Not sure why this concerto is so overlooked. Sure it might not be quite as refined as his 2nd and 3rd piano concerto but it has its own distinct character and I love that. I especially love the movements 2 through 4 and the 2nd and 3rd movement are kinda groovy!
woah definitely a big switch up from the first 3… yet to listen to 4. Definitely a concerto i’ll probably warm to as i’m older, but for me right now the Larghetto is the standout movement. Or the last. Once I exit my teenage years maybe i’ll find 4 and 5 just as exciting as the first 3.
The theme at 10:32 is so pretty, it’s such a shame the B section at 12:30 isn’t as good/catchy (to me). I wish we could hear a version where Rachmaninoff (maybe late Rachmaninoff) did the B section to this - could be interesting
I sat through the whole concerto. Thanks for posting. Nothing but a genius garbage this is. This composer is a master of eighth notes. It seems he is stuck with them due to his laziness and comfort of life. What a failure composition. But, I think, number 4 beats This by a long shot.
One of my favorite concerto openings, honestly. Instantly grabs your attention, makes you smile, makes you think, and keeps you on the edge.
it really keeps me edging
I cannot have enough of this concerto! An underrated masterpiece
7:08 the theme is so cute

Meraviglioso!

hm i do find that theme as least as catchy as the first theme, especially the increasingly crazy harmonies
A whirlwind tour of Russia during the 20th century... not bad

epic scales
I just wish Prokofiev didn't steal from John Williams 😏

why do people leave comment like this? you just sound immature and opinionated for no reason other than to just be negative.
