Hello, I love your art! I’m an artist that only draws in black and white ink but I want to start using color, can you recommend colored pencil brands, gouache brands, ect that are vibrant?
peppermintfoxy Prismacolor premiere or Faber Castell polychromos are both really good for coloured pencils, Daniel Smith is lovey for watercolours, and I like Winsor and Newton for gouache. Depends on how much money you're wanting to invest. A lot of times you get what you pay for with art supplies. Everyone has different tastes though, so one person may say that Qor watercolours are better than Sennelier. A lot of brands, Daniel Smith included, sell sampler cards which are great for figuring out which colours and brands you prefer without spending all that money on a whole tube or set just to find out you don't even like it. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck on your artists journey luv! x
Everytime I get the notification of a new video from you, I go into this ritual where I need to take a shower, put on comfy clothes, grab a cup of tea, and be comfortable to watch it. Your videos are truly a treat. :) Keep up the awesome and beautiful work! 🧡
I actually really really loved your first thread painting, it was one of my favorites. I thought the contrast was so lovely and the people on them were so cute, and the shading was really nice too
I wish I could take another class like that one!!! I absolutely 100% enjoyed the instructor! Her feedback on instagram was so sweet every time! ABSOLUTELY take this course if you have skillshare!!!!!
'Tis nothing but the truth! lol, I seriously LOVED your class and I've felt so rejuvenated as far as inspiration and creativity ever since I took your class!
Really love that abstract/ imaginary style in your art. Personally I see things very abstract as well but when I draw I just couldn’t (scared?) to draw in that way/use different color 😞 I am so tired of myself always trying to mix the right color(the color that’s things “suppose” to be) hope I can force myself to draw a bit differently in the future.
You probably won’t even see this but, I love your channel so much! I’ve been watching you since your polymer clay days and you’ve inspired me so much. I got into making charms because of you and also later got into art. This is an appreciation comment. Thank you for being such a great inspiration. And keep inspiring many more! I love you 💕
Just want to let you know you have the most encouraging, beautiful platform here on youtube. You are my favorite. My go to! Such beautiful work AND you fit it into your everyday life without it being your major... Just awesome!
Thanks for sharing your sketchbook and this class,I decided to give it a go after watching your last video and I just completed day 8 colours and more colours. I'm having so much fun with these prompts I love how they're open ended enough that you have a lot of room to play but still have some structure to get you started. I actually did Marie's first skillshare class as well I just love her teaching style!
aw thanks so much for the sweet words Laura!! I only just got back from my holidays so still have to catch up on looking at everyone's submissions and commenting on them, but I look forward to seeing yours and I'm so so glad you enjoyed it!
It's really interesting hearing your thought process. Like, your paintings are super stunning but hearing the stories behind them it's a completely different experience :)
for the salt and watercolor technique to work, try using ice cream salt, worked for me super cool effects. I learned it back in elementary school and it creates these weird explosion type things!
you deserve to became a very sucessful artist because you are simply amazing and watch you drawing-painting is something that I love to do and make s me calm, inspiered and simply happy.
Hi PearFleur and thanks so so much for the mention and sharing the class! I actually came across these videos thanks to someone who mentioned them on IG but what an honor to have you participate and really really love where you went with all the prompts!! It's an absolute treat seeing your drawings come to life, and also to see how much you explored different media, changed your plan as you went along, had fun or were challenged along the way. Your work is super strong and I was already subscribed to you before you taking the challenge, so it's really lovely to see your interpretation of the prompts. In particular, I really loved your crowd of creatures, the surreal landscape/creature drawing and the 'thread' mountains. :) But in general, your compositions and colors are awesome and it's really inspiring to see you work! All the best to you. :)
I LOVE doing watercolor with salt water! I discovered it one day when I was painting at the beach and just needed some water for my waterbrush so I used water from the sea and if turned out so sparkly!
I love your creatures soooooo much!!! Please, if you’ll ever do them again in the future, show us more of them!! They are weirdly adorable and 8 just love them❤️❤️❤️
sunshelleyseeds your sketches are you practicing to become a better artist, don’t put your art down :( sketches aren’t meant to be masterpieces you got this💛
This is so good!!!! Also I think the reason why the salt didn't work is the watercolor, the ones that don't move a lot like holbein and mission gold usually don't get absorbed by the salt
i really loved the sketch for the "slow" prompt. it really calmed me and it was one of my favorite sketches that you showed! btw you inspire me so much in my watercolor! i hope you have a great day
One teacher told me to put hairspray and let it dry on the pastels and it won’t transfer, I use it a lot, it won’t damage the paper, and one layer is enough besides is cheaper if you want to try it
It's amazing to watch your sketchbook tour and listen to your thinking process at the same time. And also narrated in such a comforting voice! I really like the vibe at 1:44, your interpretation of metamorphasis and the creatures at 9:09 and 12:52. :D I've recently uploaded my sketchbook tour but there is no fixed theme or anything, so it's really inspiring to see how you did a challenge with a promt a day! Now I also wanna do some challenges!
The salt part, I tried many times too. Until recently, I found out it also depends on what type of paper you use. Last time I tried to use it on Meeden, it worked pretty good for me.
Have you seen Oto Kano's video on salt and watercolor? For this technique you def need the right watercolor and to add the salt at the correct moment. I recommend Oto's video!
With the salt, for me it always works better when I don't water down the pigment too much. The wash needs to be wet, yes, but also pigmented enough for a good result. But I'll admit I haven't experimented that much with salt yet.
i just recently discovered this channel aaaa i love your art!!! i think you should do a video or a class that tackles the thinking process when you make art? your artworks always have this feeling or story that i really love!!!
love you girl thanks to the inspiration again I've started this recently it's hard but really great to make art an important part and habit in your life And wait what? You went to korea
Reuploaded since the last one had audio issues!
Sketchbook used: Stillman & Birn Gamma sketchbook
Thank you for watching!
Really enjoyed your reveal .
Really nice sketches. What music do you use??

peppermintfoxy But she did also briefly talk about the gouache and watercolours she's been using.
Your sketchbooks are always so inspiring! The challenge you did looked like a ton of fun too :D
Adam and steph :)
hellanistpunk yes :)

Teresa M. omg I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Wow! I loved the one on thread. That red background and those tiny creatures... Thanks for sharing these ideas from the challenge. Great!

I'm so so glad to hear that, it warms my heart! :)
You deserve it! ;)
I really like the original thread painting especially the background

Has it gotten better? It's been a year after all

Finally a RUclips sketchbook with some actual sketchers

You inspire me so much! I love watching all of your videos! Keep it going!
I LOVE doing watercolor with salt water! I discovered it one day when I was painting at the beach and just needed some water for my waterbrush so I used water from the sea and if turned out so sparkly!
Gosh your style is so eloquent and whimsical. I lovveee all these drawings.
This looks so fun! I really wanna try this challenge, sometimes I'm stuck and I don't know what to draw and these prompts are super cool
Your art is like being in a dream! Surreal but beautiful
So cool! And I love the take 2 drawing, if you sold it as a print I’d definitely buy it! It’s so whimsical
omg i love the hyukoh page, i instantly thought of them when u flipped the page, super cool!!!
i've found that non-iodized (ionized?) salt makes a more snowflake effect with watercolors, while regular salt makes the more bumpy look
I really like Hyukoh too so I'm just happy that you create something inspired on him! I loved
ikr! agh
I always enjoy your sketchbook tours so much. Lovely art m'dear! As always. x
Your work is so surreal and beautiful
Thank you for sharing your sketches! You got me really inspired. I think I will look into the challenge.
I love your creatures soooooo much!!! Please, if you’ll ever do them again in the future, show us more of them!! They are weirdly adorable and 8 just love them❤️❤️❤️
If she called the thread sketch a bad sketch wth are my sketches...
sunshelleyseeds your sketches are you practicing to become a better artist, don’t put your art down

I’m on day 3 of the same course and loving it. Your work is amazing and I love your videos, always waiting in anticipation for the next!
QUEEN INVENTED ART!!!
The drawing of the dream was so beautiful...Just wow...
I love the "blow" prompt painting it's really moody, also the last one about texture reminds me of a bath full of bathbombs
Your voice is soo soothing I have a headache right now and is sensitive to sounds but I can still watch your video while having a headache 💓
inspiration just went from 1 to 101
This is so good!!!!
Also I think the reason why the salt didn't work is the watercolor, the ones that don't move a lot like holbein and mission gold usually don't get absorbed by the salt
so inspiring and beautifully crafted!
I've gotten the salt technique to work with liquid watercolors! That's the only way I've seen really excellent results!
everything you draw is beautiful
i really loved the sketch for the "slow" prompt. it really calmed me and it was one of my favorite sketches that you showed! btw you inspire me so much in my watercolor! i hope you have a great day

A sketch book with actually sketch’s not just full works. 👍 nice
The salt part, I tried many times too. Until recently, I found out it also depends on what type of paper you use. Last time I tried to use it on Meeden, it worked pretty good for me.

I’m not an artist by any means but I just love watching your videos! You are quite talented
You're So Talented!
this is all so beautiful, I love your creativity
i just recently discovered this channel aaaa i love your art!!!
i think you should do a video or a class that tackles the thinking process when you make art? your artworks always have this feeling or story that i really love!!!
You should try droplets of alcohol in watercolor swatches, for texture, or try normal kitchen salt.
Great video I really enjoyed watching this
I’m thinking about doing this challenge. Did you enjoy it?
i really want to see her cause her voice is very beautiful
:o love ur mind it's so interesting
aaah i love your sketchbooks so much
OMG you are so talented!!
Just putting out there that hyukoh is a band, so it's *their* album art! when the singer promotes as a solo (ie in a collab) he goes as oh hyuk :)
This video is so inspiring, it’s making me wanna work in a sketchbook. :)
