Shortstop is used more frequently in MvM for its extra clip size because of this one fun fact: Whenever the Shortstop random crits, its ENTIRE clip becomes crits thus with max clip size you can fire 12 of them triple damage shots (Also makes it the only single-fire weapon that can consistently deal crits in the same fashion as miniguns and flamethrowers do) 4 crits in a row already sound lethal for a scout to have

@@ralphthejedimaster I'm doing just fine with it. But yeah, you really don't want to use this thing close. Best case scenario with the cola if you want to snipe though
@@solforecast2101 it actually outdoes stock at close range DPS because of the firing speed, especially against light classes since you can still 2 shot them. it just requires much more accuracy in order to actually get that damage due to the tighter spread, stock will generally be stronger in close quarters but if your aim is on point with the shortstop you can drop anything short of a heavy faster than a backstab. shove aside my only issue with it that isn't just a game wide issue like bullet spread, is the long reload which is very punishing when you don't land your shots that well and just generally hurts your output with the amount of downtime
The biggest mistake I see with people using the shortstop is that they use it like it's a scatter gun. You have to take advantage of the low bullet spread and use it mid range as much a possible. Especially against other scouts. I find it to be extremely useful if the enemy team has pyros. They are forced to use their secondary on you or retreat
This was secretly a high IQ move on Vorobey's part, as there was a medic nearby, Scout is lower priority for Medics to heal, and his particularly high health wouldn't give much charge. By stealing the medkit from the Demo, the Demo was eventually able to realize that their Medic was much more important than any medium health kit; while a health kit is loyal to nobody and usable to all, a medic only heals one team, and will follow you loyally into the deepest sentry nests if you protect them. Likewise, they realized that medkits are short-term benefits while a medic can be the difference between winning or losing and are in turn much more vulnerable. Vorobey did much more than steal a health kit from a demo at 118 health, no, he encouraged a Demo to become the world's best Medic Buddy that round, and eventually lead the entire team to winning the match through making sure their medic would never die again.
The main reason people use backscatter over shortstop, is that your playstyle won't change much, unlike the shortstop. The shortstop is best at mid-range unlike the other scatterguns, the problem is that you could easily close the distance and two-shot them if there at mid-range with any other scatter gun.
The difference between other scatter gun and shortstop is that it deals good damage at mid and long range. Hell, this video showed scout dealing 195 damage with crit a cola while still maintaining safe distance. The only reason most people don't use shortstop much is because you need even more skill in aiming the thing. The spread is tighter.
@@zuhdibeyblade9 that, and your fast... Which means if you need to make a slight adjustment, your fucked. It's not just your aim, it's your speed actively hindering your aim, and that's not exactly something most can learn to deal with. I honestly think it'd pair well with a jacket that decreases movement speed and the loss of a jump for extra health and the ability to do knock back with any melee, like the shove but with the hitbox of the bat and the damage of it. This would make it great with the sandman or wrap assassin with the projectile, and just a generally good trade for a class reliant on mobility and a good secondary, but depending on the health increase it wouldn't be too busted in either direction, just a mirror to the shield. That, and shoving with melee could be interesting.
I'm watching the clip at the very start of the video and I'm already like "Woah! that's really good. how did I never think of that?" If Valve thought spy killing from across the map wasn't supposed to happen, wait till they see this.
@@markdevaney3909 What? No. Shortstop doesn't lose on DPS, only on BURST DAMAGE when compared to stock.
