Wow, it’s interesting to see Tom with his natural gray hair on the Price Is Right set, since he started dying it brown when tapped to host the Nighttime Price Is Right a year later! :-)
There were two stars of "The Price Is Right" on the same stage, and Tom Kennedy succeeded Bob Barker as the new star of "The Nighttime Price Is Right" which only lasted one season for its return to syndication during the 1985-86 season. And he was on stage to promote "Body Language" on CBS, and these 2 were true class acts!
@@shawno.8322 You're right about it, and he didn't do well to succeed Bob Barker on "The Nighttime Price Is Right" during his 1 season as host, the game show was not renewed for another season when the ratings dropped, and its final episode aired May 30, 1986 after 170 episodes. RIP Bob Barker and Tom Kennedy.
Bill Cullen also made an appearance to promote child's play. But it was kinda insulting they didn't even acknowledge his previous run as host of the price is right.
Season 12 Air Date Friday June 1st 1984. Special cameo appearance Tom Kennedy on The Price is Right to promote his new game show "BODY LANGUAGE" airing CBS Daytime Monday June 4th 1984. Following year hosting nighttime syndicated TPIR from September 9th 1985 thru May 30th 1986.
I found it strange during Bill's appearance they didn't even mention he used to host tpir. The main reason they didn't bring him back was under the new version, the set was huge, and Bill had physical limitations, so it would have been difficult for him to do it.
Tom’s first and only audience walk down the aisle. Then months later he hosted the nighttime Price Is Right from February 1985 till May 1986. They should’ve done one more season year but the ratings were low when Wheel of Fortune took over.
Wheel of Fortune (and Jeopardy)were and still are time slotted somewhere between the late afternoon/dinnertime dayparts in most markets the exception being the summer-long Super Jeopardy tournament that was shown in primetime years later(around 1990). IIRC TPIR aired on Thursday nights head to head with The Cosby Show as I remember my mom letting me watch TPIR if that week's Cosby episode was a rerun. Expanding to an hour, more expensive prizes, bringing in Bob Barker to host, putting a tuxedo on Bob, couldn't help daytime's #1 show overcome the #1 prime time show in the ratings. That being said Tom Kennedy is an underrated host of not only the nighttime TPIR but Body Language, Password+(after the legendary Allen Ludden fell ill), Name That Tune, and my personal favorite: Whew! which also introduced furture TPIR announcer Rod Roddy to game show fans.
You know what, it’s like when I watch the show now the essence of the show is not there anymore. No more train depot to every room in the house to the House that Bob built.
I think Drew's okay, would he have been my first choice to succeed Bob, no. But at least he's not out there trying to imitate someone else, he's brought his own style to it. I can see how some people don't care for it, but I'm fine with it.
And this was NOT the first time Tom Kennedy did one of these "C'mon down" to promote another CBS game show type of segments. In 1979 he did the exact same thing promoting Whew!
Tom has hosted quite a few shows previously hosted by other emcees, like Name That Tune 1974-1981, Break The Bank 1976 in new format, Password Plus 80-82, Body Language 1984 a revival of Showoffs 1975, and of course The Price is Right Nighttime 1985-1986
TV game show hosts can make their appearances but can't be contestants on The Price Is Right; Tom Kennedy tells Bob Barker why's he's present and what brought him onstage: Body Language.
@Frankie-O Possibly his last TV appearance before his death, he hosted the question round. Incidentally Peter hosted one of the pilots for Whammy but they chose to give the job to Todd Newton instead for whatever reason.

Here’s the premiere of Body Language!
Elizabeth Banks brought Press Your Luck to our living room, Joel McHale did the same thing with Card Sharks.
Tom would end up hosting the nighttime syndicated TPIR from 1985-86.
A year later
He also darkened his hair for TPIR, which was also seen in BODY LANGUAGE during 1985.
Now Bob and Tom are reuinited in heaven. Rest in Peace, legends!
3 game show hosts we lost in 2020: Regis Philbin, Tom Kennedy, Alex Trebek.
Bob, Tom, Johnny O and Rod, and Gene Wood all reunited in TPIR Heaven.
Tom Kennedy later hosted the nighttime version of the price is right from 9/9/85 to 5/30/86.
Regis Philbin - WWTBAM, primetime version, Meredith Vieira - WWTBAM, syndicated version.
Wow, it’s interesting to see Tom with his natural gray hair on the Price Is Right set, since he started dying it brown when tapped to host the Nighttime Price Is Right a year later! :-)
Maybe he said if Barker is doing it, so will I 😂
Did just what Bob Eubanks did a year and a half later, minus the bidding. Bob and Tom, two true class acts!
Bob and Tom, in the morning! Ironically, there's a morning radio show of the same name here in St. Louis, MO!
@@KiddBloo86 What's also ironic, is the fact that Bob's show replaced Tom's.
I met Bob Eubanks at the Chiller Theater Expo and he told me Bob Barker was a first class pain in the ass. Lol

This is fantastic! In the mid '80s, Tom Kennedy hosted a nighttime version of "TPIR" for one season.
You mean a primetime version on TPIR.
@@Frankie-O It was a syndicated version of the show. "The Price is Right" would do several primetime episodes of the show in the Summer of 1986.
Bill Cullen was the host of Hot Potato, which lasted only 1 season.
Was lucky enough to have met and speak with Tom and his wife on numerous occasions. He was such a great guy. He will be missed.
🍀
I loved watching this video. It was great seeing two excellent Price is Right hosts on the same stage.
This
Bill Cullen also made an appearance to promote child's play. But it was kinda insulting they didn't even acknowledge his previous run as host of the price is right.
And just a year later Tom would be right back up on that stage, doing a fine job of hosting TPIR.
I’ve seen his hosting skills on this show and it was good I wish they would air them on buzzr at least!
@@StLawrencePlace Not gonna happen.
@@LeoVargas94Oficial You never know!
@@georgemaster689 It won't. Fremantle already made an agreement with CBS.
@@LeoVargas94Oficial What a huge letdown for us classic TPIR fans😩
This is the best two hosts iv'e seen on TPIR.Exellent clip.My two favorite hosts Bob Barker then Tom Kennedy.
Regis Philbin - best WWTBAM primetime host, Meredith Vieira - best WWTBAM syndicated host.
Tom was truly one of the greats.
Yes he was indeed.
Regis Philbin was truly worth $1,000,000.
Tom was a marvelous emcee, and a busy one. I think the only host who did more shows than Tom was Bill Cullen.

R.I.P Tom Kennedy 2020.
Regis Philbin plus Alex Trebek were our 2 legendary game show hosts both gone the same year, and now Tom Kennedy was in between them.
King Bob Barker On Price Is Right Mornings, And Prince Tom Kennedy On Price Is Right Nighttimes.
Regis Philbin on primetime version of Millionaire! Meredith Vieira on syndicated version of Millionaire.
I remember him on The Nighttime Price is Right. R.I.P. Mr. Tom Kennedy.
R.I.P. Tom Kennedy and Bob Barker
Unusual seeing Tom on the Price is Right set with gray hair.
Jay Leno has white hair with a black spot, I don't know if he still does.
Bob Barker had Bert Convy, Bill Cullen, Tom Kennedy, Bob Eubanks and Ray Combs plug their shows on The Price Is Right

The 2 stars on The Price is Right - one of daytime and one of nighttime.

OMG, so much fun!
Bob Barker and Tom Kennedy were true icons of the Price is Right. I have little to say about Drew.
You know what, it’s like when I watch the show now the essence of the show is not there anymore. No more train depot to every room in the house to the House that Bob built.
Don't forget Dennis James he was great too.
Agreed. Tom Kennedy only hosted a seasons worth of shows, but he was more than ten times the host that Drew Carey has ever been or will ever be.
We had little to say about all of the other Jeopardy! guest hosts.
I think Drew's okay, would he have been my first choice to succeed Bob, no. But at least he's not out there trying to imitate someone else, he's brought his own style to it. I can see how some people don't care for it, but I'm fine with it.
He also wanted to tell him that he would host a nighttime version of this very show as well but felt like it was a year and a half too early for that.

This was June 1, 1984 when he promoted Body Language then the following year he did both his show and this show nighttime.
May Tom Kennedy RIP.
Tom Kennedy, resting easy in between Regis Philbin and Alex Trebek.
1:14, never had that game during his tenure.
When Bob Eubanks came down a year later, it was a staff prank. Bob had no idea. It looks like this one was planned.
