palpable but hidden in the sound". Written in their second language.
Comments from Dany indicates this one is about missing the energy and feelings one gets from someone who is not there. Interesting that we don't see much about their relationships, given the common theme of relationship songs, often dark.
