- Hi guys! I know I haven't post sketchbook tours for a few years now. I usually work on a few sketchbooks at a time since I do different things in different sketchbooks, and I always mix and jump around from sketchbook to sketchbook so it gets a little confusing. This time there aren't much personal artwork but more about the behind the scenes of the tutorials I make here on RUclips as well as Skillshare. Hope you guys still enjoy ^_^

Her sketch books remind me of the fact that every teacher needs to do a lot of homework before a class. This also goes for her tutorial videos.. she learns it, makes it look easy and palatable.. so we learners can catch it more efficiently and her tutorials become more effective to her viewers.
I can see how much effort she pays.
I have a lot to learn from this sketchbook tour i guess 😄
Aww Thank you! I'm glad you can see a bit of the process from this tour :p I'm always learning still and hope to keep sharing on this channel ❤️
@@Nianiani your works are amazing. Please keep sharing.
Lots of love ❤❤❤......
I really enjoyed this video. So much...I’ve subscribed. It’s refreshing to follow along with your thought processes. Thank you for doing this video!
Correct
So great you talk about improving, even at your high level. I must aim higher and be more patient...
Your paintings are so beautiful and unique. It's really refreshing to watch the huge art collection. And your works inspire me so much.☺
Thank you so much 😀
I love watching sketchbook tours. I love seeing the progress an artist has made over time. It also gives me inspiration on how I may want to setup my sketchbook when I finally get the nerve to start one.
Hope you do! :D:D
I could never be bored of looking at your beautiful artwork.
aww thank you so much!
I don't know why everytime I watch a sketchbook tour video, it just make me so happy! Also motivates me to sit down and paint something 🥺❤
I'm so glad!
Finally an artist that doesn't draw only humans. I love this
Hahaha that's still in the "still badly need to study" list for me xD
Well this is a tour of your hardwork ..no wonder the paintings are so beautiful and wo ever watches them feels like they need to start drawing that instant ,very inspiring
Thank you so much 😀
Wow! 24 minutes! Gonna enjoy this! 🍿
Hahaha thank you! Hope you enjoy ❤
catching up on some of your older stuff... and this is so amazing to see! I am still quite new to painting with watercolour and guache and marvel at your talent! I adore your tutorials as well. sending some love your way today!
Thaankkss!! Sending love back at you ❤
I know, a brilliant artist and very unique.
I think I need a tutor!
yoir old sketches are by no means ugly! They allow insight into your creative process and how well you prepare your tutorials or projects! thank you for showing😍
aww thank you so much! haha yea I tend to just scribble to get ideas xD
Your paintings are a kind of treasure for me .I look at them and I feel so happy.they are so beautifully made !
Thank you. You allow us to see how important planning is to painting. Your flowers are exquisite!
My pleasure 😊 glad you found the tour useful!
Your tutorials and sketchbooks are awesome. I taught for over twenty years and yes behind each lesson I taught were many many hours of preparing for one lesson. Thank you for your channel
No worries ^__^
Your voice and tutorials make me glad through out the day
aww thank you so much!
This was amazing! Every page is a masterpiece! 💛
That's so sweet of you! :D:D
Wow amazing .....! so
cute ....Keep doing this..😍❤Looks so unique....
Thank you! ❤❤❤
@@Nianiani 💖💖
Your paintings have something special and I've enjoyed watching this!
Funny how you say the first older sketches were some of your uglier ones and wonder if we can bear looking at them... I'm sitting here looking at them and think "This looks waaay better than anything I would sketch if I were to sketch a fox or animal" xD That's really lovely art!
aww thank you so much! xD haha they were the unpolished version of my paintings, but the process of learning is also fun
@@Nianiani I like the quote from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie for that. "It's not so much the destination as it is the Journey". And I think that's it with painting and drawing for me. I use it to relax and just switch off foe a while, I learn with every sketch and painting, so you're right, the process of learning is fun, too. If it's something you actually enjoy, haha :)
But I guess I'd say the same about my draft versions of paintings I do, haha
@@blackrose538 Yes!! I go by that quote as well! Result is not always everything, but it's the journey that gets you there, which helps you learn, and I think a lot of times, it's more valuable (even though good results are also satisfying xD)
It was fascinating to see the process that you go through when creating a painting to teach. You make it look so easy in your videos. I never knew how much work was put into a project before you filmed. Your an amazing artist. This was so helpful - thanks!
No worries ^_^ glad you enjoyed it
After watching this tutorial I came to realize that there is a huge hard work, practice n devotion behind every skill.how much practice u do to improve your talent.it also inspires me to do hard work bcoz I always forget that I can't become perfect at first time.thanks to show us ur sketch books n the hard work lies in it.
I'm so glad it opens up a different side about painting! ^_^ I'm also still constantly learning. I think that's what art is - something that you can always build upon
I spend hours and hours watching your videos. They are lovely, you are exceptionally talented.
Aww thank you so much! ^_^
Thank you for sharing. As a new watercolorist I was unsure how to work within my sketch books - this has really given me a framework from which to work. Thank you - and I love your art work...I love watching your tutorials.
Oh that's so great to hear! Wish you the best with your art journey :D
Wow! Every page is an adventure! Thanks for sharing these pages with us!
Happy to sharee :DD
I really enjoyed the tour. Not sure why you don't think this tour is as interesting as the last, it really does show the work you put into your tutorials. I always learn so much from your tutorials, so please keep going!
Thank you so much! I guess I was worried because it didn't really have much paintings outside of what I painted for youtube 😅 I'm happy that people actually found it interesting to watch :D
Thank you so much for doing this! While I do enjoy seeing your more polished pieces, I find it really exciting and insightful looking through your creative process before arriving at the final work! I find it somewhat reassuring and inspiring to see that it really takes a lot of hard work and ideation before you reach the final piece you show to the world, especially since much of art in social media these days (even most sketchbook tours) only really present the already polished output or tutorial, which is only really the tip of the iceberg in creation. It’s a breath of fresh air seeing all the practice and trials you went through and I find that it’s super encouraging especially to newer artists to go through that exploration and planning phase since that’s where so many ideas and techniques grow to life and become more refined. It’s my first time seeing such honest and raw documentation of your artistic process, and I really appreciate your effort to share all of that with us! You are an amazing and inspiring teacher and I look forward to seeing more of your lovely works!
Aww I appreciated this! Thank you so much! A lot of people have actually been mentioning that they enjoyed seeing the rougher pieces which I was initially insecure about. I'll definitely include them in my next sketchbook tours :D:D
Absolutely..each of those pieces in the sketchbook must have taken ages!
This was fun to watch. I like seeing how you design and paint with such variation. Beautiful work. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you so much!
I really like seeing your process as you work on the forms and drawings. I've seen sketchbook tours of finished drawings and sometimes they are so intimidating because you don't see how they got there. Yours show the work that went into refining your shapes and colours. So much more achievable and relaxing. And yet some of your work is very detailed. I love the colors.
Every page is masterfully done and I'm blown away by the amount of detail and effort you put in. Thanks for your lovely tutorials... I'm learning so much from you. Keep doing your art and I wish you good health!
Thank youuu! I'm always learning and hoping to share the knowledge along the way ^_^
Cute owls; nice candy apple; great pansy; wonderful beach. So many great things !
It was very kind of you to share your sketchbook. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love them!! I always find seeing your planning stages and repetition very comforting, because I also do a lot of repetition before a final piece. It’s not something a lot of artists show online!
Yea! I tend to paint things that I'm not used to, so I definitely need the repetition to study them before making the tutorial xD
I am the opposite but admire the planning process. I just like to dive in but I have tried to practice my sketching a little more.
This is the best sketchbook tour I have ever seen ❤️
No waaay! Thank you so much!
Your sketchbooks are wonderful and you've certainly come a long way in your art, congrats. So many wonderful memories and seeing them again was fun. I thoroughly enjoyed your private teaching art sessions, the pieces are adorable. I'd enjoy something like that as a gift. Not all your art tutorials have to be so time-consuming, from seeing how much time you do practicing before presenting the tutorials is a big WOW. I know you like to give us beautiful finished art, not only for your viewers but also yourself and I applaud you for that dedication. II can only speak for me, but I also love the simple practice ones, like the flowers, potted plants, and cute little animals. Tiny simple art and your music are very relaxing, bringing calmness during these times. I also enjoy the challenge of food illustrations which are terrific that you teach on Skillshare. Take a deep breath, please don't be so hard on yourself regarding your art, in the end, it's beautiful, even with the unexpected mistakes which turn into perfect ones. I'm sure you keep reminding us of that and it's reassuring. So continue talking us through the processes and I always enjoy spending time with you.🤗💗🤗🤗
Thank you so much, Joan! I don't always practice that much for all my paintings haha but it does help when making the tutorials as well xD
I don't know if you'll read my comment, but I want you to know that your channel is very helpful. Your art is great, you tips are easy, your voice is soothing.... Your videos are everything!! I'm learning watercolor as a form of therapy and I'm glad you made your knowledge available and free. Thanks a lot.
You're very welcome! I'm so happy that you're able to benefit from these tutorials, especially as a form of therapy! Hope you have a great dayyy ^_^
I'm really impressed with the way you use your sketchbooks, you add every details, compositions, color combination of what you want to draw and you practice. it's so beautiful...!!!!
Thank you so much 😀 I don't do it too much personally, but since a lot of paintings for youtube, I have to find a way to break it down into steps, which is why I need to study them prior to filming haha xD So glad you enjoyed peaking through the sketchbooks ^_^
These paintings are just outstanding 🎉I ❤️ them 😭I wish one day I could draw all these paintings. These paintings are realistic and unique ..lots of love ❣️ from india 🇮🇳 keep it up 👍
Thank you! I'll keep learning and sharing 😊
@@Nianiani your welcome dear 😀😀
Each and every page of your sketch book is a masterpiece !! You're such a great artist 🙌❤
Aww thank you so much!
I loved this tour. It gives newbies a lot of hope lol. I especially love your strawberries!! Each painting looked like I could reach right in and grab a truly juicy berry in the most luscious colors. Bravo.
Thanks so much! 😊
Showing us your books is such a blessing for me. I really appreciate it. 😊 thank you very much!
No worries! Glad you enjoyed watching ^__^
Thank you for showing the sketches too! It's super important to see that nobody magically does amazing paintings and there's a lot of "ugly" sketching behind every finished piece. I think it's important especially on instagram to show that there's a process behind development. =)
Oh sorry I seem to have missed this! Thank you so much! I agree, I think sometimes people think that you can just paint out of thin air. I mean I think some people are gifted and they can do that.. but not meee 🤣
Wow, this exciting. We have the wonderful opportunity to see your past and present finished art and sketches. Memories are great and at times funny when one reflects back, I do that with my ancient art and present-day art. Thanks for sharing,🤗🤗 Happy Easter 🐰🐰🐰
Thank you so much, Joan! Unfortunately I don't have my old art anymore since I left most of them in Australia when I lived there, but that would've been interesting to see xD Happy Easter! ^_^
I absolutely love your sketchbooks, all of them! Your art is so beautiful, and it brings me happiness just to watch your videos.
Thank you so much! ^_^
OMG thank YOU! for opening your art pieces to us and giving us a peak into the behind the scene process! This is pushing me to pickup watercolours again. Looking forward to your future videos!
Yay! Wish you all the best :))
I love this sketchbook tour. It really reminds us that we must all not only break down our subject matter but practice. Getting something beautiful is all about practicing and knowing and understanding your subject. This tour was an eye opener to your minds process to learning and teaching. 🥰🥰🥰
Aww so glad you could learn something from this tour! ^__^
Thank you for sharing your work. It is so helpful to see all the time you put into a finished product.
Glad you got to see a bit of the behind the scenes :p
This is why your tutorials are THE best on RUclips, you put so much effort into it! They are very easy to follow and oftentimes surprisingly good results! I only started watercoloring this January, your tutorials have been the most helpful and the successes I had following them gave me a lot of confidence in painting.
I'm so glad you think so! Makes me happy to share my work, when I know people are actually finding good use from it :D Best of luck for your paintings!
I am learning so much from you. You are have an organized way of teaching I appreciate so much.
Thank you :) appreciate it!
amazing work and inspiring 😍. thanks so much for sharing your workings and drafts, it shows how much practice you have invested
Really enjoyed seeing your sketchbooks, thanks so much (and you're not boring all!! Loved every minute)
Thank you for your encouragement! ^_^
Thank you for showing us. Your artwork is amazing. Im inspired to keep painting in my recently bought 1st journal. 💖
That's great! All the best!
I am new to your channel and to watercolor. Frankly this sketchbook tour was truly magical for me! I share interest in some of your subjects: trees, flora, landscapes, water, skies so seeing what an artist does was so enlightening. My superpower so to speak in my career life as a clinician was detail and observation, so I’m finding those interests carryover nicely in painting, as well as the need to “let go” of some detail upon getting home, if one is to survive in health care anyway. Maybe loose artwork is the parallel here. Anyway, I digress. Thank you for this lovely treat!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! There's something about arts in general that parallels with life in general as well as other disciples. So interesting to see that it's the same with you :D:D
Awesome tour, thank you for letting us see the background to so many of your step by step videos! I started watercolour painting from one of your videos on RUclips and then went on to Skillshare to get some more in-depth lessons, and you are honestly my favourite teacher for watercolouring paintings because of your ability to simplify complex pictures but at the same time make them look really detailed. I also really appreciate that you always clearly indicate which colours and manufacturers you use as that helps a novice like me out a lot. Thanks Nia! :)
Happy to share! :D:D
You're so inspiring. It's like my passion for art is resurrected. Thank you.
Aw thank you so much! Hope you keep painting ^_^
Nia, I loved watching this flip through. I find it encouraging to see your process. It helps to see that you don’t just sit down and paint, you have to work out the process. Thanks for sharing.
Happy to share :D:D
Utterly amazed. Love your work, both drawing and watercolor. Love how you speak; you are a very good teacher. Thank you for taking the time to do this for your subscribers. I look forward to all you share!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I'll keep learning so I can share more :)
Wow thank you for all the work you do to make those tutorials for us! I appreciate it a lot and it is interesting to see how many thoughts you have to put in every single video. Thank you for that!
Glad you enjoyed seeing a bit of the process behind the tutorials as well ^__^
That hamster 💖💖💖 I literally "Awww"ed out loud lol
It's always obvious from your tutorials that a lot of time, care, and thought have gone into them, and it was really fascinating to get a glimpse into the process and refinements that you make along the way. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much! It makes all the work worth it, when people find it useful. Glad you enjoyed a bit of the behind the scenes of my tutorials :p
Beautiful sketchbooks. Not one second was boring !
Aw thank you so much!
I haven't seen all your past works so I was very happy to see these! I will go back and look at those also. Thank you for sharing, not just the finished art but the ideation process and "fails". It gives me courage to push on and when I feel courage I give myself permission to continue, whatever the outcome. 💕💐
You can do it! I've been so happy that ppl's been finding it useful to see all the rough sketches before hand. I'll definitely share the beginning stages next time as well :p Wish you all the best! Don't give up :))
I've not seen this video before - I really enjoyed it! Thank you for showing your journals!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Love all your sketchbooks, you are such a great artist, thanks for all the inspiration!
You are so welcome!
So beautiful flower illstrations!
Loved the tour, quite a few inspiring pages and everything is sooo clean
Thanks so much!
Wooow your creations are just beeeeaaauutiful👌👌👌❤😀 it just makes me sooooo happy to see your wonderful paintings !!! Thankyou so much for this video !! You are just fab 👏👏👏👏💕😘
Thank you! 😊😊😊
I found myself teary-eyed through much of this because beauty sometimes affects me that way. Your landscapes are breathtaking and your birds and animals so darling! I'm a new subscriber so this was fresh to me. I look forward to watching all of your videos over time. Also yesterday I ordered myself an art journal and I imagine how much fun I will have filling it up and looking back at it some day. You see, I just started my watercolor journey 2 weeks ago.
Oh all the best for your watercolor journey! My only tip is to not focus on the result but the process and have fun! ❤❤❤
@@Nianiani Absolutely! I keep telling myself that each time I have learned something, like what not to do. So that is progress!
Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed getting a peek into your sketch books. It encourages me not to give up when every painting isn't a 'keeper'.
I was waiting for this, your soo talented 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻☺️
Aw thank you! Glad you got it in the end :p
Thank-you for sharing this. It's all really beautiful and the relaxing music was a plus !
Yaaay! My pleasure 😊
Your art is so incredible and comforting. I feel enamored by art and inspired to keep working on my skills 🌱
I'm so glad it makes you feel that way :D
Your paintings are awesome so refreshing and unique...❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks so much for sharing! It is so overwhelming as a beginner to think experienced people just get it right (and we don't) as we don't see all the preparation work and tests, so really nice to see the process. And you have lovely work and ideas in there as well! Thank you.
Thank you so much! Haha subject matters that I'm not used to takes a while to figure out xD Even with food, even though it's my go to, there's always new textures to learn but that's what keeps it fun and entertaining as well :D
Idk how she kept all her sketchbook neat and clean 🤯
And mine is very messy
You're art gonna blow my mind 💜
Oh haha I don't think it's neat though xD esp the roughs
Best tour ever..I enjoyed every minute of it 😍😍😍 it's really so inspiring ❤❤❤❤
i feel like crying, idk why 😂 love your works. i just feel happy watching this, thank you
Oh... thats so sweet! ❤️
Your '3 easy leaf doodles' video was my first video to watch, and I'm falling in love since.
Thank's for your tutorial to build shape n colour, its really helpful for beginner like me.
You are great teacher n always give me courage to try. Watching your videos is so refreshing n give me heart content.
Thank you very much dear .. :)
Aw thank you so much!! Hope to share more useful content :))
A tour of multiple sketchbooks... In one video... Thank you! These are gorgeous, even your sketches are amazing .
Thank you so much 😀
Your illustrations are so beautiful.
😍😍
Enjoyed your beautiful sketch books and whole video. 🧡💚🧡
thank you for sharing them with us.
🥰🥰
No worries! :))
Because I am so new to watercolor painting (you made me believe I could learn it) I watched this with my jaw on the floor. Two reasons. One, your sketch books are beautiful. Two, I didn’t have a clue the work involved! I’m glad I signed on to skillshare because of you. Thank you Nia. You are appreciated. Suzanne
Oh I'm so happy to hear that! Hope you're having fun with the medium and enjoying the process ❤️
You are an amazing artist, fantastic art teacher and most importantly very warm and loving human being. You art tutorials has been truly inspiring amid this covid lockdown. Love from India 😘😘 🇮🇳
Thank you so much. I'm happy you've enjoyed the video. Hope you stay safe and happy ^_^
Yes I really really enjoyed looking through your sketchbook it's so beautiful and I love your color pallets and your subjects that you paint. Thank you for your tutorials and sharing your amazing art to us.
Thank you so much!
Your go-through sketchbook video was not boring. I like to see how artists practice. Your exercises were still as beautiful as your final painting. I learned from this video to organize my work. I jump from book to book too. I don't even finish the book. I have oil pastels but never touch them. Would it possible for you to do a video on it? Your detailed explanations are very helpful.
Thank you so much! I think that's the same case for me, which is why when I do finish them, I accumulate a lot, because they're all finished around the same time hahaha
Thank you for this wonderful view of your sketchbooks, it's a rainy day here in UK and they have cheered me and inspired me to keep going. I have only recently found you as having taken up watercolour painting at the age of 70 I was looking for ideas and help. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos, it is appreciated!
It's never to late to start paiting :D:D I'm so happy you find good use from this sketchbook tour! Best of luck for all your paintings ❤️
Really enjoy seeing through your sketchbooks.
Thank you so much!
They are gorgeous books. Seriously.
Thank you so muchh
Who are the great people who dislikes such videos...it really piss off that people are offended to Beauty also...
Great work by Nia🥰
Hahaha Thank you for your support! ^__^
Thank you for sharing your process... when you do the tutorials it looks so easy so am glad that you share that there's a lot of hard work and practices behind the scenes.
You're welcome ^____^
Really enjoyed seeing your sketchbooks...wonderful art in all of them
Thank you so much 😀
So beautiful ....love your sketchbooks, thanks for showing them x
Glad you enjoyed watching the flip though! :D
Oh! That was very relaxing!! I love it! You're amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️✨
Thank you!! 😊
Absolutely Stunning! I'm new to the channel and mainly a portrait artist. I love food and floral paintings but have always found them intimidating due to the small details, I'll have to check out your tutorials but I just wanted to say I really enjoyed the video and loved seeing the insight into each painting.
Thank you so much! ^__^
Very beautiful... Watching this video makes me feel like I’m in a sweet dream...
that's awesome to hear! Thank you ^_^
Inspired by one of your videos I tried to do a gouache painting without any actual gouache paints 😁.. thank you for the inspiration!
Thats great to hear! The making of a great artist.. work with what you've got :p
@@Nianiani thank you so much for your kind words ☺️
It was so che nice seeing your sketchbooks. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure 😊
Your sketches and painting are so inspiring 😭❤️ I wish I can become this good at watercoloring someday
You can do it! ^_^ It'll come in time :)))
This was so interesting and relaxing.
I love your tutorials 😍
you're amazing! ah, the colors you chose are jaw-dropping. You're one of the most talented artists I've seen,
Thank you so much 😀
Great video. It was really nice to see your planning sketches and paintings for the tutorials. Those youtube tutorials are helping me build up to your more detailed skillshare classes. 😊
Yay! Keep up the great work!
They are so lovely. I think I should binge watch all ur videos😍😍
Haha thank youu!!! Hope you enjoy!
Dear Nianiani, this is such a helpful and inspiring video which I just NEEDED!!! It's about UNDERSTANDING that professional artists like you work hard to get where they are, sometimes studying a painting again and again, repeating movements over and over, so they get so perfect, AND NOT like myself painting only when I feel like it in unregular intervals and then feely disapppointed because it does not turn out with the same high quality as your paintings. A bit like envying a model for her small size and not taking into account that SHE does diet constantly and works out hard in the gym in order to get where she is!!! Truly THANK YOU!!! Greetings from Berlin Germany and Happy Easter to you and your family 🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍
Thank youu! That's so sweet of you ^_^ Art does come with practice, but don't forget to enjoy the process as well :D:D Hope you have a wonderful Easter Sunday ^__^
Those little penguins made me smile 🥰
haha they were fun to make :D:D
