Confirmed this worked on a 2000 Xterra automatic 4x4 3.3L but without the absolute topmost bolt shown in the video. I highly recommend puting piece of electrical tape over the sharp AF exhaust shroud (youll find it. Itll be the one slicing you up) and the 2 exhaust shroud bolts (overly long and also sharp af) that are there in the way or be prepared to carve up your hand. You can reach up in there and bend down the wire retention tabs. I removed the gold shifter lever and three 8mm bolts on the switch. Not the 4th this guy shows way up top. Not needed and to deep anyway. Leave that topmost one that isnt holding the switch, and just bend that tab out of the way instead. You can then mess with the shift position with a wrench (please emergency brake and chocks so you don't be crished when shift it to neutral) and tetris that switch free of the pin as shown. Under the hood you can disconnect all the 4 or 5 wire connectors in the left side near the battery that these wires go to, also pop out the loom retention clip between engine and firewall and start taking the tape and split loom apart so the lump will be easier to pull down. Then pull the entire mess down below. Once down below pull all the rest of the split loom apart and rebuild it on the new switch. I got new loom online and used 3m super33 tape (all lesser tapes suck). I pushed a fish wire from hood back down between the engins and firewall on top of bell housing. Went down and pulled fish through with a hook. I taped the new mess of connectors to the fish and a helper pulled the whole mess of connectors back up between the engine and firewall. Finally, back downstairs, tetris that new switch back in place. It sucked a little, but not too bad. Took about 2 hours and cut me up a little. Later i reslized the tape trick would've saved all the little cuts all over my hand. Nope, no room for gloves unless you have a baby's hand. I should've paid a 5yo a lolly to do that part but, you know, a 40ish man trying to hire a baby just wouldnt look right. So use tape is next best pluss what baby can follow technical instructions?
The Module is the neutral safety switch. I believe it doesn’t unplug. The cable runs to the back of the transmission and is unplugged/plugged there. I just found this information
I was hoping to learn what size wrenches to take under the truck with me. It is 8mm. And the transmission still has to be dropped to disconnect the old switch or connect the new switch because the connectors are on top of the transmission.
Great!!!!! I almost took it to a shop. Thank you.
1000% helps!

How do you test it ?
does the neutral safety switch unplug from that module you removed??
Not sure what module you mean?

What happens if the shaft slides out like mine did
Probably nothing good... never had to cross that bridge
