I just realized a use case for these that is untapped and would sweep the market by storm. I'd even buy them and I hate Zuckerberg with a passion. Lightweight AR glasses like these could automatically adjust to act like prescription lenses. The cool thing is that you'd never have to wear those thick, heavy, coke bottle glasses again. So much of the metaverse is solutions looking for a problem. I could use a heads-up display during some of the industrial processes I do as a machinist, but as far as regular daily life I’m having trouble imagining a practical application that’s game changing beyond the "neat" factor. My phone is already jammed with stuff I don’t use. Feels like 3D television all over again.
Maps and turn by turn directions as you're walking around without having to pull out a phone is great, but the opportunity to fill your visual field with targeted ads is dystopian SF movie nightmare. Looking at something to remember it or get more information about it is also great, though Meta will know even more about what you stare at. Judi Dench has the best smoothie recipes 🎉 Zuck's hair is looking soooo krea. I bet he started growing it out the moment he did that public apology in Congress.
That’s just a glimpse of immense potential and possibilities. Imagine live translation of foreign languages spoken and written shown on your glasses, the blind and the elderly can have a new set of smart eyes, quick check of notification and calls without needing a phone, 3D models of machines and physics experiments etc. floating right in front of learners etc. The phone might just become a processing unit or accessory to the smart glasses or remain an alternative to those who don’t want glasses. In sunny ☀️ weather people wear sunglasses anyway, some people will want an additional functionality in their sunglasses 😎.
My friend got a new phone and ear buds and was bragging about the language translation capabilities. We work at an auto parts store and often have Spanish speakers and he thought it would be helpful. It played his spoken English through the main phone speakers in Spanish and the times he’s tried to use it have been met with the customers bursting into uncontrollable laughter. We used another program on my phone to translate what it was saying and it was as nonsensical as if we had chosen random words.
Even Realities G1 glasses are the only ones that actually look like glasses. They're just a green text display, like monitors way back in the day. The future will be here soon!!! (Where's my flying car and robot butler though?)
There was a commercial for the updated Siri that was that (exact thing* that you described about someone's name. A woman saw a guy she recognized, and asked Siri who the man she had some meeting with was, and it told her so she could pretend like she remembered his name. No one will know if anyone's full of shit in the future thanks to AI.

@@skierpage I rewatched HER when the new voice features started rolling out and it was pretty wild. I feel like the porn / relationship aspect of AI is never discussed. Like it isn’t going to be an issue.
@@rexmundi8154 bad actors will build celebrity lookalike-soundalikes that are willing to "go all the way," but they spout Chinese or Russian disinformation on politics and encourage you to become a conspiracy nut to destabilize Western democracies while you lose your money in crypto scams.
Have you been stumped for years about which ingredients to put into a smoothie? Well strap on a headset, Meta's got you. Finally, the answers we've all been waiting for.
Our creativity stops in making a smoothie due to AI.
Judi Dench has the best smoothie recipes 🎉 Zuck's hair is looking soooo krea. I bet he started growing it out the moment he did that public apology in Congress.
Think if Apollo 13 crew had these while figuring "How the heck we get back from here alive with this junk we have?"
I love the bigger virtual screens of my XReal Air glasses. Less strain on the eyes when watching videos or surfing the web.
"Hey Meta, I'd like to not think about my surroundings ever - and please feed me dopamine hits every 20 seconds when I don't have to move".
13:53 The translation to Spanish was pretty bad
It was equivalent to something like:
"Making good. The knee is. The knee is making good and to feel strong."
@@MrMiguelChaves good knee, good
Yeah, that part was pretty hilarious XD
I can see it being somewhat useful, but yeah, it was really bad.
Very nice!
You could have put the glasses on a sheet of paper so the camera wouldn't focus further away
