    journal entry (19/4/24):
    for the past week i've been a consuming, not-doing-anything rut. quite the contrary to what i usually am which is pretty much summed up by this video. im slowly getting out of it and back into it tho.
    "hustle" has gotten a bad rap lately, but i think ppl have gotten soft. ppl have dreams, i do as well, but they're not gonna make themselves, yknow? especially since it's so easy to become complacent a lot of us will never reach our full potential if we just slack off. i think maybe 80/20 or 90/20 balance between "working" (i put the " marks next to it cus i hate calling whatever i do "work". if u call it work then it may make it seem less enjoyable if u always say "i gotta do work". words r powerful) and not working. the thing is ppl think they can work for a couple hours, then "wind down/relax" by playing some video games, or consuming on social media. i disagree. there's no such thing as "free time". time is ur biggest asset, so why not use it to it's fullest extent? in the time im not spending on creating films, music, a business, or school, i'm at the gym, reading, walking, meditating, u get the idea. it's not directly "work", but it's still productive in a sense where I GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT. this is coming from someone who played pokemon, minecraft, and fortnite everyday for hours on end, but yknow, i think we could all be spending our time better. myself included. i still end up watching short films, how to do x thing on camera, or kanye west motivational clips on youtube. i'm human too. but the thing that separates me from u is my mindset. i don't think anyone else EVER, will think the way i do. im sorry, it sounds arrogant etc etc, but it's true. kanye had to sound like a narcissistic butt to get where he is today, but just look at his 2005 interview with charlie rose. he believe in himself TO THE FULLEST. i know u don't believe like ye does. i don't myself. but i'm slowly changing. not into arrogance, but confidence. if it takes me sacrificing my life now, then so be it. it's not like i'm devoiding myself of fun. creating music is fun (i do that in my "free" time). creating these films r HELLA fun. even running my own business is fun. the idea of wanting to do more is fun and exciting. i think what i'm caught up on right now is the fact that i'm paving my own path. it's lonely. it looks very different to what everyone else around me is doing. which is why i feel like this towards "productivity", but it has to be done. i gotta accept the life i'm living is different to everyone else's. and that's ok. as long as i enjoy the journey (which i slowly am). anyway that's all for this journal entry, 10k+ subs this quarter (april, may, june), i'm calling it. i want to do a charity event in the middle of the year (and when i hit 10k subs minimum as a requirement), so i have no choice but to work my ass off. that's 1 out of my 3 main goals of this year. i believe i can do it. luck is unfortunately involved (in this whole youtube "game"), but something my older brother told me is that:
    "yes luck exists. but u can create your own luck with hard work. take rubik's cube competitions. the best people in the world train every day to get better. to get a world record solve you have to get a lucky scramble. but you have to have the knowledge and skill to know how to execute it well. THAT comes from hard work"
    i kinda paraphrased but that's essentially what he said. time to get back to it. time to get out of this rut.

    Ari... how on earth does your videography get even better each time I watch one of your videos?!?! 😍This was absolutely amazing and sooo relatable! I completely get what you mean. It's really hard to find that balance between making too many sacrifices and not enough sacrifices, when it comes to working towards our future...🤦‍♀

    Yo bro, just take a look at this video for intro ideas. I havent watched much of your content so this was a pleasent suprise. I am just happy you managed to realise this *cough coughh* I told you this like 5 months back *cough cough* The video quality is so much better, just try and use 1 mic everywhere because the audio quality changes in the shots (especially in older videos)

    • @arikki.
      @arikki.  4 месяца назад +1

      yea in terms of mic i use my brother's mic, but he wanted to use it halfway thru recording so i had to improvise.

    First off, your parents are going to keep complaining, make it clear you are working and leave it there. The next thing I would say is if you feel bad for sacrificing simple things as playing with your brother, then go play with your brother. There is nothing wrong with being present and doing other things throughout your day from relaxing to hanging out with friends. You are not in competition with anybody, you don't need to catch up or keep pace with anyone but . Depending on your situation, it actually does make sense to dedicate solely to work if doing what is around you may be bad vices and influences that negatively impact and no good for your life. But if you are in a situation like plenty of people where you have good friends around you, hobbies, commitments, and things outside of work/hustling, then keep maintaining them and giving those things your time.
    Find a balance in your life.
    Because you may not need to be rushing so much and having urgency when you can take your time. For someone like me, doing anything outside of business, content creation, my routine, etc are going to do nothing for my current life in terms of benefiting my social life, or my life mentally, physically, or financially. In my case, it makes for me to dedicate myself to fixing these things and make something for myself to flourish to an better environment that I harmonize with. You may already have an environment that is already nurturing to you as a person, you can stay there. It's all simply a question of urgency and how important is achieving a new environment and life is to you if your current life is comfortable and caters to the needs you have in life. 👍🏼👍🏼

    • @arikki.
      @arikki.  4 месяца назад +1

      agree but also disagree. you're so right apart from "you are not in competition with anybody". i am in competition with literally everyone else. life is a competition. if kanye west didn't put all the hours into making beats when he was young, someone else would've taken his place (someone equally as crazy but truthful). whether u like it or not everything is a competition with someone, or yourself (not to be like all "goggins" rn but yknow)

    Enjoy your life, especially when you in your teenage years

    • @arikki.
      @arikki.  4 месяца назад +2

      tru, that's what all the adults say to me, but:
      1: for what? so i can just end up working in my adult life instead of "enjoying it"?
      2: even tho for others what i do could be considered "work", i don't (not saying that u specifically do tho). if i say it's "work" then it'll lead me to want to do it less yknow? it relates to ali abdaal's book "feel good productivity" (which i briefly mention), of enjoying what you're doing, even if it's mundane.
      much love

      ty!! i use a 20 dollar tripod, and my older brother's light, with some free luts i found online cus idk how to make my own (for colour grading). i spent all my savings on a sony camera (zve1, wrong choice, could've gotten a Sony Alpha A7 IV, which is most likely way better, but it's my first real camera, i'll get that one later lol).
      if u or anyone reading this reply wants to start, don't be limited by what u have. if u have a phone then that's all u really need (iphones r super good nowadays anyway so u don't even need an expensive camera). casey neistat said something about, using the best equipment you have and making the best out of it. if that means using ur phone and capcut then so be it.
