It’s not even 5am watching this and that salad looks SO good. lol🤤 😊
Thank you, it was good. Hope you had a chance to enjoy some good food after the early start 🙂🌱
Magic, that shed could do with a camping stove now so you can brew up and warm things through
That’s a great idea and should keep me going through the winter. Thank you 🙂🌱
Do white micro clover paths. A lot easier to maintain, gives the lush green effect and adds biodiversity
Thank you, I like this idea will give it a try 🌱🙂
Allotment Salad Free - Starter in restaurant £9.50 😀
Free and tastes much better 😄 just don’t mention the production costs 😂
Bet the salad tasted great! Home grown veg produces the best flavours.
Thank you, it was delicious the taste is another level compared to supermarket salads. 🌱🙂
The salad looked good. It's so amazing to eat something you grew yourself. Nice to see the transformation. See ya next time.
Thank you, it tasted great and as you say it’s that little bit more special when home grown 🙂🌱
You are doing so well!! Congratulations 🎉. I love your channel. I'm currently starting in my garden after many years off (mother of 6). This year wasn't a great one to start let's be honest 😂 but it's started so all we can do is go forth and conquer! My peas 🫛 turned to white powder mildew, pulled the carrots and potatoes too early and I have tomatoes coming out of my ears! Obviously lots of green ones 🙄. But heyho that's what it's all about. Can't wait for the next episode! Well done 👏
Thank you for the kind words and congratulations on starting back with your garden. The weather has certainly been a challenge this year. I’m thankful I only started half way through. Green tomatoes seem to be the story of the summer 😂. I’m sure next year will see greater success 🙂🌱
Dont forget to give the beans a quick boil before eating.
Thank you, I was just looking this up. I will be sure not to eat them raw again 🙂🌱
Awesome meal and already washed 🤭🤭. You have really done a great job this year Will here’s to an even better 2025 season, Ali 🌞☔️🇨🇦
Thank you, absolutely looking forward to spring 2025 🙂🌱
I grew long white radishes this year surprised at how quick they grew I grate them in a salad really nice not really that hot but sweet think they where called Astor I'll be growing them again , slugs have been a right pain this year , Grass paths look nice but one heck of a lot of work to keep tidy and I found the grass creeps under the wood into your bed's you really have to keep on top of them , if your drying your beans to save wait until they go brown you'll hear them rattle inside , well done on your crops so far in such a short time you've had it looking great 👍
I need to try some different varieties, out of the seeds I planted I only got two successful ones. Grating them on the salad sounds like a great idea will try that next time. Hopefully the paths won’t be too much extra work, I will probably have changed my mind again by the spring 😂 I had hoped to eat the beans but guess it might be too late now so maybe I will leave them to dry. Thanks as always for the comments and advise 🙂🌱
Well done, your getting there and the hard works payinnng off.
Thank you, getting there slowly 🙂🌱
Well done for your first harvest. Quick tip - pick leaves just before you leave to prevent wilting.
Thank you, I keep getting over excited when I arrive on the plot and harvesting. I will aim to hold back until the end going forward 🙂🌱
Best to dig plants out when the soil is wet, too many spades and forks are broken or bent by digging in dry ground.
Wishing for the rain so I can start digging again. Hopefully the digging will get easier as the autumn progresses. Thanks for the tip 🙂🌱
That metal frame you put at the back of your plot would make a great pea frame or bean frame using string across or maybe even good enough for your grapevines if its big enough and just add metal galvanised wire, im enjoying your videos, your plot is coming along nicely 😊
Thank you 🙂 agree I need to make the most of the frame. They are very heavy and not easy to work with but will try and get them setup for next year 🌱🙂
Daft question.. but are they actually pumpkins? They look like courgette leaves! Love your video updates! You're doing bloody great!
Thank you, you have me worried now maybe I mixed up the seeds 😬. I’m 95% sure they are pumpkins 🙂🌱
Started late on most things I would say but a good learning curve, for your toms you can try chutney as you can use green toms in that. The pumpkins will not make it not even flowered yet so I would dig them in as they will be stripping nutrients out your beds. Plots looking great in hindsight you may have been better spending the year focussing on the hard work I.e clearing and prepping you’re going to have an awesome next year ahead. Shed is awesome salvage. Get a fork and a hoe to buy back time on prep work. As to the compost do as someone else suggested make bays with pallets and fork it over, personally this year I’d burn all the dry stuff as ash will top your beds off lovely. Can’t wait for next years progress
Thank you, I think I was too eager to start growing and didn’t focus enough on clearing the plot 😞. As you say next year will hopefully be more successful. I think I will burn what I can, I need to check the rules on fires and maybe looking at building bays over the winter. 🙂🌱
@@growwithwill7841 its all learning also over time youll find some crops just dont work its annoying at times your neighbour will have great carrots for example and you wont you just need to learn what works. Also when you dig over new bits of land full of weeds if the soil is hard as well as forking the ground potatoes do a great job of slowly breaking up the soil and also beans will fix some much needed nitrogen back into the allotment soil
I find a pointed spade shovel a bit easier to dig with as well as a four tine flat fork to loosen roots.
Thank you, agree I think a pointed spade would have helped. I will need to look into getting one 🌱🙂
Knock knock come in😂. Great job Will let’s hope it does a great job of keeping you dry. My potatoes were good but never enough so I’ve done more to try for a winter crop. Doing great Will can’t wait to see what you do next season. Have a fab week, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
Thank you, looking forward to digging up my potato’s will be interested to see how your winter crop get on 🙂🌱
Hello Will, I wish my spring onions would grow like yours I can’t grow them don’t know why, will try again next year. Your tomato plants not sure if you know to take the lower stems off to get air, and the side shoots..if you cut the tops off that will help to put energy into the remaining tomatoes might be a bit later now, but for next year. Your compost bins see if you can get hold of some pallets, doesn’t have to be anything fancy put them together with some wire or string, 3 will be enough but if you can get 5 you could make 2 bins, I made mine and in the 3 years of me having the allotment I have had some lovely compost I put everything from the allotment on the pile and just leave it, I do have 2 compost Daleks( don’t think I have spelt that right)😂bins I use them for my chicken poo has I have chickens.😊that makes great compost.😁
I think the spring onions are beginners luck. Thank you for the tomato advice I was cutting the tops off but will keep a note for next year to remove the lower leaves. Agree it’s probably all a little late now 😞 I think I will try and get a Dalek and then burn some. I would love chickens but not allowed live animals. They must be very rewarding 🙂🌱
@@growwithwill7841 Hi, I rescued 5 of the chickens I had just over 2 years ago, but due to them been old and over that time I have only 1 chicken now, it was a learning curve looking after them, thes a lot to learn when you have chickens which I was surprised..I wouldn’t be getting anymore once my last chicken goes.. You did well with the radishes you grew.🙂
My favorite thing to do put something down and spend the next hour looking for it 🙄 , I cover the compost bay with an old duvet and empty it in autumn to put on my beds keeping some to fill a few pot's for early potatoes you could make yourself compost bays with those pallets you have 👍, Mypex is good as a weed suppressant i find the one you've bought tends to rip easily but does the job 👍 Must say your spring onions are look brillant 👍
I keep misplacing everything 🤦🏻♂️. The duvet trick sounds like a great idea. The weed suppressant felt a lot thinner than I expected but hopefully it does the job. Thank you 🙂🌱
Hello. My pumpkins that formed were eaten and then my pumpkin plant was also eaten 😢
Oh no the slugs seem to be eating everything this year 😞 Hopefully next year will see a more productive harvest 🙂🌱
Hello. Our potato harvest was a bust. Just as much as we put in..... ah well.... better luck next year
Oh no that’s a shame, hopefully next year you get double the harvest to make up for it 🌱🙂
Look forward to following your journey.
Thank you 🙂🌱
Next year you could consider growing pumpkins or courgettes over an arch. It is probably a bit late for pumpkins anyway. Everything else looks really good after such a short time growing. Is that a Bay Tree next to the potato bed? Hope you are going to put some roofing felt on the shed before winter to protect it.
Thank you, agree an arch will work really well next year and I need to sow the pumpkins much earlier. Roof felt is going on this week now the rain has started. The bay tree is next to the potato bed but needs a bit more cutting back 🌱🙂
You need to make some sort of trellis for the grapes to grow along and remove any dead leaves so that light and air can get to the fruit.
Thank you, next year I hope to have some trellis work for them to grow up. To be honest I was surprised to see any grapes this year 🙂🌱
Just found your channel mate, all looking good, you can’t beet home grown food Good luck with the channel 👍
Thank you, I’m really enjoying the process and looking forward to many more harvests next year 🙂🌱
I've only found you today, Will, so I've watched all your video's and loved every one of them. You have done an amazing job in a short time! I'm a kitchen gardener, so I only grow at home with limited room for beds. I'm growing pumpkins for my grandsons, and they're taking over my flower border. I look forward to seeing more from you 😊
Thank you so much for watching. Well done with the pumpkins mine don’t seem to be doing much 😂 but I am still hopeful they will be ready for late October 🙂🌱
👍👍👍
hello we are new to your channel and we are new allotment holders we have had ours since july and still working to get the plot ready for growing next spring lots to do as the plot had nothing on it but an old compost bin its great watching other allotment vlogs as it gives us some new ideas for what we can aim for in the future :)
Thank you, it’s certainly a busy time when you first take on a new plot but hopefully the rewards of fresh vegetables will make it all worth while. Likewise look forward to following your adventures 🙂🌱
New subscriber from New Zealand here - have just binge watched from the beginning of your allotment journey - awesome to see how far things have come in such a short space of time, you're a very hard worker! I'm loving your methodical approach to working your way down the plot area by area. It makes for great viewing as it makes it easier to follow how the allotment is changing and progressing. I'm also really impressed with how fast your filming and editing skills are coming along - it must be time consuming, but it is very much appreciated by us viewers -thanks for a great channel - will be waiting for each episode with great anticipation!
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. It has been hard work but I have really enjoyed the process. Looking forward to growing through the autumn and preparing for next year 🙂🌱
Yes redcurrants, picked loads in my childhood for my grandma bless her , I lot to do still , it helps to have a nice person next to you , the sound of the birds was beautiful, 🌻🦋🦔, couple of hours here and there will bring it along , keep enjoying 👍👊
Thank you, I find the wildlife sounds very calming when on the plot. Making slow progress but enjoying the process 🙂🌱
All the best , be nice to watch your allotment progress , hope you have good results 👍🍀🥒🍈🥦🌶️ ive just got a raised bed in a community allotment, this year is about testing the soil and just seeing what grows plan better for next year good look ive subscribed to you so hoping i get tips from you , or i may have some for you 👍👊🍅🍈🥦🐞🐝
Thank you for the sub, the raised bed on a community plot sounds exciting. You must have many plans for next year. I am going need all the advice I can get 😂 and hopefully share some of what I learn 🙂🌱
If you cut a lot of the green from the tomatoes all the energy will go into the fruit and they will ripen quicker as the sun can get to them.
Thank you, I will give this a try. I’m worried they are running out of time to ripen 🙂🌱
Enjoy your harvest, Will. Shed looks great. If you harvest the leaves off of your spring onions and leave the root in, you'll get another lot of growth, and can harvest the whole onion then
Thank you, I am surprised the shed is still standing, hoping it lasts through the winter. I will give that spring onion trick a try 🙂🌱
Very comforting to know that those little plants and seeds you popped in the ground can give such a great harvest. It's sweet!
It always amazes me how you can put a seed in the ground and it produces food 🙂🌱
Fab harvest Will and what we suffer all the bugs grubs and tears 😭 for, good job, Ali 🌥️🇨🇦
Thank you, it all seems worth it now 🙂🌱
Wow i wish you could buy spring onions that size! Well done…enjoy.
Thank you, they tasted great well worth growing 🙂🌱
So satisfying when you start harvesting , lovely looking spring onions well done 👍
It makes all the effort feel worth it. Thank you 🙂🌱
Congratulations on your first harvest🎉
Thank you 🙂🌱
I'm running out of steam for my plot as well, it's been a tough growing year!
It’s been tough, hopefully next year will bring more success 🙂🌱

That makes two of us 😂. Thanks for the sub 🌱🙂
Garden looks great. New sub here ❤❤❤

Thank you 🙂🌱
rhubarb love horse muck
that soil looks awesome to be fair. good job done
Thank you, hopefully the rhubarb grow successfully 🌱🙂
take the flowers off the spuds as they are draining growing umpfh !! the spuds need all energy down below
Thank you, I did wonder if they should be removed. Will be sure to cut them off now 🙂🌱
I'm going to attempt my first ever fall veggies... my summer was a failure as we had terrible heatwaves and none of my plants made it. Your garden looks great Will☺
Thank you, that sounds like a great idea. I need to start thinking about fall veggies. I hope you have more success with the new season 🌱🙂
Autumn is my favourite time, its nearly spring here in New Zealand. Why because hopefully, can weed, compost, sort out next years summer beds. The winter vegetables just need protection from the chooks, and sparrow's. This year let the chooks from May until beginning of August have free range, they ate lots of weeds. The ones they didn't I dug them out!
Thank you, sounds like lots to look forward to in Autumn and take stock. Wishing you a productive spring. I could do with some chickens to help with the weeding 🙂🌱
Hello Will, Not sure if you know but Rhubarb will grow very big, in that bed you could get away with putting 2-3 plants in that bed..😊
Thank you, I did think I might have added too many. Will see which ones grow best and maybe move the others 🌱🙂
Great job Will hope it all grows well, adding small areas of flowers in beds will benefit the veg harvests, Ali ☔️🇨🇦
Thank you, adding flower seeds to the list for next year 🙂🌱
@@growwithwill7841 be careful what you grow 🤣 some flowers take over too
When planning your garden, don’t forget that some flowers can add a lot to the quality of the soil. Everything is looking great!
Thank you, I need to add flowers to my planting plan for next year 🙂🌱
