I'll be picking up Legions Imperialis. I'm pretty excited for Epic coming back, personally. I already have loyalist and traitor titans and knights from my Titanicus forces.
There’s a few in my community who have said they will get in to it but I’m not one of them. I loved 2nd Ed Epic and it is in my all time top 3 GW games but I have zero interest in this, even though it looks like it will be using a lot of 2nd Ed mechanics, because of the setting. If they had put it in 40K I would have mortgaged my dog to get it but the HH simply does not interest me in the slightest.
I was so disappointed with the Battleforces boxes. I wanted the Votann one but wasn't even aware they were up for sale. When I came to check all sold out. 😢 My gut feeling is Epic will fail cos it's not 40k setting but HH
Just so you know, preorders always go up at the same time every week, so you can be ready to go • 10am GMT for UK • 11am CEST for Europe and Rest of the World • 10am PST/1pm EST for US and Canada • 10am AWST for Australia • 10am NZDT for New Zealand
I was able to get 3 through my local shop. Marines and World Eaters for me, and Votann as a gift for my nephew. He started playing during 9th, he’s only 12 and Votann are his first army. He already has a huge force, and the box set literally gives him everything he needs to finish it, as the Terminators fill his list, and he gets a second sagitaur, and third Hekaton. I really like this year’s sets, it’s just too bad that they have under produced the sets again. That marine force is perfect to add to my Ultramarines, and World Eaters is my 2023 40k army (I build a new army every year, next year will be multiple armies with old world coming).
A couple of the AoS boxes are still available from places like Hobby Workshop, including the Ossiarch Bonereapers box, which is a bit of a surprise considering the value of the box and the savings included in that one... To Be Honest I have given up with 40K as they were never going to be easy to get and lasted even less time that expected... Ahh well, at least none of the 40k boxes were that 'Must have' this year.
Nope, we don't get LI, well if one lives in either Australia or New Zealand that is....We are the asterisk this time out. May be a week or three delayed for us... Could be even next year, who knows... Well GW does, but they ain't telling.
GW screwed up with the mistake of adding 4 Kratos tanks to the photo I was like oh my god I don't need to buy this additionally and then such a dissapointment
I should be getting the astra militarum christmas boxset, gotta get to know the people running your local game store if you want these things. I would never try and get them online with how things are right now.
They design boxes for new players or people wanting to start a new army then they don't make enough. I don't understand it. Looking forward to your Moonstone. I went in big time on the kickstarter. What a neat game.
See what they need to do next year for battleforces is make them all as bad as this years space marines box. Then there will be plenty for everyone! Cardhaus games still has 3x as many preorders left for SMs as compared to the next battleforce so clearly it will fix the issue.
I’m looking forward to it but I will say my excitement level would be a lot higher if was 40k. Just so much more potential with a 40k addition 🙁 Necrons, Tyranids etc
Managed to snag the Vengorian Courts box but everything else had vanished. I'm really interested in Epic Heresy but waiting to see what the take up for it is at my local club. I have The Barons War and Blood & Plunder on my table to start currently and im learning AoS and Shatterpoint so not short of a gaming project.
I’m not sure about that, hopefully someone here can help. I know there’s been quite a few unboxing/review videos made for it by different channels now.
I’ll be buying the core LI box so I can have little things to paint, I’m a bit worried GW will abandon the game though. Thankfully the limited time Titan and knight battle group boxes weren’t announced so I can spread my hobby budget better
I have mixed feelings on this release. I've wanted Epic 40K to come back and I guess this is a step in the right direction. My main concern is whether GW will support this as much as they should, both in terms of expansions and keeping product in stock. I've already got HH and more 40K than I know what to do with at this point lol. I love the idea of scaling down but I'd prefer 40K over 30K so I can have some massive Tyranid swarms.
I am really looking forward to this boxset, especially with all the dreadnoughts, and I was just wondering if you use these models with a normal horus heresy game
I think the pricing is an issue. Costs of the white dwarf lists was between 800 and 1000 dollars. While this is a battle game, the old 6 mm scale allowed for better space usage and more affordable. The 10 mm scale for AT allowed for lovely models but also way more expensive which is ok in a skirmish game. Are there really going to be enough people dropping that kind of money on likely their 3rd or 4th gw game. Also a huge step back in support. I have space marines, eldar, and squats I can play in epic armeggadon along with some titans.
Also I think it might not be a good game. It has thr turn structure like kill team 2018 where you while you have alternating activations those activations are broken into phases where you do all the movement, then 2 types of shooting, then combat in 4 different loops checking all the detachments on the board.
I’m afraid to invest in a non-main game from GW again because of lack of support. It happened with Aeronautica Imperialis & Necromunda being out of stock/no longer available for so long.
Hit the nail on the head for me with this video. Too many releases and not enough product to go around from GW these days. So why would I invest in a completely new game. Nope.
Yep, my son is really interested in this but I don't want to have to block out every Saturday morning at 10am just to ensure we can actually buy any additional units etc. Plus, it's going to be hard to buy boxes that only have a handful of tanks in or whatever, when the old Epic was such good value for money with those fantastic plastic sets
Agree with the baffling way GW handled the Battleboxes--clearly they support the FOMO sales tactic and know Warhammer is so popular they can put customer experience and griping aside as these things will just sellout regardless of how they handle things. Just punishing for fans but the fans keep buying so there's no incentive to change anything. Regarding Epic scale, GW apparently thinks its a niche line and isn't going to put 40K into it so idk.
Growing up with GW one of its main things it had over every other company, It was always in stock. For years. But also back then it had monthly release dates not weekly. Stock shortage seems to be getting worse than ever. Todays GW always seems to be racing for next weeks release. It should slow down for a few months after xmas to catch up with itself. Does GW have to many product lines to be able to keep in stock? Adeptus titanicus has been mostly out of stock for months. I cant suggest any GW games to new people without having to explain the only place to buy is 2nd hand.
Am I crazy for thinking they should already have Battle Reports up on youtube to push this game already? Videos explaining what some units do in a fight? Its a 2 week pre-order for a game nobody has seen in action yet. Thats just bad marketing. Like a film that bans reviews until release day. They just release two really good articles explaining what you can do with the Ash wastes terrain from Necromunda. But why did it take that long to show off something first seen in march 2022?
Because this is easier for them to produce and will likely be the way to gauge interest in a full epic range, it wasn't exactly popular when they made it before so no point investing massively in it until they know its gonna be profitable.
The 30k setting has a big argument for it: the difference between armies is a paintjob. Imagine a 40k version. With what factions? Space marines Guard Mechanicum (?) Chaos Eldar Orks Tyranids Necrons Tau With like 17 units per faction? Command squad Normal infantry Dakkaninfantry Choppainfantry Dreadknaught equivalent Knight equivalent Main battle tank Superheavy tank Transport Artillery Aircraft Bomber Flying transport Small titan Big titan All of that for a new gamemode? Thats too much. The risk is too high and the chance is that nobody buys this. I suspect that they start with horus heresy. We dont know what all the writers gonna do as a next projekt. Maybe the do "the scouring" the time after the heresy and the 200+ years of war to take back the imperium. And with that you could introduce armies like Orks or eldar as threats. And if you have that lineup going and it is well receive and has a place making the jump to 40k aint that hard. But starting with it outright would mean that too many factions had to be produced and this gamemode would rival normal 40k in complexity and model range which is again a bit too much for a specialist game.
Because Games Workshop is planning to kill Warhammer 40,000 for the sake of the Horse Heresy, very obviously. Why support 20+ unique factions when you can sell tons of Space Marines. Mk2, Mk3, Mk4 etc.
Not interested in the scale, but the rules look good. Just not hyped for anything from GW at this point, really. I assumed the Xmas boxes would sell out instantly, and all the good ones didn’t even last an hour. I just don’t even bother getting excited for these products. My FLGS can’t get anything like the quantity they need for local demand.
There are so many awesome games out there to choose from so I'm the same. Rather than hope I can get a Warhammer box I'd rather simply buy something else from a company that appreciates their followers more
I thought the battleforces were a weaker product this year? Them selling out seems like posturing almost by Warhammer lol. (Small numbers selling out immediately) 😆 Still may have a splurge on K.T. Salvation maybe?
Going with the Horus Heresy is a boring choice. I really hope someone makes xenos in a similar scale. I would call it a stupid choice for GW to do what they are doing but it's GW. The assholes of the war gaming world...bar none.
I'll be picking up Legions Imperialis. I'm pretty excited for Epic coming back, personally. I already have loyalist and traitor titans and knights from my Titanicus forces.
I am looking forward to all the Legions stuff. Then again, I am also a fan of Team Yankee.
I hope everyone that wants it can get it. I would like to play it but no one in my community is wanting to dive into it
Yeah I don't know of anyone who wants to give it a go either
There’s a few in my community who have said they will get in to it but I’m not one of them. If titanicus is anything to go by this will still be on the shelves for months.
I was so disappointed with the Battleforces boxes. I wanted the Votann one but wasn't even aware they were up for sale. When I came to check all sold out. 😢 My gut feeling is Epic will fail cos it's not 40k setting but HH
It would have been so cool as 40k, be interesting to see how it goes but I agree with you

In fairness the kratos were never in any of the original promo pics of the box contents back in July... I wasn't surprised to discover it was a cockup
maybe the delay was because the boxes had the wrong picture on them ;)
@@stoo2k
@@glennr2187 haha we can dream! I heard it was a printing error in some of the paper materials that actually caused the delay 🤷
I should be getting the astra militarum christmas boxset, gotta get to know the people running your local game store if you want these things. I would never try and get them online with how things are right now.
GW have confirmed that the Kratos Tanks are not included in the set.
Nice one, I've updated that in the recent prices video, thank you 👊
I like textured bases. Simple and elegant. I could buy it for normal Warhammer models if it wasn't too expensive.
They design boxes for new players or people wanting to start a new army then they don't make enough. I don't understand it. Looking forward to your Moonstone. I went in big time on the kickstarter. What a neat game.
GW should move to a no advertising model.
They should just go back to monthly release dates. They cant keep up with weekly releases and maintaining stock.
See what they need to do next year for battleforces is make them all as bad as this years space marines box. Then there will be plenty for everyone! Cardhaus games still has 3x as many preorders left for SMs as compared to the next battleforce so clearly it will fix the issue.

Nice one, glad you got a box set
That picture of the LI box is wrong. You do not get the Kratos in the box - GW has confirmed this.
Thanks for pointing that out, I've included the update in the recent prices video. Looks like Warhammer Community post has been changed too.
Is it going to be snip kits or do we need to glue them like the older kits?
I’m not sure about that, hopefully someone here can help. I know there’s been quite a few unboxing/review videos made for it by different channels now.
Ill grab some ruins for adeptus titanicus, but not epic itself. Glad the titans and planes are back though.
Thats my plan as well. Epic will be to high a price point for anyone to want to invest in.
I’ll be buying the core LI box so I can have little things to paint, I’m a bit worried GW will abandon the game though. Thankfully the limited time Titan and knight battle group boxes weren’t announced so I can spread my hobby budget better
Hey i didin't know James Workshop was trying do a Battletech Alphastrike game?!
🤣
2 week order so loads of them like most of the big game releases, this is not an xmas box set minimal run type thing

I'm not sure if the Horus Heresy rules would convert well to this scale, especially melee.
Unfortunately we are still waiting in Oz maybe they need see the wizard to get it to us.
🤣
I wasn’t disappointed with the battle boxes because I just said, nah, it’s over a ton and it’s not worth the hassle.
You get to a point with GW where you just can't be arsed to give a crap.
Exactly
