    The line that caught your attention is a riff on the old proverb (thought to be from ancient China, popularised by Eleanor Roosevelt): "It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness". Tuomas turns it to "It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead".

    • @Harvinaisenkauniselama
      @Harvinaisenkauniselama  10 месяцев назад +6

      Exactly! I have the original quote (a Chinese proverb tea bag tag) in my quotes journal, but Tuomas put a philosophical spin on it so eloquently it sounded much, much more eloquent. A bit like Leonard Cohen turned Hemingway's famous line, "We are all broken. That's how the light gets in." into his own version about the crack in everything - and it is so effective! I didn't remember though, that it was Eleanor Roosevelt who made that quote famous. Points to her, too!

    Tuomas rarely explains his lyrics in interviews. As with all poetry, the words resonate with our own lives and experiences. I agree with a lot of what you read into this song - and Alpenglow - but there will be others who won't feel the same. What's important is that we don't let our differences divide us. We Were Here! Together. Loving our Nightwish.

  • @elinajarvinen4311

    For me this might be The Uplifting Nightwish song. Both the melodically and lyricswise (is it a word?).
    I think the timpani, or whatever it is, is in the symphony orchestra backtrack.
    In the studio version there is this harp going up and down at the end, I think you can’t hear it (at least well) in live concerts with Floor (I don’t remember - I didn’t listen this with headphones so I might have missed it). Anyway. That harp adds and another layer to the big uplifting emotions and I love it.

    In the later shows it has become "a thing" for Floor and Emppu to do a jump towards each other and land simultaneously and facing each other.

      @@Harvinaisenkauniselama Sorry for this very long post Emilia, But we are sure you will enjoy Learning Something about the Amazing Floor Jansen Story Part 1, Yes there is lots more. First here is the link for something you will really Enjoy, We Hope. Just as before add the and the www. thing. (ruclips.net/video/Od_qcbw3f5Q/видео.html) there are sub titles on this Video Emilia.
      and now to the post itself. / Hi Emilia, What I am going to do for you is this, As you know Floor Jansen is Dutch, she is 6ft and 1 inch tall in her stocking feet, She is Married to Hannes Van Dahl, who is the Drummer in the Swedish Metal Band, Sabaton, They have two children and they live on a Ranch in a very secluded Forrest, 2 hours North of Stockholm.
      As child Floor moved around a lot with her dads Job, and she was very much bullied as a child, over her height, her very soft Southern Dutch Accent, and people where Jealous of her Beauty. Her dad played Guitar, and Floor was always singing around the house as a child, Floor has a younger sister Named Irene Jansen who is also a singer.
      At 16years of age, Floor told her Mom and Dad, that she wanted to join a Dutch Symphonic Metal Band who were called After Forever, They were one of the first ever female fronted Metal Bands, So Floor joined them as a backing singer at first but, when they found out how good she was, she soon became the main singer.
      Floor knew she could sing but she did not know how to do it properly, So she applied and got Accepted at the Dutch Rock Academy for 3 years, to learn everything about music, singing, etc, Floor plays the Piano, The Guitar, and the Flute, She is also a fully Trained Vocal coach, as well. Now Floor always wanted to sing High Notes, so she asked at the Rock Academy, So they advised her to go to the Dutch Royal Opera school which she did for just over 1.5, years, so in total Floor has done almost 5 years of vocal and music Training. This was all done at the same time that she was working in the band, and she also worked in a book shop part time, After Forever were an opening band for the likes of the much bigger bands of the day, Like Iron Maiden, and of course Nightwish, So Tuomas, and Nightwish Band Knew all about Floor Jansen, and he had always Admired Her.
      So After Forever band where together for a total of 15 years, Floor spent 12 of those years as the Singer and Also she wrote quite a few of their songs herself, They decided that they had all had enough and they disbanded, After Releasing 5 Great Albums, and a Few singles, and EP’s. Floor went back to Vocal teaching for a while, +to pay the bills, You see in those Days the Dutch People in General did not like any Metal Music, they only liked the traditional Dutch Folk Music, and main stream Pop Music, So After Forever band never really got the support they so deserved, However things were about to change.
      When Floor Joined Nightwish The Dutch People became very interested in Floor Jansen all of a sudden, and she was asked to do a main stream Dutch TV show, I will let the Next Link tell you the story Emilia, and you will see what I mean. The Next part of this Floor Jansen story will be about How Floor started up her own Metal Band Called Revamp, and how Floor got sick with what the Dutch call a Burnout, or a Break Down, Yes indeed, Floor was out of action for 1.7 years, and she had only just got better, when Toumas and Nightwish Phoned Her, and asked Her could she help them, the rest is history as they say. Oh nearly forgot, There are English Sub Titles on this Video Emilia.

    "Candy-Floss and Popcorn"!
    "We live, in every moment but this one
    Why don’t, we recognise, the faces loving us so?
    What’s God, if not,

      Thank you for your honest comment! You are absolutely right, and I thank you for saying it aloud. You see, I DID watch the whole end, but... I edited it out. I know. In hindsight, I should not have done it, but it was such an emotional ending and I have been through a lot lately, so I cried. A lot. And I thought nobody is interested to see me actually, you know, CRYING crying. And as the ending was actually another song (which is on my playlist and I love it, and I listen to it often in repeat for hours), it didn't matter that much, if you don't see me crying my eyes out... But next time I will not edit those parts out! It was a magnificently beautiful ending.

      @stefanstock953 10 месяцев назад +1

      It's awesome too, right. The shots of happy, singing along Fans at Masters of Rock are very touching. But nothing can top this ending of Wacken 2013. I tell you why...it was the end of an unbelieveable, nerv-wrecking Tour for Nightwish and Floor.. Starting with Annette, firing Annette during the Tour, desperation, calling Floor, Floor had to learn the setlist in 48hours. Than ending that 'Tortour' in Wacken, the Metal Mekka with 82.000 Metalheads, with one of their best concerts ever...damn, just look at them right after LROTD, the relief and the overwelming happyness of Floor, putting her hands to her face in disbelieve. And Tuomas, you could really tell by his expressions, that he realized he had finanly found the missing part of his 'baby', of his creation called 'Nightwish'. It wasn't Tarja, it wasn't Annette. Floor..Floor was the missing part. Oh, and Troy, of course. Thats why Wacken 2013 is for me their ultimate best. Nothing is better as Nightwish live with Nightwish Fans. (I don't call it 'Army', sounds like soldiers, War, Death, Inhuman Unnature, thats not in Tuomas mind).
      'A Virtuelle World'..great thing during the pandamic,...but to be honest..without the Fans, the crowd...hmm....anyway, Stay Safe & Take Care .. PEACE ✌

    Hi Emelia, thankyou for this wonderful reaction - there is something so special about this band, so deep and meaningful, that I find so compelling and yet so hard to put into words. You are so articulate (even speaking in my language) that you always manage to say what I wish I could, and you do it with such passion and love that it really makes my day better. Speaking as you did of how we should appreciate our days in the sun, have you heard their song 'Our Decades in the Sun' ?
