👋 Hola, I'm Nate. I used to not know any Spanish at all, and I had no interest in learning the language. I thought learning Spanish would be boring, a waste of time, and would provide no value to my life. Then I started taking Spanish classes in high school and everything changed for me. I struggled with learning the language a lot at first, but thanks to my teachers and my Spanish speaking friends, they helped make the learning process fun. Within a few months, I had gotten to a conversational level, but more important, I had become a more confident person. The real win for me, though, was the friendships I made and strengthened. I discovered that not only did I have higher self esteem, but being out in the real world with people, whether old friends or new ones I met, made me feel more alive and connected with the world around me. Now it's my goal to create videos that make you smile and inspire you to learn Spanish or another language!

For everyone watching this, I highly recommend dreaming spanish. The method of learning spanish that I've found most effective is comprehensible input. It only takes about 50 hours of watch time to follow basic everyday topics and conversations

Seconding Dreaming Spanish. It's the GOAT! Before DS, I wouldn't have been able to understand this video. Now I follow it easily. Ha, sounds like a paid advertisement, but I promise it's not. I had tried everything else. Comprehensible Input is where it's at!

Dreaming Spanish has been the best tool for me. It’s helped my understanding a ton. I was able to carry a conversation completely in Spanish for over 2 hours with our cleaning lady who is from Cuba and doesn’t speak English. She told me that she wished her English was as good as my Spanish. Currently, I’ve watched 269 hours of videos on there. The videos are enjoyable to watch, and I’ve learned some things about other countries in the process. I listen to Nate’s podcast, How To Spanish, and Espanolistos several times a week.

They’re great and a lagging indicator of my comprehension as I listen to Dreaming Spanish intermediate and come back to them occasionally and I understand more and faster each time. 👍

Most of my speaking has been reading aloud. I live alone. I don’t have friends or family with whom I can converse in Spanish.

Well that was a fun and relevant conversation to listen to. Gracias por compartir. I would love to travel to Mexico sometime for an immersive course where you speak Spanish all the time.

I think HTSP has a week long immersion that's open right now for October. I went last year in Feb, and it was one of the best decisions of my life! 😂🔥
It helped me so much getting comfortable speaking and really using Spanish to express myself whilst enjoying Mexico.

El mejor método para aprender español es lo que te da exposición todos los días. He notado que la razón por la que muchos estudiantes se quedan a nivel básico es porque no tienen suficiente exposición al idioma.

I tried listening to them a couple times, but being a Spanish language learner, I need some English in order to help me understand -- they speak very, very little Englsih in their Podcast. How am I supposed to learn if I don't understand much of what they are saying?

Use dreaming spanish, it's only 8 dollars a month and it's helped me tons. It only took me about 30 hours of comprehensible input to understand some conversations of Spanish speakers at my job

You use input like podcasts to help the speed at which you can process what is being said. Words you consistently don’t know can be put into flash cards in context (ie in a sentence) for you to study.

They have a brand new channel called how to start spanish..they introduce the topic in English, speak slower spanish and have translations and/or pictures pop up on the screen throughout

Just keep listening to spanish your brain is doing alot of work behind the scenes. Save the video for a later date and watch how much you improve. Also it's OK not to understand everything.

like someone else pointed out, they have a new channel for beginners where speak super slowly. also I think it's worth mentioning that I hardly understood anything they said when I found their channel a little over a year ago, and today I can understand almost 100% of what they say. if you combine consistent listening with other kinds of practice, it really helps a lot. you might not feel like it's helping you to listen to something you can't comprehend, but over time your brain learns, and you'll notice one day that suddenly you have a new level of understanding of what you're hearing. don't give up!

David, me encanta tu sugerencia de usar memes. Soy cristiano cómo tú y prefiero memes limpios. ¿Dónde puedo encontrarlos? ¿Qué cuentas específicas de Facebook o Instagram prefieres? Mil gracias. David Lambert
