Major 7.05 Changes: - Noxious Gnash has been removed - Dread Fangs, Dread Maw, Dreadwinder, and Pit of Dread are now renamed to Reaving Fangs, Reaving Maw, Vicewinder, and Vicepit - Steel Fangs and Reaving Fangs now grant a buff that'll buff the other one in the next combo. Basically the same as the combo finishers but combo openers as well.
Yeah, I can figure most of it out on my own but like a quick TLDR on how all the buttons work so I can lay out my initial keybinds. These videos are perfect for that
thank you for being the only person who does this that actually explains buttons and how and why they follow into each other instead of just steamrolling you with a dumptruck of jargon and rotation talk without ever actually explaining the flow of the gameplay
A pretty basic rotation will be 111 for your first combo, 221 for second, 112 for third, and 222 for fourth, and then repeat, weaving Death Rattle between each combo. Then the Dreadwinder combo will be Dreadwinder, Hunter's Coil, double weave Twinfang Bite and Twinblood Bite, Swiftskin's Coil, double weave Twinblood Bite and Twinfang Bite.
Yeah it’s honestly not too hard to be a passable viper as long as you remember to land your positionals. The combos seem complex initially, but once you get your hotbar set up in a way that makes sense to your brain, it’s not too terribly hard to get used to.
@@TheRilvenar The second ability determines the positional. So first combo will be flank, second rear, third flank, and fourth rear. Viper is basically switching back and forth between flank and rear combos.
OMG Thank you!! Just like your Dragoon guide help me floor tank less - this helped me better understand Viper so that hey - it's not as daunting anymore! Please make sure to take breaks and rest between videos - but keep em coming!!
This was such a helpful video, as I unlocked both VPR and PCT and focused on Picto for the most part. Coming to VPR and having no clue what any of those things do, I really appreciate this guide is it's quite easy to digest. Thank you for your hard work friend!!
I picked up Viper last night & the tooltips + changing buttons were a little bewildering. I was worried that I would never figure it out, which would've really sucked cause I've been super excited to play this job since its initial announcement, but you summed up the skills and combos perfectly! Thank you so much for the great guide!
I love how they built in the equivalent of Death’s Design (Noxious Gnash) in the combo rather than as a certain button, given all the Reaper’s actively choose not to upkeep let alone even apply their big debuff. This job plays itself while looking stunning.
I’m new too ff14 content so I don’t really have much to compare it to but it’s just an excellent guide easy to understand that give you all you need to know to start, its just really well made. 👏
So thanks to this video and the line of you basically just push the flashing button really helped lol. I had been finding viper to be completely nonsensical and while it's definitely weird compared to other jobs I'm kind of getting it now
Something that helps me mentally keep track is something I noticed during my level grinds: Flankbane attacks will always correspond to the same Hindsting attack. So Flankbane's Fang will empower Hindsting Fang and Strike will empower Strike. Hindsting will empower the OTHER Flankbane attack. So if you use Hindsting Strike then your Flankbane Fang will be empowered.
My first impression of Viper: "you press one button and another one starts to glow. So you press the glowing button and then fourteen buttons starts to glow..." I still feel to dumb for this job, better stick to whm, rdm and smn xD
oh htank god a guide for this class, I can not wrap my head around having only 2 buttons for my combos but those 2 buttons being combinable in like, a bunch of different ways/orders
This is great! Makes viper feel less speratic. I need a controller guide for this class though, It can be a hassel to find the right button combo to execute everything, especially since its spread across so many different buttons. If it wasnt for the combo auto-changing, I dont think this would have been possible otherwise.
Good way of starting high level jobs like Viper is going to low level dungeons like copperbell with npcs. Get a first feeling for elementary apilities and then get familiar with higher skills Also you can sort the hotbar step by step
Great guide, but didn't Yoshi-P say they were going to be making adjustments in patch 7.05 at the end of the month? I assume those adjustments will change how VPRs rotation works at least somewhat.
Keep it nice short and simple i love these videos if the toxic hardcore want a 30 minute video let them watch the others guide that is already long in length
Megastar, will you be redoing this video after the new changes? I tried to watch this while just starting to practice it and I couldnt even find the first buff you were talking about. So once i figured out it was changed, it made me realize this may be out of date too now.
Hi, it really helped me understand the new Job a lot. If you can, please check Ninja, its not so difficult once you understand but it can be daunting for many with the ninjutsu combinations
Jesus and I thought RPR was convoluted... Man, this is why I don't like the new jobs starting at such a high level, they throw too much at once at you. Thanks for the simplified guide I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually lol.
when i first got to vpr i could already say that i would only properly understand all the shit going on once Megastar dropped the guide and yes, i was right
I feel like this can be summed up even more simply without all the move terminology. You have both a single/aoe combo series for separated swords and a single/aoe combo series for the twinblades (except this starts with a cooldown). Alternate combos to keep your haste and damage boosts up and just do what the game suggests. Use the twinblade combos when the ticks are up. Isn’t that all there is to it at 80?
I love the aesthetic of viper, it is fun right now … but I feel like the simplicity of the job mechanics may get boring quite quickly. I wish that we had to think just a little more about which abilities to use or forward planning of abilities. Just a little more complexity. I may end up swapping back to ninja at some point.
Thanks for the great guide! So… does this mean Viper had 0 damage mitigation or utility for the party at all? I’m so used to on other dps hitting my defensive on aoes that it feels weird when a boss does its attack. Also too I feel like I have nothing to do when I’m dodging mechanics out of melee range other than just spamming my ranged attack.
Even an idiots guide recommends to avoid using the Gauge in combat. Good. I felt like an idiot trying to figure out what moves to use on a training dummy.
“You’ll notice the sword gauge will be orange on both sides” stop right there. No I won’t. If I’m pressing buttons, I am looking at the buttons I’m pushing. If I look away, I stop pushing buttons.
It's really easy to get into actually. And all the classes are completely different play styles. If you try free trial, I recommend you start out as a Lancer which eventually becomes the Dragoon job.
so 0 then? The only way to not get the debuff up is to just press 1 and nothing else, feel like you're chatting shit for the sake of chatting shit bud.
Yeah my sis was pulling her hair out XDDD she was like ITS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO HAVE THE BUFF ON- and I agree but yeah. indeedy i saw it with my own 2 eyes

The short version: just hit the skill that's glowing.
It makes every decision for you!!
I honestly appreciate the non-in depth version. Its like a quick tldr ver that doesnt melt mah brain

This helped a lot, could you explain the 111 221 112 222 with the positionals attached?
like where are the positionals in here*
@@TheRilvenar The second ability determines the positional. So first combo will be flank, second rear, third flank, and fourth rear. Viper is basically switching back and forth between flank and rear combos.

10/10 quality video. I really liked how you made things more understandable by arranging the buttons in a way that made sense on screen. Subbed!
Finally a guide I can understand, thank you. Explaining the bar like I'm 5 is exactly what I needed.
This was such a helpful video, as I unlocked both VPR and PCT and focused on Picto for the most part. Coming to VPR and having no clue what any of those things do, I really appreciate this guide is it's quite easy to digest. Thank you for your hard work friend!!
Thumbs up earned by showing me which Awakening buttons will morph into what, which helped me finalize my hotbar layout in advance. tyvm! o/
Short and to the point. Best guide I’ve seen for viper to date.
I picked up Viper last night & the tooltips + changing buttons were a little bewildering. This is an amazing video, didn't finish it but I already know! Just started playing Viper. Thank you. 👍🏽
Heck yeah!
Been waiting for this before I put together a hotbar for Viper.
You dont need to, just press one skill and done.
The boss just dies
I love how they built in the equivalent of Death’s Design (Noxious Gnash) in the combo rather than as a certain button, given all the Reaper’s actively choose not to upkeep let alone even apply their big debuff. This job plays itself while looking stunning.

Hey, I almost called the opening word for word! I used Edward Kenway in my version, though.
So thanks to this video and the line of you basically just push the flashing button really helped lol. I had been finding viper to be completely nonsensical and while it's definitely weird compared to other jobs I'm kind of getting it now

The reawaken animations and weaving skills in at lvl 100 looks insanely fun
this is probably the video i was waiting the most 😂❤
Thank you. This guide gave me what I needed to sort the hotbar for this self-eating spaghetti monster of a class.
I appreciate this video. After watching lots of videos I finally have an idea of how Viper works with this one.
Excellent guide as always! Really look forward to your videos!
Very nice vid.
That legally distinct Starburst Stream looks super cool too.
Not only I Can't unsee viper as Kirito but also as Noctis, just look at the gap closer...
Man i was waiting for this since early access Thank you, also me "That took you long enough" :p
oh htank god a guide for this class, I can not wrap my head around having only 2 buttons for my combos but those 2 buttons being combinable in like, a bunch of different ways/orders
YES I was waiting for this
I was stuck in the Viper Tutorial for 3 videos before I realised I'd left a skill off my hotbar.
I did this too! haha
Lala Viper reminds me of Yoda. Just bouncing all over the place and cutting things up.
I did vpr's first job quest I had a hard time figuring it out. Then I realized he was telling me what combos into what. God I love my adhd 😂
This is great! Makes viper feel less speratic. OMG YAYYY THANK YOU CUZ I WAS CONFUSED AND COULDNT UNDERSTAND OTHER GUIDES
You actually made it look very simple! Nice! I wish I could level it up at the same time as my Picto cause both are so cool and fun!!
Wow you made this quickly. And you made it clear to understand.
love viper, such a fun job
I'm been having an absolute blast playing viper once I got the hang of it
Watching the Potato tweak out during Reawaken is funny
thank god you were quick with this viper was giving me anxiety
Fantastic guide plz make more for all classes.

Incredibly easy and fun job!

You sound like a real life Lalafell.
/bow to you, good sir.
YES! I was thinking barrel of monkies too! Glad I'm not the only one haha! :D
Best viper guide so far
Keep it nice short and simple i love these videos if the toxic hardcore want a 30 minute video let them watch the others guide that is already long in length
omg thank you been waiting for this
Something else for you to not unsee.....the job stone looks like a steak
"I WANT A GOD DAMNED STEAK!"
TLDR : PRESS SHINY BUTTONZ
I was waiting for this video
My brain is still in "lotta buttons, spam them" mode
Great overview! I'm curious how many takes it took to get all the ability names correct because I'd be a tongue-twisted mess.

With this guide i could actually see that a play a GAME .. thanks
Yup, Kirito will be everywhere now.
So will Edward Kenway.
Judging from how consistently my pots of black paint is selling, yea
Rather be Drizzt or Serge. Kirito is overrated
@@IaconDawnshire Drizzt for sure
Or Zidane. Or King Bradley.

I'm lvl 100 viper already and have got it pretty down, still gonna use this though.

Thank you for these guides because I'm an idiot.😂
I will stick to my Dragoon, because it seems I'm too much of an idiot to learn Viper.
An even easier guide: Know which skills are AOE or single target as starter and then press the things that light up.
hopefully the viper rework doesn't make too much of this guide obsolete already.
4:06 Ah, yes, classic lala
idiots guide for kirito has happened thank you

THE WAY THIS VIDEO IS ALREADY OUTDATED AND IT SJUST 7.05😭😭😭
Where do I get those glasses!? 👀
trying to make a controller crosshotbar setup and the tool tips have me so confused
Yeah this job seems extremely confusing to me but if it all comes down to “press the flashy” I guess it’s pretty simple.
I wanna play this game but I’m scared there’s so much that’ll be thrown at me that I’ll get overwhelmed.
It's really easy to get into actually. And all the classes are completely different play styles. If you try free trial, I recommend you start out as a Lancer which eventually becomes the Dragoon job.
the upcoming limited job beast master seems more interesting.
What class did you start as?
Those generation weaponskills really cement how you will look like a Kirito wannabe
thanks. I will guide all the vipers i meet that i dont even see put the "debuff" on
Thanks i was thinking how do i use this skill 😂
Hey you misspelled detail in the opening disclaimer
Gonna need to update this soon. According to Yoshi P, its not idiot proof enough.
Ok, Viper is now the second job i simply dont get beside Summoner xD
Maybe its because i'm trying to understand something, that doesnt exist =P
Dude... Summoner is easy to play tho... T^T
A controller friendly job maybe?
waiting for pictomancer video :3
How are people like the viper?
really is just melee redmage/dancer. FOLLOW THE FLASHING BUTTONS WHEN THEY APPEAR.
.............so just hit the glowing button...got it lol
I became viper so I can be zidane from ff9 I even have the glamour plate with his full outfit
Why is this getting changed? It looks awesome...
