- What is the proper way to unload and reload a revolver? What's the difference between loading a moon clip versus one-by-one?
In this #GUNSMARTS video, Jerry Miculek will explain the process for loading and unloading a revolver with moon clips, speed loaders, and one-by-one.

S&W couldn’t have picked a better spokesperson
This guy has excellent grandpa energy. Feels like when my grandpa taught me to tie knots
I remember watching him shoot when I was a kid. Great to see him so active in the sport/hobby still!
I'm slightly concerning

@@BlizzBobmwhat?
Hu?
I never remember doing this
Many apologies
Idk how I stumbled upon this, I suddenly had the urge to look up “reloading revolvers” and this was the first video, I’m just glad you have a following and audience because your presentation is worth it. Good job, man.
Edit: I meant “revolver loading”
I learned that method from watching my dad (a Master Shooter in both the USAF as an Air Policeman and later Federal cop), Bill Jordan, Delf "Jelly" Bryce, and later Jerry Miculek. All of them used their weak hands to control the gun, push out the cartridges, and steady the gun for reloads while reloading with their strong hand. It's fast, efficient, and has on several occasions been the difference in competition for me against less experienced, but better shooters. Plus, when I carried concealed and on duty (USAF Small Arms Instructor) a revolver years ago it gave me an edge in fast reloads (I can reload my revolvers faster than most semi-auto carriers). Now I use and carry a semi-auto due to age (65 plus), plus I can carry a lighter gun (with better sights) with more cartridges with less reloads.
His left hand transitions from unload to reload so seamlessly!
Good advise and a good lesson. If you're running a smaller revolver, I'd suggest looking into speed strips as well though. They lie flat in a pocket and take up very little space if you're pocket carrying.
Haven’t watched you in a while. I don’t own any guns anymore. You speak so well I actually relaxed while I watched. Well I gotta go time to tense up again.✌️
Yet another day that I learned something more about revolvers. All my revolvers use rimmed cartridges. This time I tried Jerry's gravity assist for speed loaders. I used HKS gravity loaders that bounce and wiggle into the cylinder. I tried the Safariland Comp-3 spring loaders that don't work as well. The Comp-3 loaders have a longer handle that adds bulk and weight. So it's better to guide long handled loaders into the cylinder. Safariland Comp-1 and Comp-2 loaders are short like most speed loaders so you can toss the short loaders straight into the cylinder. The long handled Comp-3 loaders are primarily intended for competition.
Going to practice using short speed loaders. Jerry's gravity system does work. Shaving a second or two off of every stage in IDPA does help. Jerry proves that every time he shoots.
Update on the Comp-3 speed loaders with long handles. Smaller Comp-3 loaders used for K frame sized revolvers don't have the bulk of L frame sized revolvers. The K sized loaders bounce until they slide right in the cylinder. The larger L and N frame revolvers got the bulk that don't bounce around as good.
Hint on the gravity loading way. You must use speed loaders that fit exactly. Using a Colt Python revolver that uses the HKS PY-A loader. You can use a HKS 586 loader. These two loaders are not the same size. You can make the slightly smaller HKS 586 loader work in a Colt Python but you have to wiggle the loader a bit to fit the cartridges into the cylinder. Use only properly sized loaders for your brand and size of revolver for gravity to work.
Always great instructional information/techniques.
Jerry (and his daughter) make everything look so easy . 🙏😀💕
thank god for these videos. extremly helpful. I had been waiting for jerry to explain moon clips
Love Revolvers. This guy is awesome
He makes the reloads seem so easy
Jerry I always admire you my friend.Iam from PR.
Smooth is fast! Thanks Jerry!
I don’t even have a gun license, I just need this for an animation project lmao.
You're not the only one x)
I need this to pretend I'm Chris Redfield with a toy Python lol
Jerry, you're the man!
¡Es un revólver muy interesante y me encanta,lo felicito por este vídeo instructivo muchas gracias!👍😉
Thanks Jerry
Thanks Jerry ! Good job.
Jerry!
Goat Jerry
good video, gravity is cool
Great video!!
Nice
Bro reloads the revolver faster than any magazine I've seen
Tight!
thank so so so so so much.............sir
Very good is the best gun
He’s so fast. He can’t even explain it slow lol he’s just fast 😂😂😂
Great teaching
Just picked up a new 629, does anyone know the difference between the classic and deluxe version?
I suppose this method with muzzle pointing downwards and upwards is allowed only on outdoor ranges? I've never been to a indoor range where it is allowed to point the muzzle up.
The God of the Revolvers😃
Does the moon clip fall too?
DO 9mm moon drop in faster than .45 moon?
There is nothing like the feeling of reloading once again after having to survive on only a handful of bullets for around two weeks.
silly question
can you fire the gun with moon clip in the revolver ?
Yes
구입가능 할까
I have a friend who’s related to jerry.
I know nothing about clearing guns. What about clearing the chamber and dry firing to make sure?

That’s going to be me with my Python, if it ever gets here😒
"Gravity is your friend"
Maybe with revolvers, not with the human body.
make it simple, simple always works. AYE-MEN *slurps chicken noodle broth*
762nd Like for the Win! Brandon sez 9mm can blow out one's lungs, so what does 7.62 do to you boo? The Al Gore Rhythm Machine beats irregularly, c'mon man!
Okay YEP KISS ALWAYS AND OLD DEVIL DOG. 😊
See heres the thing. I dont have a moon clip
This guy knows nothing about revolvers. Yikes.
But you didn't show any of us how to open the revolver chamber to load it all you showed was you loading it
Watch carefully how he is holding it in his left hand, pushing the cylinder out with two fingers and using his thumb on the extractor. It takes repetition, but after a bit you can quickly open, empty and load.
