When someone waves at you and says hi, and you wave and greet them back, only to realize that they weren't waving at you!
Also I have a funny embarrassing story that happened to me last year. I was traveling by bus to another state with my church youth group, and we made a quick stop at a gas station to use the bathroom. The other girls just wanted to buy snacks before using the bathroom, so I was the first one to go in and use it. It was a bathroom with a few stalls, and so I go into a stall and then I hear someone else come into the bathroom and go into the stall next to mine. Then she says, "..Hello?" and I genuinely thought it was one of the girls who came into the bathroom after me and was trying to see if it was me next to her. So I say "Hello?" right back. BUT THEN THE PERSON PROCEEDS TO TALK TO SOMEONE... ON THE PHONE... AND THAT WAS HER ANSWERING THE PHONE. And it wasn't one of the girls in my youth group, it was a complete stranger! I was SOO embarrassed! I got outta there as quickly as I could so I wouldn't have to awkwardly face her! But the fact that it was during a road trip makes me feel better because I will definitely never see that person again lol.

Lo mas vergonzoso para mi es cuando la gente me hablaba espanol y me siento estupido porque no se lo que dicen. Soy mitad hispano y parezco alguien que deberia hablar espanol. Ahora gracias a tu canal puedo pasar menos verguenza y ojala pronto no sepan que soy nueva hablando espanol.

Una cosa es después de haber mandado un texto ves que hay errores tipográficos o de “autocorrección” que son muy graciosos y que no tienen nada que ver con lo que intentaste decir y por eso no tiene ningún sentido. Eso me pasa a mi frecuentemente.
Cuando el taxista te deja en el aeropuerto y te desea un buen viaje con un "Que tenga un buen viaje!" y, por la fuerza de la costumbre, por prisa, y por confundir tu respuesta con la que se usa ante un "Que tengas un buen día", le respondes al taxista incorrectamente con "Usted también!" 😅

I was in Mexico a month ago and I bought a cold coffee at Oxxo. Then I wanted to ask for a straw but I usually learn Spanish vocabulary, so I asked for a "pajita". The saleswoman looks at me strangely, so I repeat "pajita, pajita". Only then I explained that I wanted a narrow long thing for drinks, and she said "aah, popote".
Next day I told the story to a Mexican friend of mine and she explained to me what pajita means in Mexico.

Different words in different countries. I think “pajita” is correct in Spain.

Haha no se si en español tenemos la palabra “ fhart “ haha pero bueno después treinta segundos el oler is horrible y pues tenemos que salir porque eso oler y cada persona dice “ quien hizo esa “ hahahaha

Otro ejemplo del baño público …Odio las aberturas(?) en las puertas del cubículo (?) del baño y hay una persona esperando enfrente del cubículo. Me siento incómoda porque pienso que esta persona puede verme.

Un momento incomodo que me pasa es cuando se oye una persona dice “feliz cumpleaños” a una otra y ahora tiene que decidir si debería mentir y decir que lo te recuerda también.

Cuando voy al baño público y cuando estoy haciendo un pee y una persona al mi lado que está haciendo un pee tambien quieries hablar conmigo. Opuesto de cómodo. Te falta calle güey.
It's interesting to hear David pronouce the /dʒ/ in "joining" more like /j/ -- but in some phonological contexts in Spanish, I do think I have heard him pronounce /dʒ/ (or something close to it).

Cuándo intentabas decir algo en español en la tienda, o en cualquier lugar españohablante, y las palabras quedaban atrapadas en tu boca y todo que salir es basura. Cuando pasa me siento cómo un extranjero ignorante aunque ¡he estado intentando aprender!
