    most people dont know this but i invented this move in 1984. I was seven at the time. A girl and I were on the playground....long story we ended up in 50-50 guard which i didnt even know was called that at the time.....I admit, I got the grips simply by chance coincidence. I really didnt know why. Anyhow she actually SPIT on me!!! when she went to spit again I inverted out of intuition and ended up taking her back and choking her unconscious. The police came. I was suspended for a month. BUT the school actually had an old camcorder and it was being used by another student and he captured the berimbolo in the background....I ended up studying this VHS tape over and over again through my teen years. I knew I had something special. But I was a goofy awkward virgin and never made anything of it. Long story short, parents gave a box of my stuff away to goodwill with the VHS and I suspect that is how Samuel braga got his hands on my move.....

    Super! You succeed to keep the teaching incremental and simple! Not a grappler (yet) but having taught karate since 1995 I find it disturbing how nuance based grappling tutorials are: forgetting the big picture and learning the basics and just keeping on babbling of the tiny case specific details, which shows lack of understanding how to teach skills. Gross motors always first!

Eventually the teacher has to come over because he's worried about me getting hurt. Please help me learn a technique to counter that.

    I love the drilling technique with the ball, but, as far as learning the berimbolo, the best way to learn it is to start doing it from top position. from mount, side, half, and quarter.

    • @mikebob6464
      @mikebob6464 10 лет назад +7

      You wouldn't, its purely a sport BJJ move. In MMA you'd never ever give up position like that, youd get smashed in the face

    • @xfbagnomx
      @xfbagnomx 10 лет назад

      I always grab the hip furthest from me. You don't necessarily need a grip to start the roll. I land this in NoGi all the time.

    • @ManifoldSky
      @ManifoldSky 10 лет назад

      Mike Hauben You can make that comment about any technique., However, in real world applications, it is not quite that simple. In this case, attempting to bend down to punch someone in the face like that will either get you rolled that much more quickly, to kicked in the face.

    lol i thought i was the only one!!! Whenever i go for oldschool i get stacked and darced. This only happens w/ 2 specific rolling partners but still its frustrating. A few times i had luck by feinting a sweep and then committing to a roll on the side they are trying to choke me from, it kinda put me in a weird trunk position that didnt give me much though lol.
