  • Join me this week as I plant potatos, carrots and cut back the bay tree.
    🌻The plot is around 14 x 8 meters
🌼I've been gardening for about 4 years from my small garden and looking forward to this much larger challenge

Word of advice that has saved me much worries - don't worry about losses to nature! Do your best, but don't get down or stress out about anything, if slugs have eaten something or whatever.. Its all part of it, and the sooner you accept it, the more fun you'll have! And also sow/plant 20% more than you need, cause some will get lost..

I would consider moving either the bay or plum tree later in the year, they look to be planted too close to each other. Probably the plum as it will go dormant in winter, digging a good hole with plenty of nutrients and set it up for a good season next year. I would not get rid of the metal frame it will be handy for growing climbers such as beans and cucumbers even tomatoes

Thank you, I agree one of them needs moving, I am not too sure how easy that will be 😅. I plan on keeping the metal frame I just need to find a way to fix it into the ground 🙂🌱

The bay tree can be shaped into whatever shape, trim mine to 6 ft and about 4 ft cross, can be limbed up to a topiary, the plum is probably a seedling, if its nice, worth transplanting.

Thank you, I hadn’t thought about shaping the bay tree. I might have to give that a try. I think you are correct regarding the plum seed I don’t see why anyone would intentionally plant the plum that close to the bay tree 🌱🙂

Check under your pumpkin pots for slugs and snails they tend to hide under there and around the rims 🙄
That bay is gorgeous never seen one as big 😍 I've managed to kill two given up on them now 😂

Thank you, I’m on permanent slug watch at the moment 😂. The bay tree is very impressive and seems to grow really quickly 🌱🙂

Maybe put a sheet under the bushes and trees when cutting back. You can then just gather it all up for the compost heap.
P S. Make sure your labels are written with a waterproof pen. Found that out the hard way. 😂

Thank you, that’s a great idea for collecting all of the cuttings. I will be sure to give it a try next time 🙂🌱

I agree with Elizabeth check under the rim and the lots for slugs hiding. 😢 murder most fowl (Agatha Christie movie) we get more fur from squirrels and rabbits as we have a hawk family. Hope the sowings do well 👍, Ali 🌤️🇨🇦

Thank you, I will be hunting slugs over the coming days. I’m glad I don’t have hawks circling the plot they sound dangerous 🦅🙂🌱
