Green icon means a side positional Red icon means rear positional You can also use your 2nd gcd in the combo to know what positional the 3rd gcd will be If the “Steel Fang” combo button was highlighted for the second part of the combo, the third gcd will be a side positional If the “Dread Fang” combo button was highlighted for the second part of the combo, the third gcd will be a rear positional
Viper at lvl 100 is basically "Continuation, the job". The amount of weaving is insane, but it's also what makes it so fun to me. In fact, I dare say, both picto and viper have become my favourite jobs in their respective roles
Viper is personally the most fun and engaging job in melee jobs for me. This is due to the fact that it is a weaving job with tons of constant double weaving. Two combo paths that intertwine with each other is also a nice touch.
Not sure your "basic combo" suggestion is optimal (using Dread Fang combo twice) given the potency loss on Dread Fangs vs Steel Fangs. And since there isn't an immediate need to reapply/stack the Noxious Gnash debuff after your first rotation, going with Steel Fangs for more damage seems better until you need to reapply the debuff. And in most cases, you're gonna have a stack of Dreadwinder ready so if you really needed/wanted to extend your debuff to the full 40 seconds it's likely better done through that combo route. Need someone to mathcraft this to confirm, but doing back to back Dread Fang combos under any circumstance just seems like a DPS loss.
Great video. Unrelated question: how do you make your own buffs / debuff inflicted on the target show next to each other like that? For me, enemy debuffs are shown only under the target hp bar.
Thanks! So here’s what you gotta do! Open up your settings, then click the setting that says (HUD) when the grid opens up, it should let you move around all of your icons. So look for the buff you want to move, and you can click it and edit it to where every you want to move.
Keep in mind you have 2 buffs (actually 3 but the third is a gcd speed up, so for purposes of this message I'm electing to ignore it. It'll apply in any event). One you put on the enemy, the other you put on yourself. One make the enemy take more damage, the other makes you do more damage. For this reason, i advise against opening the fight with dreadwinder. This is because it only puts the debuff on the enemy, but does not give you the other 2 buffs. Use your normal combo until you hit the green (flanking) ability, then use dreadwinder. Use your normal combo until green again, use dreadwinder again, use reawakening (blue super boost), into your second dreadwinder, then normal combo until green, by which point dreadwinder will be off cd. Tldr: use dreadwinder after you hit the flanking strikes and after reawakenin
As nice as it is to get an idea on how things are connected...is anyone really gonna go into a Duty and put more attention on whatever flashes than what is happening on the rest of the screen?
you're playing the wrong game if you want complexity. This is FFXIV not FFXI. as a matter of fact theirs not a single job in the game thats complex. they are all braindead
agree. excited at first and confused because of those long ass tooltips and then.. its just slam your hard at flashing things. its like reaper but more braindead? picto is way more interesting and fun tho. idk why they keep on making melee classes more simple with "samey" mechanic.
I feel the same about Picto. You hit your single target button, or AOE button and then awkwardly paint your motifs. The only reason why so many people are playing it is bc of how overturned the damage is.

I honestly love what they did with Viper! No more ridiculous azz combo's while trying to remember them for all jobs! Haha
Wait till you get to 100. You’re gonna love it 😎

Ty so much for making a simple guide

Thank you so goddamn much this is the best guide
This is so helpful! Only thing not covered are directionals and oGCD abilities you weave in later.
Yeah I wanted to keep it super basic so it would be easy to follow. Short and to the point. I’ll save that for the lvl 100 guide
very good explain for beginner who want play kirito in ff14!

Can you do a controller guide for this as well?
Tbh is a really fun job
❤❤❤
When do i use dread winder?

Picto > Viper
Sure, if you like casters. I hate playing ranged so I'll never touch it. So viper > picto
I love picto it's a very op caster 😂. Viper I'm slowly getting into it, it's definitely the ninja but not a ninja class
Just a dancer but for melee players... not a very "new" job
THANK YOU!
Probably the must boring and brain dead job I had ever played, I hope they fix it in the future, because it’s really underwhelming.

Your grammar sucks and you're calling something brain dead? Lmao!
Agree, game is basically doing rotation for player
