Let me come back to it, when I have gathered my drawing utensiles and get myself a cup of tea. It already looks so beautiful :)
Haha understood! Go get that tea!!! 😍😍😍
Loved looking at your sketchbooks. Can’t wait to see more.
So glad you enjoyed it!!
Love all of this and it was a pleasant reminder for me to loosen up and just enjoy the process of making art again in my own practice. 💕
Yay I’m happy it could be a good reminder for you! Best of luck in your own art practice! 🤗
I read or heard somewhere that as a perfectionist you will never be 100% happy with your work, but if you can be 87% happy, you're doing great!
I like that! We all put too much pressure on ourselves tbh
@@thatoneartist Well you see, me, myself, and I have a deal. When we are each 87% percent confident in our process, we will then proceed to put ourselves "out there" for all to view, to come well or ill from the "all of you" ;)
I really liked this video and the emphasis on this is sketchy and trying things out they don't have to all be perfect. As this year I am trying to me more consistently creative, though I mainly write I think I'm going to try and be more experimental in the things I'm writing instead of the same thing I've been starting over and over again. I look forward to the rest of this series
That’s great! I wish you all the best! You should try something called “morning pages.” I learned about it in the book, “The Artists Way.” Basically what you do is, first thing when you wake up in the morning, you write 3 full pages, straight through, whatever comes to mind. Don’t even take time think about what you’re a going to write. Just do it. Be creative, be weird, be honest, be whatever. It’s a good exercise for all types of artists :)
I've only watched the into so far but i absolutely love the set up and the sort of timeline you gave! 😊Your videoskills are just amazing Darcie!
You’re the best!!!
Awesome variations!
Thanks! :))
Your sketchbooks are so inspiring 🤩
Thank you so much meggie💖
You are lovely and I lovee to come here and support✨ anyway I love how you elaborate your art journey🌸
It means so much to me every time I see you here!! Thank you always 🤗🙏🏻🙏🏻

6:20 Oh gOsh that looks so beautiful(灬º⌓º灬)♡. How is EVERY PAGE OF THIS SKETCHBOOK SO BEAUTIFUL?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHH
THANK YOUUUU💞❤️🎨☀️✨🪐
I’ve kind of bounced around on videos with your channel for ever, and I’m wondering now that you’re out of school…how much do you think having this channel helped you with your art? I’ve seen you do so many challenges and have so much fun! Do you think you would have still done all of the extra stuff without having the channel? Did you notice more growth in yourself at a faster rate than before you started really going at the RUclips thing?
I’m thinking about actually trying to grow on my IG art account now that reels are so dominate, and I was just curious as to if I could actually improve enough for it to matter or not..
Hi! Thanks for your comment and I am SO sorry for replying to it so late 🥲 I’m really bad at keeping up with comments sometimes. Anyway, to answer your question, I do think it’s helped me explore more with art. But I think there are also so many other ways to grow and try new things. Having an audience on RUclips has certainly helped keep me motivated and accountable, but there are many other places to find those things. As far as the challenges I’ve done, I don’t think I would have done as many if it weren’t for my channel.
Overall, I think social media is a fun place to be for an artist. As we all known by now, it also has its downsides and can be toxic. But I love the sharing of information and ideas, the challenges that go around, the inspiration that exists, and I also just love being able to share my art so others can appreciate it!
@@thatoneartist Thank you so much! I’m really glad that you made this channel because I’ve learned so much from you. And don’t be sorry for a late reply. It makes me happy to know that you’re out there living life instead of eagerly searching for each and every little comment.
@@leeleeb7413 haha well thank you 😊 that means a lot! And truuuue 👀👀👀 heheh
Competent arts in this as always.
Many thanks! 😊
I can't attempt to draw anything unless I'm looking at it. I wish that I could be more creative. I just can't see it in my head. Am I hopeless?
Hey I understand the frustration!! For me, I used to only draw out of my head. But then, I learned the importance of using references to improve and to make more dynamic work, so I got used to references. Then, I got frustrated that I “couldn’t draw from my head anymore.” The reality is that I could still draw from my head just as well as, and better than, before. But because I also used references, my “taste” had leveled up. Now I knew how things were supposed to look and I had experienced how much better I could make things when using a reference. Now, I’m working on “building up a library” of images….in my brain. One of my college teachers talks about this. He is an animator, and he does really well with making concept art. Sometimes he uses references, sometimes he doesn’t. He can certainly draw a lot more things than me without reference and still make them look great, and that’s simply because he’s been doing this longer and had more time to build up his “visual-brain-library” lol. I would suggest trying to draw things without reference occasionally, to challenge yourself. But there is NOTHING wrong with using a reference. A suggestion: a more dynamic way to use a reference would be to not draw it exactly. Use it to just get an idea of how to draw the thing you want to draw. Maybe use multiple references. And then use the knowledge from those to make your drawing better. Hope this helps!
@@thatoneartist Thanks.
Hey! So I’ve been an online taught drawer for about five years now. The biggest thing that helped me with creativity was realizing that what I really wanted to be able to do was illustrate. That’s what I meant when I’d ask artist how they draw from their heads. I mean “how do you illustrate?” Now, idk if that’s you too…but some tips I learned on that were…
1. Tell a story (from Kesh on RUclips). ruclips.net/video/GlmhkgD0QX8/видео.html Don’t just do a mindless reference sketch. Think of a story to tell, then use your reference. A girl sitting down? Why is she sitting? Is she on a mushroom? A cloud? A chair? Is she eating? Reading a book? Is she tired of walking a long distance with her dog and backpack?
2. When you don’t know what to draw at all, start with a random idea. (From Drawing Wiff Waffles on RUclips) ruclips.net/video/2bgwKY_xAEA/видео.html Let’s say you think of rain, then marshmallow. A marshmallow in the rain? An island of marshmallow people? What about hot chocolate rain?
3. Just have fun!! Don’t worry about how neat it looks. Just make it! (Doodle Date ruclips.net/video/zzuU9LnBYus/видео.html, and Kasey Golden ruclips.net/video/x6N1s2cZBBo/видео.html on RUclips)
I’ll try to link some of the videos I’m thinking of. Just grab a sketchbook, and play around with ideas. You can’t do it wrong. You’re not hopeless.
At the most, maybe you have aphantasia like HelloAlice ruclips.net/video/cLBL-SH83n4/видео.html Either way, you got this! You can do this. Just keep going!
@@leeleeb7413 I think I have aphantasia. I'm terrible with details too. In my mind I can never see details and it's out of focus. Weird. Smh. Thanks for the info.
@@Justme_247 I thought I replied, but just in case I didn’t…
Temi Danso Art has it too! ruclips.net/video/Luk62oO_xeQ/видео.html
And I definitely recommend that you binge Hullo Alice. I’ll link a couple main videos that may help!
ruclips.net/video/X7Rk-mH7h4U/видео.html (Alice tried a name generator and it helped her a lot! One of my favorite videos)
ruclips.net/video/5oxqWSzs1-I/видео.html (this is a really beautiful piece even through she used references)
ruclips.net/video/CMbPdTKK904/видео.html (she did a self portrait from memory! Good tips here too)
