Over 10 years have past, and he is still playing, well the best Sax I have ever heard. I just bought his box set and wonder why the entertainment industry doesn't take care of someone with such God given talent and put him on the global stage.
@@zilverheart if you mean the top 1% of today's A-Listers, that is a compliment to him. He far exceeds them as both an entertainer and person. I have had the opportunity to meet this young man since I wrote that comment, and this experience has made me a better person. While other entertainers are out there trying to dabble in politics, Julian is simply out there trying to make the world a better place for everyone around him.
He's above and beyond...truly doesn't need a global stage if he's appreciated as much as he has been. He's in a league of his own in my opinion. He's very successful and appreciated across the world. And a teacher. I think that says so much about this gem of a man...

I play the saxophone for almost all my life ever since I was in 5th grade and now I am 37 almost 38 and I am very proud to here that solo and now I am playing that solo to my wife thanks Julian keep up pushing foward and never give up your dream in what ever you may play for!!!!

Brilliant song choices. Pop classics from Broadway and West End shows of 60 yrs. ago! Their beauty is hauntingly familiar and he builds upon that,using his whole body, soul, and instrument, projecting it all to the audience. Listening to Julian and his sax is a complete experience.

Each performance gives more insight into this performers skills; there is no difference between the instrument and the performer = beauty at its' ultimate best.

Cliff Riley I'm afraid he's not the man you think , I'm Julian's 1st born child to which he hasn't seen in over 10 years , he mainly prioritises he's other two children , it is so sad to see so many comments regarding how he is a "family man" when he has made no effort with me since I was 8 , now 18 Ive been without a father so long it feels normal it just really shows you never truly no a person you just see in the media

As a saxophone player, he is amazing. I wish I could play like him. That would be my dream. Now my goal is to play a soprano solo at some point in my high school career. I love this... And now I have some one to look up to who adores and loves playing saxophone as much as I do!

I have read on here that several people are complaining that his pieces were not difficult enough. I just want everyone to know, I am a sax player myself, and it is not about the difficulty. It is about the style. my college professor told me. "the work on A piece of music is as follows. 10% note work......90% other" Other meaning: Style, breath work, balance, and tone. So I say he was spot on with his song selection!!
For the haters, the detractors, and the clueless: Playing a soprano saxophone with the level of control of tone this man has, coupled with impeccable intonation (and if you're even thinking the words "auto-tune", you are deep into the "clueless" category), and his control of phrasing and expression, is indeed extremely rare. Almost anybody can rake their fingers over the keys, playing a million notes per minute, and play with an abrasive sound that makes you wonder if the reed is made of metal
BrassTeacher as a novice Soprano player I can attest to the difficulty, but as a seasoned Alto and Tenor I cannot excuse his choice of music. Being able to play hot cross buns with pretty vibrato is great but it doesn’t constitute extraordinary talent. I’d like to see him play something with more movement to the melody rather than hoping his tone will carry him through. Have him play something like the third movement of the Heiden Sonata or even Flight of the Bumblebee. Playing Intervals at 70 bpm is just lazy
havenhay I don't think Julian Smith ever won Britans Got Talent , but the emotions that flowed over my wife and i and brought back 50+years of memorys together of our favorite song There's a place for us by P.J.Proby, But Julian had the edge
I think he was really relying on that final note a bit too much. He should have performed a different song instead of doing the one he did in the audition
You really under estimate his ability if you believe that. This is one performance, every performance he gives has something special in it. The thing that makes his talent so special is that he gives every performance the same energy and effort as he gave the first performance.

I used to play alto sax in 7th grade, i was the best in the class. But i hated band with a passion, the teacher was such a dick, and he jumped on everyone for the slightest error. I quit the sax and picked up the acoustic guitar. This man has just inspired me to go buy a sax, and pick up where i left off. I love guitar, but the sax will always be my FIRST love.
I never played the sax, but I did play the flute ... I have not touched the flute like ages, and when I once did after a while, I got dizzy ... you can see that I know what you mean :) ... for those people who were complaining that these pieces are not difficult, good luck getting dizzy like me ... and good luck getting every note so clear like julian smith's
No probs. If I had my way, all sub-standard versions of videos that also exist in high quality would be removed and the views shared out proportionally. There. Got it off my chest at last! ;)
Julian has "IT" in my humble opinion. In this case the "IT" is that way some artists, regardless of medium/instrument, are able to draw out the emotions of the rest of us.

Obviously not the hardest of pieces but he has immense control of the Soprano which is not easy. Very good playing.
