    after the roll, why would he bring the closer leg's shin behind the knee then go back to get the twister hook. why not just go straight for the twister hook with the closer leg?

    • @NicholasSalles
      @NicholasSalles 7 лет назад +11

      1) He says the common way might not be as effective against opponents who are significantly bigger, thus using pure legwork instead of relying on arms to pull the hip up aka "car jacking". 2) In my opinion, if you have lankier legs, like Gianni, using that shin behind the knee to create the angle needed to get your leg in is a cleaner way of getting the twister hook. If you watch Musumeci, he likes to clamp the person down by stomping/ramping using the butt grip but this can be hard to do depending on the person's reaction, so it's always good to have a second option.

    does this twister hook require flexibility, i just can't get it

    • @tor678
      @tor678 4 года назад +2

      Flexibility helps, but mainly you need angle. Look at his hips...they're facing about 90 degrees away from Bernardo's hips before he sets up the twister hook, and close to 45 degrees after

    I have a real big problem with the twister hook even after watching this. I can’t seem to get a deep hook and my heel always ends up on the shin and even if I get the hook in it takes farrrrr to long to get. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and I’ve drilled his for hours trying to get the hook in but I just can’t, is there a tip I’m missing or am I just dumb. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

      Everyone here seems to have a problem with the twister hook. You need to get your hips higher off the ground so you can bring your hips closer to the guy's leg. When his leg is close to your hip/between your legs, it's super easy to get the twister hook. If you can't get the twister hook, it just means there is too much space between your hips and the opponent.
