I got me the Zeus MKII ES and boy to me it feels like a real jack of all trades, 32 SCU of cargo space is good to do some hauling jobs, the size 4 weapons and the size 3 remote turret makes it pretty good to do some bounty hunting contracts and the fuel capacity just does it for me as I love doing exploration. It was mentioned that the CL can go through small wormholes and the fact that the ES and the MR are also the same ship of the CL my best guess is that all the variant of the ship can go through all three different wormhole sizes.
As is tradition there is another difference between the variants on the technical overview pages for the ships. The ES has a Large Quantum fuel tank vs Medium sizes for the MR and CL. So the ES may fit the explorer concept a bit better than first considered.
One of the sleeper facts that most people don't realize about the Zeus Mk II ES, it has a radar scanning turret. If you look at the Technical Overview on the ship profile on the RSI site, it has an empty hex for "Utility Items", but when you click on it, it tells you that there is actually a radar scanning turret. When exploration and scanning gameplay is added, these turrets will provide an active buff to the already powerful sensors on the Zeus MK II ES.
What surprised me about the Zeus, is that it has the same footprint or in other words, is the same length and slightly shorter width & height than the Spirit, on paper. The Zeus (CL variant ) has 3X more shields and cargo, plus about 2X more everything else, not bad for $135. I'm thinking of a CCU. I really Hope CIG starts giving some much needed love to the old ships like the Constellations.
The CL is amazing value and capability for a medium hauler for sure. As for the connie they need a full redesign it is old and it shows in a bad way. However I have a feeling that we might see a connie mkII popping up at some point in late 24 or in 25 when they have everything nailed down the way they want things. Keep in mind the Connie is CR's baby he wants it to shine no doubt.
It doesn't have 3x more shields. They've announced they're reworking components, and that the Zeus's information is based on the new metrics. We don't have enough data to extrapolate what's gonna change.
We need an RSI light carrier like yesterday. A ship that can house 4 ship this size would be great. That way you have a ship that can fly long range and then you can fly these ships around the local space after the jump. You can put 2 cargo variants 1 explorer variant and one bounty hunter variant. Would be a great small org large group setup.
I do expect more small carrier ships to pop up in the distant future, but because of their size and complexity I do not see CIG adding subcaps or caps in similar roles as ships they already have.

The big radar and fuel tanks are good QoL features even if you are not just exploring. It has the best living space, and its extra shielding somewhat makes up for its lack of offensive capabilities.
Then reality comes back and the rework takes place and..... All of the sudden it doesn't top the Aquila anymore, lol. I'm pretty sure down the line the cutlass and the spirit are not going to have just 1 size 2 shield anymore.

@jacobus67gt I came reallllly close to pulling the trigger on a CCU to the CL from a C1 for my smuggler account. The only thing that kept me from doing it is that I'm POSITIVE that the C1's are going to have better acceleration and top end speeds down the road. In smuggling that is extremely important.
All these stats can not compared to older ships as these are the new refactored stats and older ships have not been updated as per CIG, you should never buy a ship under $250 as the value is not there.
That really depends though, so many people daily ships like the Cutlass, etc. Even the Cutter.. this size ship is really solo-friendly with room for friends. You get a lot of value out of having it ready to go after each wipe. Final end-game, perhaps.. but for now not everyone wants to farm up to buy their favorite ships again.
Hmmmm... Idk about that statement of not buying a ship under $250 bud.... While I agree that some ships have shit value, it's not always in the cost, it's in their setup and capability both now and future speculation.. In other words, most fighters and ground vehicles. I know this is in ways an unpopular opinion because many people have a fleet of light fighters lol... That's going to come back and kick them in the ass when Pyro drops but I digress.. As for the don't buy under $250 thing, nah.. Not true.. The Taurus dropped at $150. That is arguably one of if not the BEST all around ship one can get to do several jobs fairly well. Smaller ships are cheaper but they are limited either with range, firepower or cargo space. The Cutless Black is under $250 and it held the crown as the best starter ship prior to the release of the Taurus. I agree that you should tried carefully but some ships just show promise out of the box. I believe the Zues is one of those ships.
i just did buy me MK MR also something you may not have said about the Mr is that it is compared to the other varrient os his sister ships it his very heavled Amored so when the Armor system comes online it will be a fucking beefy tanky ship and yes it looks sexy AF in black
I had to add the ES to my fleet. Only thing I don’t like is the remote turret being only under the ship. Hopefully we could add a top remote turret if we want to later.
Still for me freelancer better option than this for daily driving. Freelancer can fit ROC inside has 4x S3 gimbaled weapons and its smaller. Yes it has 2x S3 shields but size also smaller it means 2x s2 shields covering all body same as bigger Zeus it just needs 4x s2 shield to cover it. Its still s2 medium shield and will drain as fast as on freelancer. I dont think it will be faster and agile then freelancer. It may look better than freelancer but less practical.
I'd love to give input but have a hard issue hearing what you are saying even with captioning. If you could master the audio 2-3db louder it should be easier to hear without headphones or a quiet room.
We don't know how they fly yet. With those features, they will probably be "balanced" to fly like pigs. RSI as a brand does not tend to have speed and handling be the first thing you think of.
No sense in considering it until it's been released and typically nerfed... I hate that CIG always nerfs the selling points of ships after using them to sell the ships... Pretty underhanded way of duping players for more money...
Remember that the Freelancers have both better solo operability and the capacity to support more crew than the Zeus. The Zeus ES also does not have the refinery of the Freelancer DUR, and is outgunned by it. Also, how the 400i stacks up against the Zeus ES will be interesting.
Good content, but maybe dial down the RSI fanboy tone a little bit and at least mention some of the detractors of each model too. Such as the Clipper not being able to access or repair its components while fully loaded, or that CIG mentioned that all ships would be getting their component sizes reworked/rebalanced in the near future. Despite your clickbait title, the Zeus series is competitive industrial or Bounty hunting ship, but by no means “God mode”. Any half competent fighter is going to wreck you, like they should.

Its from RSI with less thrusters and guns then the connie so it will probably handle the same or worse. The white box shows 3 high in the cargo with the other variants having two. So they will probably make it thicker like they did to the msr. Their Job is to sell ships, so don't expect a lot of cons.
We don't know how many wipes before release so I would say buy ships that are easy to get started in, 250 might more than someone is willing to spend.
i just did buy me MK MR also something you may not have said about the Mr is that it is compared to the other varrient os his sister ships it his very heavled Amored so when the Armor system comes online it will be a fucking beefy tanky ship and yes it looks sexy AF in black
I had to add the ES to my fleet. Only thing I don’t like is the remote turret being only under the ship. Hopefully we could add a top remote turret if we want to later.
There is a radar dish in place of the top turret.
@@dolenore that makes sense. Oh well, I still think it will be a great ship to run.
The freelancer for a solo pilot is hard to beat. It is just very very capable and flexible.
Ah yes let the speculation and Theory crafting begin before the ship is off the drawing board
The Zeus Mk II's are by far the most aerodynamic of the RSI lineup. I have no doubt it will fly very well in atmo.
With this shape , in space it might have a problem but compare it to other of this size ,… Corsair, msr, connie
No sense in considering it until it's been released and typically nerfed... I hate that CIG always nerfs the selling points of ships after using them to sell the ships... Pretty underhanded way of duping players for more money...
Price will go up 15-20%
Don't get too excited. CIG will nerf it as soon as the next ship is ready to be hyped.
I predict these components are either gonna get nerfed hard or the price is going to increase drastically
I am sure it will be nerfed by the time it hits the landing pads
Remember that the Freelancers have both better solo operability and the capacity to support more crew than the Zeus. The Zeus ES also does not have the refinery of the Freelancer DUR, and is outgunned by it. Also, how the 400i stacks up against the Zeus ES will be interesting.
The cargo will for sure be reduced until the Zeus gets released.
It wont
Tiny tanks
Good content, but maybe dial down the RSI fanboy tone a little bit and at least mention some of the detractors of each model too. Such as the Clipper not being able to access or repair its components while fully loaded, or that CIG mentioned that all ships would be getting their component sizes reworked/rebalanced in the near future. Despite your clickbait title, the Zeus series is competitive industrial or Bounty hunting ship, but by no means “God mode”. Any half competent fighter is going to wreck you, like they should.
pretty sure these will get nerfed for (reasons)
🤣😂🤣😭
''GOD TIER'', what does that nonsense mean? English please
They need to de bug all the other shit before they make more ships..
Star map is broken
Cargo is often broken
A.i is dumb as bricks
Among other things
How about you learn a few things about game design first and then come back to see what they are actually working on, who would be working on it and how that would or would not affect things.
@@Lintary literally an indie deceloper bud. Maybe learn how to take constructive critisisim ...yes? Like ive made snarter a.i ( fps ) than the ai in sc and im one guy with ue5
