We stay in condos freq. We strip the beds,empty the trash , nothing to be left in fridg., also start the dishwasher. These are common requests. I think it helps keep the flow for next guests.
Don’t worry about what others say about your bathroom floors being different , I think they look great! We have different floors throughout our home. You do what you like! 🥰 love your channel and all your projects!

FYI: Indiana and Ohio are under similar legislation regarding passing on a double yellow because of all the farming equipment, horse and buggies, and golf carts permitted on the roads with the slow moving vehicle markers. Mrs. Mary seemed to have a hard time explaining exactly why she knew she was allowed to pass, but the following puts the actual laws into a cliffnote version:
"Motorists should only pass on a double yellow line when:
- The slower vehicle is proceeding at less than half the speed of the speed limit applicable to that location.
- The faster vehicle is capable of overtaking and passing the slower vehicle without exceeding the speed limit."
With that being said, ma'am, please make sure you stay under the posted speed limit to pass, and it is done so safely. (Which, from the video, was done without question.)

I have my bed in front of my windows and I wouldn’t want it anywhere else! I love feeling the breeze through windows as well as seeing the moon shine beautifully at night. It is calming and peaceful. Also, whoever said you don’t put beds in front of windows? That’s just ridiculous. You do you and enjoy what makers you happy. You have a lovely home. Ignore those comments.

Remind me when I was a refugee in Germany. Commune laundry. One week we had pink shades the other week we had light blue. You never know what the people washed before you😊 not ideal but fun to find "new" outfit weekly.

Obviously the person that talked about having to start a load of towels has never stayed at an Airbnb. Every Airbnb that I have stayed at has the same request. I never considered it a hassle. Regarding the installation of a pool, I wouldn’t even consider it. Pools are a real hassle to maintain and expensive. You would either need to be there every day for maintenance or hire it out.
I always enjoy your Q & A videos and the variety of questions. I do admire your talents and energy to get things done. Just thought I would respond to the statement about having your quests do the towels before leaving. We have stayed at several AirBNBs and have been asked to do the same. A couple have asked us to strip the beds. I honestly don't mind and never gave it a second thought. Honestly, there have been times we have striped our beds when staying in a hotel. Some may think it's strange, but to each their own. Thank you Mary for all your videos, helpful ideas and recipes too!

We rent a house and always put a load of towels in before we leave. We aren't required, but the cleaning crew appreciates it.

I used to be a bedroom where my bed came just under the sill. BEST THING EVER 🎉 Sometimes in the winter I would wake up in the morning with snow 🌨️ on my head 💯% loved it!!! How awesome of your boys to volunteer q&a💙 What's it like having grown up with such a creative Mom?
I agree. Love our bed under the sill. The windows slide so we can let in a breeze at night!
I stayed at a place in Hawaii on Kauai, they asked us to wash our towels and our bedding prior to leaving. We did it. No problem. Didn't think that it was tacky or too much to ask. Washed, then in and out of the dryer and folded it. Left all of it folded on the bed so they could see that it was washed. We also emptied the fridge and took out the trash. Our cleaning fee afterward was only $35.00, otherwise, it would have been a lot more! That was in 2008 or so.

Mary, better late than never. Great Q&A. I like everything you do. The floors being a different color is fine. The bathroom is a separate room, so it works fine. It also saved you money. In regards to gloves. I think your fine, as long as your guests are clean. However, cleaning showers, it may be good to wear flip-flops. Foot nail fungal infections are easy to pick up and difficult to treat. I look forward to the boys Q&A.❤

To get the musty smell out of old furniture, try spraying Vodka on it. Don’t spray on a wood finish that you want to protect. I use it on the unfinished inside surfaces of old dressers and it works remarkably well to get rid of that unwanted smell.
Such a nice surprise to have a video on a Saturday. I’ve never been asked to start a load of laundry but I also often bring my own linens so just bring mine home or do laundry during my stay so I bring clean back home, saves on doing tons later.

I live in central PA Amish country & I agree, if you waited behind a buggy (tractor, bicycles)no one would ever get anywhere!! The double yellow line rule doesn’t apply in these circumstances, never have I ever seen anyone pulled over for that 👍🏼
I disagree. Amish have come into our area. They are irritating slow. But you will get a ticket and it is a way to know it is absolutely not a safe place to pass. You would be risking your own safety to do that

I was always told not to put the bed or a big piece of furniture in front of the window because it could block an easy escape route in the case of a house fire.

I have learned over the years that you will run into "negative" people. A lot of those "negative" people are envious or miserable, sometimes both, in their own lives. I don't judge them (not my place or personality), I just simply keep moving. Life is too short to get worked up over negativity. It's sad that there is so much nowadays. Hi, Mary! Put a color catcher in your wash with the lemon t-shirt. I think Shout makes it. It should work. It worjed for me when I turned acwhole load pink. But usually you should put it in when you wash different colors together.

Mary you are so sweet in answering all the questions. I owned a cleaning company (we did fire restoration) cleaned fire damage plus the interior home. Rebuild what was damaged, bagged all the clothing bedding anything cloth that could be cleaned out to be cleaned. And we never used cleaning gloves to protect us. We had them yet we never liked them. I don't think it's a problem for the quest to put the towels in the washer that are right there in the cottage. Your cottages are beautiful as someday my daughters say we are going to come spend time there. I hope so it would be so nice. I like living in the country as I am more comfortable in my own space. My grandmother always used a glass bowl filled with ammonia to remove stubborn smells.

For the answer to Sunflower, Dixie Bell paint makes BOSS, blocks odor stops stains. I used it in an antique buffet that I purchased 5 years ago. No smells ever since.

I have stayed in many airbnbs that request guests wash their towels. Like you said, it's pushing a button. I have also stayed in one in Portugal that asked we take our garbage out before leaving. The bed in front of the window is a feng shui thing. Some people believe that it's important to keep energy moving for positive chi. "Putting the bed near the window allows this energy to escape, and so it is not an ideal position." Not what I prescribe to since my bed is in front of a window, but to each their own. 🙂

To Brenda, who asked about keeping the shower door clean, we dry ours completely after every shower! It's not fun to do, but the film that gets on a shower door is so gross to me, so it's worth the couple of minutes it takes to dry it! The shower door will stay clear. Be brave 😉💪

Oh, the bad is a product that I use for my little dog. When she makes an accident it absolutely You can get it at the Dollar Tree. You can get a large gallon of it at the Sam's Club. I use it for everything you can put it on furniture. I put it on. She made an accident on the recliner. I washed it and then put that on the recliner. And let it set and dry so it didn't good and knows more smell. No more bacterious smell

Don't listen to the negative comments about the different flooring colors. If it works for you and your family - that is what matters. Have you contacted Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy - he really knows his stuff. You are very handy - have you thought about making waist high garden beds - that would help keep the critters out. I had two of them and loved them, and not having to bend over or squat down.
