I already have!
In the world of glorified “RUclips celebrity” watch dealers, watching your videos is just refreshing. No bs talk about market prices and hype, just pure enthusiasm. Thanks!
Appreciate that man, I'm just out here speaking my mind 🤣
Great video. As a diver, I feel that Tudor has got everything right with this watch. I was a little sceptical at first but with more thought I love it. The depth rating is perfect and inline with my dive computers, the size is perfect if wearing it over a wetsuit or drysuit cuff. The blue dial adds the contrast as it’s the last colour to go at depth and the watch is easy to read in low light conditions. I know this as I dive with a regular Pelagos. I love the fixed bars too, your watch is safe and secure on a NATO strap.
As a tool for divers, this scores a 10/10 from me 👌
Wow and actually diver has spoken. Cheers Mark, you can drop the mic and walk away 👌
I didn't understand why I liked the FXD so much more than the BB58 until you explained that thing about shapes. Hard angles vs round or soft. You taught me some thing there. I also prefer thinner case, no date but - the shape thing. Thanks - great video for a great watch.
Just got my pelagos FXD two days ago and I can't take it off. Such a good watch!
Tactical frog FX. The poor man's homage of the poor man's Rolex. And i love it!
My favourite CHANNEL!
Happy New Year Brit! You've worked so hard this year, congrats and enjoy your time off 😊👍
Max, another fantastic review with great information and top notch video. I was looking at a GS GMT as my next purchase but being retired Navy this watch just jumped up on the list! Thanks
Dude the MN is a real quality piece in the metal! You won't be disappointed 👍
A bit late to the party but your video really caught my attention in a few regards. I am a former Green Beret with a combat dive certification that went into the Army with my 16800 Submariner that is now celebrating 40 years together. As I get the Rolex view of classic evolution as opposed to the trendy revolution approach to design. Although a dedicated Rolex collector, I do admire many other brands & been looking for something a bit different. As just about every professional Rolex has the typical round plots & oyster bracelets I feel as if I'm basically wearing the same watch so the FXD is a breath of fresh air. If you were knit picking, I think grade 5 titanium would be nice & of coarse the on going obsession Rolex & Tudor has with the never ending text on their dials that they know most people would prefer less of but it isn't enough to stop me from buying one. I love the pureness, symmetry & NO round plots, Tudor can be very proud of this one. And just a short word to put things in perspective, I know it's cool to go on about dive watches that are rated to absurd depths but we were rated to 100 ft with us typically operating at 30 ft, the fun kinda of ends when you start going really deep.
This is now my second favourite watch, after, I am embarrassed to say, my P42! I think it looks modern, and I love the qualities of the titanium. I wonder why watches have ever been made of steel. Thanks for all your content. Very much appreciated.
Nice video! I’m not a huge fan of this watch nor Tudor in general, but I appreciate you presenting it to us so thoroughly and with additional personal opinions!
Thanks for the feedback, curious why you don't like Tudor?
I was seriously expecting you to say "I'm DIVING IN" @ 0:04! Have a good holiday!
Haha, thought about it 🐟
Your explanation from the 6 min 20 sec mark was articulate and bang on. You have also made a fantastic video. Great job, I'm now a subscriber.
Thank you! Good to hear from like minded folks 😁👍
Bouba-kiki...pancake-dinner plate...and now the FXD...so much to think about! It's only fair that you discuss how shapes make you feel. Excellent review!!
Thanks Milan! Don't sit on kiki 😉
Great vid. 👏
Got my MN21 two weeks ago and it's awesome.
Fully agree about the square indices fit so much better than the round ones.
you posted this at 4:20 AM, that’s some dedication max
I dream of watches Brian 😉
I own this Tudor Pelagos FXD and find it to be a superb watch.
I absolutely love it. Simplicity with the no day/date and no spring bars.
I love that it's not a Rolex with the hype, inflated prices and show off image.
Exactly, it's what Rolex used to be decades ago 🤔
I really like what you are doing here Max! Glad your channel was suggested. The FXD really poses a problem for me. At the price point and features it is really hard to resist!
Thanks Mike! I can report it's a darling in person 👍
Bought mine at retail yesterday, already trading 2-3k above retail. Your review was well done.
The BB58 was the same on release . Now they are widely available and eBay is stocked full of them for well below RRP.
@@stevehs4287 That’s good to know, I can wait until the FXD hype is down. Managed the 58 a day after requesting it, that was last summer.
A very interesting time piece....
Not having to "fix" something that's not broken makes all the sense to me, and one less thing to worry about!!! Merry Christmas Max, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Merry Xmas! Let the snowflakes fall ❄️
@@WatchCrunchOfficial lol. Yes and melt away!
It's another great release from Tudor, I love the painted hands and indices. It will never replace my BB58 as the the size is just perfect and the comfort of the bracelet is just unbeatable at present. However, if it was the same dimensions as the 58, it would certainly be an addition to my collection :)
Ditto! The perfect diver/navigation watch.
The FXD is next on my list.
I love the FXD. I tried one on, and it fit perfect for me.
I also liked and subscribed.
I feel like as Rolex has continued to move up market in terms of luxury, Tudor has filled the space where the old vintage dive watches would have ended up if modern dive computers were never invented. I can't wait to get myself an FXD - either the blue or the new black version. Both are killer.
Wow. Your video quality is just amazing!
Thanks Brian!
It's a beast, this is what a tool watch actually is. The dial is simple and highly legible, thankfully they removed that hideous 3D chapter ring, it's got fixed bars, a multi directional bezel, WR that isn't ridiculous, yet still out of reach for 90% of the people who will wear it, it has provenance and an industrial purpose. The only mistake made in this release was the accompaniment of a black version. Of course, all of this is subjective, and that's my personal opinion as a lover, collector and owner of dive/tool watches.
Good point! A black version would've been cool. Or maybe allowing you to mix and match black/blue dial/bezel combos? 🤔
The dial is not simple, too busy.
Cesar Torres The dial too busy? Or you are kidding or you need glasses.
@@nachovalenti Yes, 4 lines plus the brand and “Geneve” what were they thinking? Add the instructions and full specs???😆🤦🏻. Someone else here needs those glasses
@@cesart7354 *For you.
Its a fabulous watch don’t be put off by the 52mm its a very misleading it wears like a Sub, it’s incredibly legible and very comfortable….
Love the Bouba-Kiki talk. Cool.
Haha, you can tell I've been obsessing for a while 🤣
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Which is why we subscribe ;)
Great piece by Tudor 👏👏👏
I'm totally on board with you regarding the design clash of the Black Bay's snowflake hands & round hour markers. Which is the main reason I prefer the Pelogos over the BB.
Yes, and the new FXD is my fav 🤩
@@WatchCrunchOfficial I really need to try the FXD on as that 52 lug to lug scares me a bit. But for the activities I do I would appreciate the fixed lugs. I give Tudor credit for taking a chance with this FXD model as it has a limited market... which I like. :)
Kiki bouba bb58! Love it. Great video and I actually really like this watch. Would love to try it out one day.
I'm going off the deep end with these metaphors dude 🤣
Great review! I like your fresh take on this one
love my san martin pelagos!
beautiful watch. local reseller has a MN21 for $5.900. thought long and hard about it and came to the painful decision that i am going to hold off and stick with my 126610ln i got from my AD a few weeks ago. if i didn't have a sub i'd definitely pick up the fxd.
Great vid Max and overall spot on assessment of the new watch.
Thanks! Appreciate that 👍
The Pelagos is amazing, but the BB58 is also. 😊
Really appreciate the time you put into production values. I've owned fixed lug watches, and IMO you'll need to get comfy with textile straps, preferably one-pass, because the inability of the strap to pivot on a spring bar means any other strap (leather, e.g.) will make the watch sit too proud.
Oh interesting, I was thinking a leather nato would be cool, but maybe to the contrary 🤔
Thank you! I like your videos.
Thanks Han, appreciate it 🙏😁
very interesting your comment on shape!!??never really notice on the black bay but now it is all I see
Great review as always.
The new Pelagos is probably not for me.
I loved Kiki Bubas duet with Elton John.
100% agree with the snowflake hand not going with the BB’s as well as the square markers on the Pelagos
It’s a cool piece. Not for me, but I do like all the thought that went into it.
Thanks! Appreciate it 😁👍
Damn I was on the fence about this watch, but now I think I'm sold!
Michael! Yes this this is so sweet. Hard to think of a more well made watch with fascinating history at this price 👌
Just got a MN23 think it’s awesome 😎
Great review!!
Up to the point and 100% useful
Thanks Angelo!
Great watch, and awesome video (as usual). Keep up the good work!
Cheers Chris, merry Xmas 👍
With regards to the Velcro strap flaring out, I put a rubber keeper on mine to stop it sticking out and catching on my clothing, cheap fix 👍
Where did you order the keeper from?
@@bobj8877 Hi, just looked on eBay for a22mm navy keeper, wasn’t expensive, cheap actually.
Great review, I love the FXD watch but I think the bezel might be too busy for me. I would love to see a comparison of the three Pelagos models as I just cannot choose between them. I am currently leaning towards the LHD.
I love the bidirectional bezel and the countdown insert. Much more practical for me since I can't even remember the last time I went swimming, let alone diving!
The click is very satisfying 👍
@@WatchCrunchOfficial The people in our lives think we are nuts, "Listen to that click! I sounds so nice! A little spike of dopamine!"
"There he goes again..."
@@horologistmorrow6080 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Love my Tudor FXD - you’re absolutely right, if people missed the bracelet and HEV, there’s always the regular Pelagos.
I sold my Pelagos LHD in the summer and thought about adding the BB58 blue. Out of the blue my AD was able to offer an allocation for the Rolex 124060, so that cancelled the BB58.
Then my AD called a few weeks later and offered the FXD - well I went to try it on and IMO, it’s an even better watch than my old LHD. Loved the fixed bar and even though it’s limited to Nato straps that’s fine.
When I need to wear a watch with bracelet, l always have the no date Submariner 😎
Damn dude, it's really Christmas for you 👏👏🎄
I wouldn't. They could do screw lugs as a compromise for the consumer market.... I like the square indices... Also, I'd wait for a 40mm-ish smaller size.... Like what the 58 did for the regular BB.... This isn't an ideal snowflake dial for the consumer market. There's a lot of business to be had with the right spec'ed variation....
Very enlightened and reasoned review. I agree with your views on this watch. (Also a grail for me).
Thanks Michael! It's a great piece 👍
I tried one of these on today and loved it on my 7 1/4 wrist.. my question to you is could this cohabit with the bb58 blue that I already own?
I love this watch
Max great video. Merry Christmas.
Merry xmas Barry 🎄
As a blue Pelagos owner this "lesser" version didn't really have any appeal.... but it's starting to grow on me. Every watch I own has a bracelet, this may be my first strap watch. And Tudor takes chances on a regular basis : Northflag (I miss it), LHD Pelagos....and on. Great video.
Yes, love what tudor is doing. You might be pleasantly surprised with this one 👍
Beatiful watch!!
Is it kind of special edition and they would remove the MN collaboration engraving on the back case later at a point of time ?!
I prefer the BB58. And I own one.
Meh… uninspired missed opportunity. Love your reviews and channel. Happy holidays!
You too Michael 👍
Great video Max!
Cheers dude 😎👍
Just curious, given the tool nature of the FXD, what purpose does the dial and bezel being blue serve?
A nice enough watch with a better blue tone than the Pelagos blue but not a patch on the blue 58. Not as versatile and lack of a bracelet are a miss for me. Clearly all just my opinion.
Nice watch, but you cannot compare these two. The size, dial and general appearance are so different.
For my smaller wrist the BB58 is just perfect. But again both are great watches
They need to make it in black, bigger and thicker
I for one do not commend Tudor for the fixed strap. This. This is the watch I want on a bracelet. Love everything about it. It's the right size, reverse bezel for countdown, looks utilitarian, but I cant put a bracelet on it so i wont get it. The "normal Pelagos", is bigger, and not the same in any way except the name.
Did I hear you say that retail w/ $3900 ?? At that price point this is a no-brainer, but for what I see them selling for in the secondary market of $6K-$8K it's touching Rolex territory. Although that territory keeps getting crazily higher and higher.
Yeah dude, I'm waiting for the supply to catch up so people will stop scalping
@@WatchCrunchOfficial I'm with you. NO way I'm paying double retail for a "as-new" Tudor.
Comparing the FXD to the BB58 is less than ideal. The BB58 is loved for the insane value proposition, vintage styling, and sub 40mm case. The FXD is none of that.
Their retail price are almost the same
@@WatchCrunchOfficial They're also priced similarly to some designer handbags but that is also a bad comparison. They're too different.
Agree I'm torn between them for my next watch. Would love to see a titanium BB58 then it would be game over.
happy i found this channel! i just binged all your vid's, great stuff buddy! keep it up!
I'm not a fan of blue dial's, do you think they'll release a black Pelagos FXD?
Already have!
If they made one with bracelet, regular spring bars, less busy bezel, and maybe a date, it would conquer the market.
So ... the Submariner? 🤔
they do, it's the regular pelagos. it comes in balack and blue dial!!
Oh snap ❄️ 🥶
Chilly in here 😉
meanwhile rolex becomes a safequeen watch
F A N T A S T I C ! ! !
I really dont think you can compare this watch to the BB58. The FXD is large, bead blasted modern tool watch with zero polished surfaces, whereas the BB58 is a small, vintage homage made of polished stainless steel.
I think you just compared this watch to the BB58.
@@kombo731 haha....
Click bait title.
inspiration drives innovation. cheers #tudor
Well said 👍
Yeah...it's sweet!
Enjoy the holidays🎅🏼
Merry Xmas buddy 🎄
It's a highly attractive proposition for those of us interested in minimum frills mechanical tool watches and with mil spec pedigree (see also the unobtanium CWC RN diver reissue). I worry about the longevity of the velcro strap though, I've had velcro straps that looked great and worked great for as long as a week and then started catching on stuff and became a pain in the ass to live with and then impossible; some kind of NATO/Deployant clasp hybrid would be great imho.
Yes the exposed black Velcro catches dust bunnies and isn't great. Wonder how it works look with a leather nato 🤔
How did you find one? I’ve been looking all over the place to get one
My buddy who "has a relationship" got it and lent it to me 😊. The AD got 1 for the year 🤦♂️
Dude, shapes definitely can make feels .... watchdials not the first organism that comes to mind though...😅
Glad you empathize 😁
They screwed up the lugs, size and the dial is too busy. If they can make the Pelagos with the BB58 dimensions then you got a winner.
Yes we can all dream 🤔😁
One of the best reasons is a bigger wrist.
Yeah definitely a struggle but my wrist is on the small side too. 😅
Do you think it would fit a 6.25 inch wrist?
That's pushing it. All depends on how much lug overhang you can handle
Just note that it's only a narrative, the caseback engraving is cool, but you're not buying a watch that was actually issued to the MN :)
We are all buying expensive narratives 😆🤷♂️
Hi could you recommend a good make of NATO strap to go with this watch. I am based in the UK but happy to purchase from abroad if it’s top quality.
Could I just confirm the strap width would be 22mm.
I am not bothered about the cost of the NATO strap (I must be a salesman’s dream), “quality is remembered far after the cost is forgotten”.
Reason for asking - I have one of these waiting at home as my Xmas present (lucky me!!), I want to be able to change the strap from time to time to just change out the look.
Any help and advice would greatly appreciated.
If you are based in the UK, I've had good impression of Adrian's NATOs at bark and Jack. I think a brown leather nato would be killer!
I can highly recommend Bark & Jack. Adrian’s NATO straps are brilliant. I have the grey NATO 2 on my Seamaster.
BB58 closer to the design of the snowflake.
I really like this, but I always buy watches with metal bracelet.
Yeah that's the big drawback!
It's what Rolex was in the 50's and 60's.
Great point! Rolex up until the early 2000s were still very tooly, now it's just bling blam
I will wait for them to give it normal springbars and a bracelet and then buy it. Then i can put on a strap if i want to, but wont be forced to.
No bracelet, 51mm l2l. Pass
I have another question if that’s ok. I have never used a single band style NATO strap. When using a single band does a watch slide and up and down the strap as your wearing the watch.
I ask because I try not to wear a watch tight but would not want a watch moving about on the strap.
Once again, any info would greatly appreciated.
No the strap is pretty well pinned by the angle it goes through the hole, watch head shouldn't move on the wrist 👍
No, the main strap goes through the two pins and the watch is locked in position by a second loop that goes from one side of the watch to the other.
@@MarkN67 - Single pass does not have that extra piece that a traditional NATO strap has.
@@yaabaa that’s not a NATO strap, it’s a single pass.
@@MarkN67 - Precisely
I would buy it if it came with a metal bracelet.
That would be dope but doubt it's gonna happen 😬
I’d love an FXD that wasn’t so heavily associated with the Marine Nationale.
"why you should buy" videos are pushy. Just say why you like/bought the watch.
Do you live in Seattle?!?!
Yes sir!
