I didn’t grow up with the anime so I don’t have a horse in this race, but hearing everyone talk about how much Ash and his journey meant to them is super inspiring ❤
I got into Pokémon when my siblings and I began tuning into it on a remote tv channel (not the WB channel) in my days of elementary school. When it came to the games, I’d watch my older brother play Blue version and much later begin my Pokémon gaming experience with OG Sapphire. I fell way behind on the franchise because of the whole “Pokémon are ‘demonic’” thing. Inevitably, being the rebellious person I was, I secretly tried to keep up with the times of Pokémon. Years later, the Pokémon ban was ultimately lifted in my family and I continued on as a free Pokémon fan. Watching the anime had its ups and downs for me from time to time, mostly with the BW series for various reasons. The biggest highlight of the anime was the Kalos saga. It did have its flaws but very little imo. It is by far the strongest series in the anime timeline. The Sun and Moon series was very rocky for me. The change in art style, some of the characters, and so on. The second season however really brought me back firmly in my seat because of the focus of Lillie and her family. I had a few gripes about the third season but for the most part, I liked it. Journeys felt…mostly off-putting to me because a lot of the episodes felt too much like filler and not the good kind. It was hard to sit through the nonsense of Journeys that I intentionally skipped the lot of those episodes and focused on the main and more interesting plots, which took a major load off me. Also, I found myself drawn to watch the episodes in subtitles after hearing social media buzz about the latest episodes (the tournament finals). Those battles were amazing and how Ash became the champion was mind blowing! Not the biggest fan of Journeys tbh, it did have its moments, but it’s not very good imo. The road of watching the story of Ash up the end as been great. With the newest part of the anime coming up, I’m curious as to how the creators will handle everything without their beloved, longtime main character. Only time will tell and I hope that it will succeed after the torch it passed to another main character. Edit: Man, that was a lot to write down!😅
i did grow up with the anime since the beginning (though i liked Digimon more) kinda stopped watching around Hoenn & Sinnoh watching again with Unova (cause White was also the first main series title i played) but i skipped everything afterward, until a few years ago, when i decided to watch Kalos, Alola & Journeys online (in fact my favorite Ash moment, is his z-move battle against Tapu Koko) and now i watch every episode when they air in Japan and after watching the first few episodes of Horizons and from what i have seen, it is a strong start, and Liko is quite the opposite from Ash, wich makes it truelly facinating to follow (also Ash's Pikachu might be gone, but the new show did not ditch the mascot of the franchise)
Sorry for the sounds from my squeaky chairs and my Accent XD, But thanks for giving me a chance to remember an old show i really loved (and giving me a good cry, i will send you my therapist bill)
Hey no worries. What matters are your thoughts on the subject and you gave some great ones! I know I told you already, but thanks for participating in this
