I love how it's hard to tell if he genuinely doesn't know how revered he is, or if he's just being humble about being a cornerstone of one of the biggest sci fi franchises of all time. 😄
The music at the end of the first Terminator with the storm coming in. Talk about mood, talk about atmosphere. That’s as good as any moment in cinema history.
When I was 15, I watched T2 first and I didn't give a damn about the main theme. Then, one night, while the whole family was asleep, I started watching T1 on VHS in middle of the dark. After the prologue had faded out, followed with the 5 "mechanical heart beats", the main melody came in like a soft breeze tickling my two young ears ! I was enchanted by the moment, immersed into a trance with a huge WTF moment on my face LoL. It was magical and I wish I could relive that moment again. Thus, my love for the sound of the synthesizer after that inauguration. Thanks Brad for that memory.😍🤩😍🤩
I missed his music in T3 SOOO MUCH! And magic suddenly was there when I incorporated T1 and T2 scores into a couple of T3 clips. He was 50 % of the success of those films.
People salivate over Brad's work on Terminator but I hardly ever see anyone mention his superb work on Fright Night. He even sang on a track. Dude is an absolute legend. Check out "Come to Me".
Brad Fiedel, what a character! And what a composer! I can tell you this Mr Fiedel if you ever were to read this: That I'm so thankful for your re-release of the Terminator soundtrack. It has been the main inspiration for me starting to work with synths and I couldn't thank you enough for it! :)
T2:3-D was a really staggering experience, and I saw it as often as I could while I lived in Orlando. It was the first time I saw 70mm, and the 3-D 70mm was one of the most immersive experiences you could imagine.
He doesn't get enough credit for T-1000's theme aswell. I actually think his un involvement in the terminator series after 2 is part of the reason why the series went down the pan imo
Writers/Directors are the 'fathers' of a movie composers are the 'mothers' they create the heart & soul of a film and Brad Fiedel created an emblematic and legendary soundtrack for the Terminator Saga We thank him beyond time for that
I find it so cool to actually hear composers talk; they're such an under-appreciated part of the mechanism that makes a film work. Bad music can make a film so much worse than it would otherwise be if everything else worked properly. At the very least, it makes you wonder what could've been if a more fitting composer, or, frankly, a better composer had been picked. (This is why we need to bring the concept of giving new scores to silent films, and expand it to, well, all movies. But I digress!) Now I can't help but wonder, was the music for the ride ever released? If not, that needs to change. Put it on an EP or something; friggin' Bandcamp, I dunno - just get it out there! Also I love his blue glasses. Very charming!
I love how Brad gets excited as he's recalling, and then he suddenly remembers something else he wants to share with us. For a man who created some of the most iconic film music, he still seems excited by being in the movie industry.
Brad Fiedel's a living legend and absolute gem. When I watched that T2-3D in Universal Studios in Orlando WAY back, I just had to go into the "ride" again. It was just SO cool. The whole experience of the various actors when they come from the screen to running past your seat. Incredible aye! 😄😊 Great interview video Ollie 👍
I've listened to the Terminator and T2 soundtracks many, many times (including tracks taken directly from the movies but not included in the official soundtracks), love them. Nice to see an interview with the composer, and great stories about T2-3D, looks like the team were playing with a lot of new experimental and fun toys :)
Film, TV, and game scores are where the real musical composition magic happens in the world today in my opinion. All these popular musicians making “popular” music are dime a dozen in comparison. Thank goodness our niche is growing and getting recognized.
The score from The Terminator is tied with the Vince DiCola's score for Rocky 4 as my favorite soundtrack-score of all time. Even T2's score doesn't compare for me. It's great hearing Brad talk about all this stuff. I just hate that when The terminator FINALLY got a full score release, it's still missing certain elements that are only heard in the ORIGINAL MONO audio version of the movie. We still don't have the TRUE version of the "escape from the police station" cue where it's heard exactly as it is in the film. Nor the proper film version ending of the truck chase when the pipe bomb explodes (even the in the movie itself, the version in the 5.1 mix sounds different than the original mono version). That's ok though, fans who are musicians pick up the ball and do it instead (if you're a fan of the soundtrack, you can find them here on youtube).
This man is a true legend and it’s a shame he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. The Terminator soundtrack is a masterpiece and he did it in his garage. Amazing interview and great video
Fright Night. I would love to hear his insight during the recording of the main theme which played during Jerry Dandridges scenes so good! he seems very modest and unassuming hence he may not expect a question focusing on his work in that film 📽️ 🎶
James Cameron's films just aren't the same without Brad's contributions. The "L.A. River" scene in T2 is one of the finest examples of how soundtracks should be done during action sequences to this day.
The sound in those theaters were LOUD!!! I remember I was 9 years old when I saw it in the theater with my family. It was so loud I covered my ears a lot!!! Amazing movie!! We saw it a again a week later!!!!
I love how it's hard to tell if he genuinely doesn't know how revered he is, or if he's just being humble about being a cornerstone of one of the biggest sci fi franchises of all time. 😄
2:44 oh man, The Man doesn't even know what an idol he is for so many people. One of the best composers EVER.

One of my favorite composer and sad he is retired in 99, he was amazing, still to this day his Terminator 1 and 2 score are just so iconic.
I missed his music in T3 SOOO MUCH! And magic suddenly was there when I incorporated T1 and T2 scores into a couple of T3 clips. He was 50 % of the success of those films.

Sensational soundtrack pal 👍
Terminator Theme still gives me chills.
Honorable mentions to The Serpent and the Rainbow, and of course True Lies! Just amazing stuff, the percussions are so Fiedel.
His music was so hypnotic it T2.
Brad Fiedel, what a character! And what a composer!

This guy is a fuking genius. He is on my amazing composer list alongside the greatest, ennio, zimmer, basil P, vangelis and others.
I wish they would release the T2-3D: Battle Across Time soundtrack, as there some really good stuff there
The Terminator theme is probably the most Iconic theme tune in sci-fi. Classic tune.
@Mister Mystery Absolutely

I am so, _so_ glad I got the chance to see T2-3D when I was a kid.

His work for T2 is massively great! I love Brad Fiedel's scores for Terminator 2.. i listen to them from time to time.

I still listen to Brad's T2 score, masterpiece just like the film
I love how Brad gets excited as he's recalling, and then he suddenly remembers something else he wants to share with us. For a man who created some of the most iconic film music, he still seems excited by being in the movie industry.
I could listen to him for hours. Very interesting guy. Thanks a lot for releasing the deleted scene.
Greetings from Germany :)
Wow, great interview with the great Brad Fiedel!! Thanks for sharing from your awesome doco Oliver!
Hardly any Brad Fidel content on t'Tube, well done Man!
The main theme of the first Terminator is the musical path of my early life.
Great interview video Ollie 👍
I wish we could get a release of his score for the 3D attraction. But, I guess its lost now
I've listened to the Terminator and T2 soundtracks many, many times (including tracks taken directly from the movies but not included in the official soundtracks), love them.
Nice to see an interview with the composer, and great stories about T2-3D, looks like the team were playing with a lot of new experimental and fun toys :)
Have you seen the making of T2 3D? There’s a song that starts at the 7:00 minute mark, do you recognize it? I can’t
Watched the documentary over the weekend. You did a fantastic job. Well done.
Thank you Mr. Harper for this interesting clip.
I learned a lot in 7 minutes :)

Always love seeing great creators enthused about aiming for the top
Did that ride twice. It was incredible.
His score for The Accused is haunting.
So random but so appreciated, thanks Oliver!❤
This man is a true legend and it’s a shame he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. The Terminator soundtrack is a masterpiece and he did it in his garage.
Amazing interview and great video
Danny Elfman and Brad Fiedel to me they are the BEST ever.
PROFOUNDLY influential. He's gotta know how his work inspired a generation or two.
When can we get a 4K box set comprised of T1, T2 and T2-3D?
Maybe throw in salvation, this is the only terminator box set I want as a fan.
Use Salvation as a drink coaster and you're good to go🤣
Fiedel understood what those 2 films where. He understood it had to be sad.
As a fan T2-3D was a great experience.
The 3rd movie we should've got.
Bless his heart.
Fright Night. I would love to hear his insight during the recording of the main theme which played during Jerry Dandridges scenes so good! he seems very modest and unassuming hence he may not expect a question focusing on his work in that film 📽️ 🎶
You can’t have a discussion about the greatest scores of all time without mentioning Brad Fiedel.
Thought he would be more famous and would have done more soundtracks. A real pro in any case.
I'm still hoping that his score for Striking Distance will get a full release one day
02:45; this moment is in the credits.
Absolute legend!!
James Cameron's films just aren't the same without Brad's contributions. The "L.A. River" scene in T2 is one of the finest examples of how soundtracks should be done during action sequences to this day.
The movie's music is cool and efficiant, like a machine!
I put him in the living film score legend category.
This stuff is way more interesting than the documentary itself, which felt a bit to wide and aimless.
T2 theme is BADASS
Wish all his stuff was available to buy.
Great stuff!
T2 soundtrack is within top 5 of the entire movie history.
Awesome.
The sound in those theaters were LOUD!!! I remember I was 9 years old when I saw it in the theater with my family. It was so loud I covered my ears a lot!!! Amazing movie!! We saw it a again a week later!!!!
Legend
a legend
terminator epicccccccccccc
Did these guys invent Dolby Atmos?
That's exactly what I thought when he mentioned the overhead channels!
Excellent😎👍
Musicians rule!!
Pity it wasn't a PROPER third movie (again) 😂
Funny enough, this short is the closest sequel-thing that we have lol
🎵👍👍👍
T2 T3d rockssssssssssss
'He was my college roommate.'
He also scored the TimeCop tv show from 1997. Not very good btw.
does Brad live in the United kingdom now
No. He lives in California with his wife and children.
He was an 1982 Grammy Award nominee.
T2 3D was awesome at Universal in Hollywood. Shame they replaced it with that lame Michael Bay Transformers ride.
