This is what a big four looks like and hail Paradise lost and our darker thoughts.
Katatonia is a good band honestly, but I dont think they play in the same league as PL, MDB and Anathema. Their sound is not so organic and doesn't have the same delicacy and elegance those 3 bands have. The problem with Katatonia is that they just try to sound too modern, which kinda ruins their artistic intentions, which are to create melancholic sounds
@@alfredoca687 I think that's a very personal idea brother and I know few people who are at your side but I always thought that Katatonia is one of the bravest bands out there. With a short look at their carrier first thing I saw was originality as My Dying Bride is one of the faithful and royal bands unlike many others. Despite the fact that they are pioneers of this genre they are just creating what their souls want. It can be in any way. With respect and hail brother. Doom on...

@@alfredoca687 They're my least fave of the four too but I wouldn't disagree with someone including them in a 'big four' of sorts in terms of influence & creativity for the early 90s goth death doom sound. I can't really think of another on their level to replace them with...
Anyway I'm an old schooler all the way, don't really follow Anathema or Katatonia anymore.

Remember listening to this song (and the album) driving while lockdown through the absolutely empty Saint Petersburg. Dark clouds, cold, little eerie sunset and empty streets everywhere. Stunning
I will forever attach this album with the first wave of lockdown. So perfect for the isolated morbid atmosphere I was living in. Thank the universe for PL for making lemonade out of lemons :)
Love this city with all my heart
This band has a special place in my heart. I followed them through fire and water and I'm glad I did. They were the soundtrack of my youth and at 40 I still love them just as much. This track and the video are just another example of their brilliance.

а я о них узнал, как только вышел клип erased... год назад в феврале был на них в Киеве. они заметно повзрослели, Ник с Грегом. а Аарон и Стивен не так сильно заметно постарели!
Вот то же самое я только что сказала своей дочери, ребята постарели. Я их слушаю с 15 лет , сейчас мне 42, гениальнее музыки для меня нет.

The first song I ever heard from Paradise Lost was "No Celebration". I was walking through a flea market in Beijing in 2005. Chinese guy had a shop set up with really well done bootleg CD's, had the song blasting. needless to say the song caught my attention and I found an incredible band to listen too. good memories.

They have changed so much over the years and they do not seem to ever quit trying to reach new heights. It seems like Nick has finally combined his clear and growl vocals nicely. I wonder how difficult it is to change between them?
I remember 90s very well, Paradise Lost was one of the "big 4" along with My Dying Bride, Moonspell and Anathema. They still are on the top.

I will never forget my first encounter with PL, when i saw the video for "Pity the sadness" on MTV's Headbangers Ball (where's Vanessa Warwick by the way 😁).
Must have been back in 92 or so......since then they accompanied me through my whole life.
Hope, they will go on forever.....
I sometimes forget how spectacular this band is, even in the One Second era they were able to pull off that new direction.

When I was 18 , I saw True believe on MTv's head bangers ball . Next Morning I was on hunt for Paradise lost album. In the small town I am coming from we had just 3 small music stores. In one of them 1x2 meter shelf with cassettes dedicated to Metal. And album Icon was between them . Since than Paradise lost is my Favourite band. Thank you for all those great songs albums and Live shows.

This song was released on 2020 on the same time the lockdown due Covid 19 start all over the world, this is so scary coincidence on metal as Slayer released the God Hate Us All album on september 11th 2001, no doubt this song is one of the most powerful songs on metal history.
