The seal Link creates at the end of Skyward Sword in the past, is the seal he fights to maintain throughout the game. Whether or not the Master Sword is contained within the sealing spike and simply summoned back by Impa after Demise is crushed or not… it’s somewhat unclear. But the seal only reacts to Link throughout the game (even haunts him at the start) and the sealing spike has the emblems of Din, Nayru, and Farore… of whose flames he used to create the sword. BUT… the reason I point this out is that it’s important to note that the Triforce is what actually eradicated Demise in the end. People seem to, for whatever reason, think the Master Sword sealing was the last we saw of Demise and if the sword breaks or something, he’s suddenly back. Present day, chronologically, Link made a wish to the Triforce to “completely eradicate” Demise. That was the last of Demise, timeline-wise… the rest happens in the past. Hence, because of the Triforce wish, his spirit has only been able to return born anew as Ganondorf. Having Demise return to the world would literally go against the lore of the Triforce itself- unless a wish was made for his revival. However, since he seems to be a being outside the realm of time, I could see it possible to have him still exist in a completely different dimension where he’s sorta pulling the strings (via influencing Ganon’s motives) from far beyond. Afterall, Ganon once wished to the Triforce to rule the world, and that only managed to turn the Sacred Realm into the Dark World. It’s possible Link’s Triforce wish only fully eradicated Demise from Hyrule’s world and not literally all of existence. But my only point of contention here is… he can’t just suddenly be back in Hyrule because that would be a direct contradiction to the Triforce.
I’ve gone through the same thought experiment you went through. Yes, Demise is destroyed in the present time of SS. That’s why Ghirahim has to take Zelda back in time, because Demise is not eradicated and he has just been sealed by Hylia (thus counteracting the Triforce wish). So he’s still alive in the past. Now in this past, Demise’s body gets destroyed but his mind gets sealed inside of the Master Sword and will slowly decay. What Nintendo doesn’t mention is that there are two timelines created: one where Link succeeds and one where he fails, just like the Downfall Timeline. We only see Link succeed, but there is technically a completely different timeline where he fails. And this would be an alternative timeline different from the one we know that splits in Ocarina of Time, this would be the alternate timeline you’re referring to!
Or ganondorf becomes demise, Zelda becomes hylia, link becomes that zonai. When Zelda looks up with surprise and says link in the trailer, I don’t think she’s remembering but realizing.
@@wizcatcheslightning There is no current timeline split in the story of Skyward Sword, if I get what you’re trying to say. Demise being revived in the past happened no matter what. Time did not change or split. The old lady Impa has the bracelet given to her by Zelda for the whole game.
@@WindMageMaster exactly, we’re following the timeline we’ve always followed that leads to OOT. But if Link goes back in time and fails, well then a different Hyrule/timeline exists where Evil triumphed over Good. It’s not canon (yet) because Nintendo has been tight lipped about it.
The hair on dead Ganondorf looks like the hair on the demise looking guy, so the possibility of 2 Ganondorf could be possible. You can see in the art, that this Ganondorf doesn't have tentacle-like hair, but the dead one does.
I think there are at least two timelines interconnected and I also think that the "hero" of the tapestry in BOTW that sealed the Calamity away was not an ancestor of Link but Ganondorf. Notably the "Zelda" in the tapestry has reddish skin which seems very similar to the skintone of the "Hylia" in the trailer.

SS is without a doubt one of the best Zelda games not only was it fun to play but it’s story is so important because it gives us the origin story of everything including why Ganondorf has always managed to come back. When the tears trailer in 2021 came out it finally made sense why they brought SS to the switch because of the sky islands by I always believed there were more reasons why they did that and these things that might be happening in tears may be why!
Yup! And Fujibayashi directed SS, BOTW, and now TOTK. He’s carefully crafted a trilogy of Zelda games, so to speak. SS HD was an intentional. Nintendo wants it fresh in our minds before playing TOTK.
Great video, man! I'm not sold on the return of Demise, honestly. When Ganondorf awakened, he was stating that the viewer should witness the birth of a new king. Demise doesn't want to conquer, he wants to destroy. I also don't think Ganondorf can exist unless Demise is completely gone - consciousness and all. We've never seen multiple Ganondorfs at the same time, I believe the same can be said for Demise and Ganondorf as well. It also seems that Nintendo may have retconned Corpsedorf's headdress from that original teaser. There was some sort of change (I believe it's now a gray tear). I'm not sure which of the newer trailers it was shown on, but I saw a post about it today on the r/tearsofthekingdom subReddit lol. Cool video and cool theory, nonetheless, man! I always enjoy talking Zelda theories. It seems like it's always much more fun when a new game is around the corner, too!
Thank you! And excellent comment! Thanks for taking the time to make it. I actually read all of Demise’s Japanese text today and he talks about ruling the world in his own demonic image. Regardless, it’s a lot of fun to speculate as we all bide our time in anticipation for the new game 🤗
I think Ganondorf can absolutely Ganondorf can absolutely exist without demise. He may start out as possessed with the evil of demise but I think eventually he will return to his regular Gerudo form.
Hey! I dont know if this comment matches as evidence for this video. But if you remember the Tears of the Kingdom E3 2021 or Tears of the Kingdom Trailer 2. Both at the end of the theme, you can hear a reversed thing....or whatever it is. If you play it backwards, it repeats twice: He come back, She come back, He come back, She come back. However, now, with the recent trailer, I believe that this means about the come back of Demon King Demise and Goddess Hylia. I'm not sure if it's 100% the case, but it occurred to me after this video :).
I believe that Ganondorf is still Ganondorf however I feel like this game is showing us that Demise is rapidly taking over and coming back as the full entity that is demise. I feel that if there's a another game picking up after tears of the kingdom in some way or another game entirely... I believe believe every game is just another game that brings us closer to the eventual demises return.
Right on! I haven’t finished TOTK yet, but I have seen all of the dragon tears. Did you notice how Ganondorf turns the Time secret stone into the Hatred secret stone? He “conquered time” 😏 Also the horns are a dead giveaway of his influence to me. SS Mural depiction of Demise had 3 horns. Demise has a scar where it looks like one horn is missing. And then TOTK secret stone infused Ganondorf has 2 horns. It’s uncanny 😯
@@sionnachrealta5534 I can accept the premise that the stones are neutral because the kanji forms for the person who possesses the secret stone. But I think you’re unaware of the fact that Ganondorf killed Sonia and then the secret stone morphs into the kanji for rancor, what his essence is. It brings out one’s strongest essence. Also, that’s a representation of “conquering time”. Who’s the conqueror of time? Who’s the source of demons? You know the answer. Ganondorf has never been able to generate demons. Until this game, after killing the sage of time. Important details to consider.

Thank you. And completely agreed! I mean he could just be different because the E3 2019 trailer seemed like it was fairly developmental, but how does the Calamity Ganon final boss have a beard but not rehydrated Ganon?
Great theory! Personally, I believe that the bearded ganondorf is just mummy ganon in the past, because of the fact that, in the shot where he’s powering up, hebra mountain has no hole. The hole in hebra mountain in the present is said to be caused by the great calamity. This would also explain his beard and earrings. But maybe I’m wrong! Lmk what u think about this.

My belief they are lining up the connections between OOT and skyward sword, twilight princess (Sages, tears, temple of time) and possibly the sacred realm. Demises residual power was released in hyrule warriors practically at first. However non Canon as it may be, it proves a point Zelda will have her memories of her hylia form, she's also in the past due to recall after falling Link will have to gather the tears and powers to restore the master sword. Travelling between past and present. Ganondorf will most likely have the rest of his Demise abilities, residually transforming into Gademise (Ganon beast/Demise hybrid) and retain Demises memories Malice does break the master sword at first, that's why it's restoration is the important factor. Fi could also make a return. Tears of the kingdom is the end of the old cycle and the beginning of the new one.
@@wizcatcheslightning already edited. And the form i could see in the trailer is pretty much Beast/Pig Ganon & Demise. The master sword can destroy malice but no one theorised when it's overwhelmed with malice it can break. And whatever was in the master sword of Demise weakened Fi. I suppose the seal began to weaken when the master sword became rusted. In this instance it's demisedorf. Ganondorf is the hatred incarnate. Demise is the mind/soul with the remains of his body.
@@RebirthStar thanks for that! And yes to everything you’re saying here! With Fujibayashi being at the helm for Skyward Sword, BOTW, and TOTK, it’s hard to deny all of the clues that are being shown to Zelda players new and old. And I take great joy in trying to reveal all of the clues that I’m able to find to all of you 🤗
Ok, hear me out. So I 100% subscribe to the essence of demise being released upon the master sword being broken, it makes too much sense and almost every Zelda theorist ignores it. So what I want to add/point out is the artwork released of Ganondorf with the tear being “inactive” and “active” on his forehead. What if the tears hold the essence of the sages or divine beings, and with Demise’s being trapped in the master sword to decay, it never went into any such tear until the master sword was broken. None of the other tears seem to “power down” when not in use, and though Ganondorf is in a sweet pose in the art of the tear being active, I highly doubt he’s in combat or using the power. Also with Zelda’s tear having the recall symbol on it; if Zelda uses light magic, and light is time, would the essence/spirit of light being in the tear grant these powers? What about when Demise’s essence goes into the previously vacant tear Ganondorf has? Love the theories man, especially the most recent dragon/god clan one! Good shit!
Are we doing the multiverse premise? What if in the final battle you team up with all the other link incarnations? Can you imagine fighting alongside the Ocarina of Time Link or the Windwaker Link or the OG Link?
That would be siiiick. The one thing I really need to think about is why Ganondorf’s ears aren’t pointy like they are for the Ganondorf of WW or the Ganondorf of TP.
The chance of demise is very slim lore wisr he should've been long gone from. The master sword I'm afraid if he doesn't appear and it's just Ganondorf channeling malice into himself giving a slight appearance of demise do to Malice being demises hatred people are gonna flip and be angry. It's the same with everyone saying that mysterious women is zelda turned back into hylia there's a 50% chance it's not and is a zonai princess or someone who was decended from another God like figure or a zelda from a different universe.
@Wiz I think you are close and wish we had a means of talking away from comments because I have tons of information that I think will play a huge role on this, but I think you are on the right track here. Except that I don’t think it is purely just Demise’s conscious, as you stated he is a master of time, and a demon, an immortal being. While it was hinted that the sword needed to be watched over, his decay was only a thought and was never a sure thing, which is why it needed to be watched over so closely. Another thing a lot of people forget is Demise himself said in Skyward Sword that he will return eventually. This leaves me to further believe his mastery over time and I think we see the revival of Ganon because the way he was sealed was not in essence killing him, cheating the birth and rebirth cycle of this curse. I believe we will see both characters return, and I think it’s the return of demise that has broken barriers between the sky realm and hyrule that has brought about these mysterious characters in ToTK and the stronger Demise grows or the closer he gets to possessing and or taking form, I believe a lot of that has to do with why we start seeing pieces of the sky collapse. It’s also part of the reason I believe these tears will be necessary to re create the sages as they fight alongside link is resetting time back on its correct course (the whole purpose of the reverse ability) and in a sense resetting the cycle of the curse, or the breaking of old and the birth of a new. Who knows that. Lots we could talk and go over that kind of hint towards these theories that are just much too long for me to discuss here but the info does originate from several text points in breath of the wild as well as relevant story moments and key locations in other games. Add a contact email in your about and maybe we can discuss it further.
"You witness a King's revival." i wonder if he's talking about the Gerudo King/King of Thieves or The Demon King, could depend on whos consciousness is in control hmm..
Ooh, I think you nailed it. I'm convinced Gannon is some kind of anti-hero good guy in this one who is pissed at Demise. The idea that alternate timelines maybe result in some kind of split is awesome.
I feel like it's the essence of demise, his soul, if you will, going into Ganon, but as Ganon is Ganon, his form and power takes over and we end up with this ultimate being of power.
Very nice job wiz. I enjoyed your take on the possible identity of these characters and your video did show me something new. I had never seen those red eyes before. Plus imagine this, ganondorf isn't screaming with power, he is screaming of pain. "You witness a king's revival" not "You witness my revival" Thank for the hype and nice job.
I’m not sure I really see the horn you are trying to point out there. Clearly there is something on his head, but it could just be some sort of protruding head adornment like the tear shown on his forehead in a different scene. That one specific point seems like a reach to me. I think most other points are sound, but I don’t think they point to the actual physical Demise coming back necessarily. Could be some sort of thing like Ganondorf absorbing some of a weakened demise’s power from the broken master sword (since demise very well could be weakened significantly in there just as well as he might not be after thousands of years).
Look at the final trailer again, specifically at the end when the title flashes and it shows a mural. And look at what most people think is Ganondorf in the top right corner of the mural. There’s a horn protruding from his head. Now, you could be right, that might not be a horn of Demise. Now, look at a picture of Farosh and you’ll have what may be our only other possible conclusion: Dragondorf.
Yup 😎 The same reason Aonuma told people that he hoped they played Twilight Princess HD before the release of BOTW. There’s a lot of intent in the re-releases. Combine this with the fact that Fujibayashi’s first directed game was Skyward Sword and then went on to direct both BOTW and TOTK and we’ve got a lot of details to unravel that I can’t fit into this reply text 😎👉👉
The last part of the video could explain why we see Link with long flowing hair and his green garments and then his normal tied up hair from BOTW. Two Links maybe?

@@wizcatcheslightning Fair enough, I'm just saying back in 1986 he might as well be because they probably didn't plan the timeline out that far ahead or in the past. Demised didn't even exist until Skyward Sword development started. So basically the "official" explanation of where the demons come from was probably changed a lot over the years at Nintendo at first.
That’s a fair point. The Zelda series was one of the earliest progenitors of retcons in video games, and the fanbase inspired them to keep doing it with each iteration. It’s just the nature of the games’ lore in my opinion. Hence all the theory videos 😆
I’m in love with this theory, but my only gripe is… how would demise be in dehydrated Ganondorf if at the point that he is awakened the master sword hasn’t yet been destroyed?
Honestly seeing Ganondorf just be another vessel for Demise would feel extremely lame and forced, purely for how much better of a villain ‘Dorf is versus Demise. This is no knock on the vid or evidence btw, just a personal take.

@@wizcatcheslightning Sure that’s an alternate possibility, but I don’t think that’s what Nintendo are doing

Another absolute banger!! Defo gonna be multiple dimensions, timeframes, universes, or something along those lines in this game
If Zeldaverse comes true in this game, I’ll be beyond excited. There’s so many exciting ways to execute that concept!
This video was so well put together, I enjoyed every second of it.
I told you M5! 😆
Also, thank you. I wrote and produced it in under 24 hours
I’m so pumped for this game 😎
since demise was sealed inside the master sword it only makes sense that he emerges once the malice destroys the blade of evils bane
Assuming he’s not fully decayed, absolutely!
Isn’t there also two links? The one we recognize from BoTW and then the one with long hair and arm cannon?
It does appear to be that way 😎
I believe that Ganondorf is still Ganondorf however I feel like this game is showing us that Demise is rapidly taking over and coming back as the full entity that is demise.
He “conquered time” 😏
Also the horns are a dead giveaway of his influence to me.
@@sionnachrealta5534 I’m not saying that’s Demise. That’s clearly Ganondorf. I’m saying that’s Demise’s essence. Hence “Demisedorf” or the demon king, Ganondorf

I’m curious about your connecting his physical traits to the great calamity. How does that evidence lead to your conclusion? Happy to hear you out here. I’m just not making any connections.

My belief they are lining up the connections between OOT and skyward sword, twilight princess (Sages, tears, temple of time) and possibly the sacred realm.
Demises residual power was released in hyrule warriors practically at first. However non Canon as it may be, it proves a point
Zelda will have her memories of her hylia form, she's also in the past due to recall after falling
Link will have to gather the tears and powers to restore the master sword. Travelling between past and present.
Ganondorf will most likely have the rest of his Demise abilities, residually transforming into Gademise (Ganon beast/Demise hybrid) and retain Demises memories
Malice does break the master sword at first, that's why it's restoration is the important factor. Fi could also make a return.
Tears of the kingdom is the end of the old cycle and the beginning of the new one.
Excellent comment! Thank you for taking the time to write it.
And I take great joy in trying to reveal all of the clues that I’m able to find to all of you 🤗
Interesting how people never bring in age of calamity when comparing both and totk
It’s considered non canon. But there allegedly was AoC music in the final trailer as several others have pointed out.
Good shit!
Love this idea! And thanks for watching the videos. I put a lot of passion into these so that means more than you know 🥲

It sure is. Had I made the vid a day later, I would’ve seen the tweet telling me that it was black 😅
I’m thinking that’s a Zonai princess and not Hylia, for the record
You can find me on Twitter @WizCLightning or Reddit u/WizCatchesLightning …happy to discuss further 😎

Ooh, I think you nailed it. I'm convinced Gannon is some kind of anti-hero good guy in this one who is pissed at Demise. The idea that alternate timelines maybe result in some kind of split is awesome.
Thank you 😎
I feel like it's the essence of demise, his soul, if you will, going into Ganon, but as Ganon is Ganon, his form and power takes over and we end up with this ultimate being of power.
I’ll take it 😎
Very nice job wiz. I enjoyed your take on the possible identity of these characters and your video did show me something new. I had never seen those red eyes before. Thanks Dan! I appreciate the support! What did you mean by the screaming of pain? I just want to make sure I’m following correctly.
@@wizcatcheslightning When ganondorf's face is first revealed, he screams and it could be a scream of power or it could be a scream of pain.

This makes a lot of sense and even more sense if that the mystery women is actually just hylea however you spell her name the goddess
I don’t necessarily think that’s Hylia but I’ve got a video in the works that will hopefully address some of this so keep an eye out!
