  • After falling in love with camping and travel, Julie and Chris decided to move their family of four into a jeep overlander with a tow behind trailer & roof tent. Essentially, they camp full time, but their set up is more luxury than roughing it. Well-thought-out doesn't even begin to describe it.

As a child our parents bought a few acres on the side of a fully forested mountain (small mountain..lol) in Oklahoma. They sold everything and we moved to the property. We had one power plug high up on a tree and that was it. Our parents began building our home/cabin. For 8 months we camped. Literally. Most evenings after dinner we hopped in the station wagon and went to a lake to swim. We used the campground restrooms there to shower before going "home". I was the oldest at 8. Two younger brothers. All in our early 50's now, hands down, no arguments whatsoever....those 8 months are STILL TO THIS DAY the best memories of our early life. We cherish every memory of that time. Im not exaggerating one bit! My father still saddens when reminded of the later loss of that property in the divorce. (Not related to that time at all). All children, actually, most humans I believe ultimately live better lives and are happier when closer to nature. To the earth. Whether by camping, farming, or just being outside more than inside...we are healthier all around. Some prefer the ocean, or desert, others great prairies and others deep jungles or mountainous woods. There's somewhere for everyone. My 2 cents.
    Thanks for sharing.🥰

They never get anything beyond what the mom and dad want. I really truly find this horrible these boys deserve to be in school with Playmates and having a school routine that can build their life. Not mommy and daddy's getaway fun. It's just sad and wrong. These boys deserve so much better the parents are selfish and self-centered.

Well, thing is there's a real world outside camping, where you need to have an education to be able to work, study and live. While I thing their camping set up could be amazing for holidays, it is not going to be good for kids on the longer run. The scholling delay could impair the kids future. Bad schooling = no univ= probably not great jobs opportunity.
So yeah, no school for kids yaaaaay when your are 7yo, but it's actually for the best when it comes to be able to work as functionnal member of the society and to have a minimum of skills so you don't end up in bad places. If you care about your kids.

The children love it and are learning a lot. But children grow, adults get older. So this nomadic type of living in countries like US, Canada and UK is mostly short lived. The nomadic tribes of Mongolia, China, Russia and Africa way of life is all they know and have. No electricity, no internet, no running water, no solar energy, little or no medicine, and in most of these places, no gas driven vehicles. That is a real nomadic life, and it is hard.

I am absolutely certain that children raised in an environment like this will be much more capable of problem-solving and less likely to break down in the face of medium to advanced problems this is so great! The friends I was always jealous of where the ones with adventurous parents their parents seem to actually love each other which was very strange to us. But their family operated as a team made that much stronger than the sum of their parts

"Please be sure to like, comment and subscribe..." Well, it wasn't hard to like this one! Great life for the kids (including problem solving), great to see the unity between the parents and the light of enthusiasm in their eyes. Definitely nicely thought through from first aid to kitchen bench (commercial grade stainless steel) to power to water purification and storage to portable toilet. And it got me thinking, when she said, "I don't have plans anymore, I have goals."

53k for a rig is not “Tiny” or “Minimal”. My thought is this can be done at way less of a cost. Great video and lifestyle!

For sure! We are constantly telling people not to let cost be a barrier to adventure.
That's the great thing about this lifestyle. You can build a great rig on almost any budget and hit the trail. We run into so many different people and builds. It's really rewarding to see how each of us approach our builds differently.

Love this! I had a similar experience as a child in Australia with my parents. These folks are much more advanced and set up /organization/self sufficiency but this is simply brilliant! Fantastic experience for the kids - Nothing impacts you more in education than the experience to travel to encounter new experiences and people. Great parents ;) As long as you have access to a library you are great! Well done 👍
