  • This video I breakdown the foundations of developing a berimbolo. There is so many different variations you can use I wanted to create a simple starting system anyone can use to start learning this sequence. In the future I will do a follow up video overviewing the crab ride and leg drag series as well.

      Thanks buddy! There is actually so much more to the bolo than this, it was just a simple intro honestly. I wouldn’t do anything on this topic for instructional for quite a while. You should check out Espen Mathiesen instructional though it’s really good.

    This is so well organized. These positions can be so hard to mentally map out and understand, and the way you break it down makes it easy to digest. I love the suggested training portion as well. You are an amazing instructor!

    Amazing stuff :) I've generally avoided delariva and super grippy hook type techniques because I don't feel like I have the best curl with my toes ("hammer toes" - they curl down, rather than up). Reviewing this again, I'm wondering... What's *your* perspective on the criticality of the toes and how they curl/hook, for positions like this and others?

    Keenan Cornelius and others say the Berimbolo doesn't work. Should I take time to learn it anyway? Probably they are saying it doesn't work at the highest levels. But, good idea to practice anyway at a lower level? Or is Berimbolo no longer worth getting good at?

    • @JonThomasBJJ
      @JonThomasBJJ  Год назад +1

      Berimbolo is 100 percent worth investing time in. Mikey Muscimeci won more world titles than any other American and did it almost completely with Berimbolo. Bolo crab ride is even used no gi. It works at the top level and honestly I just don’t understand someone saying the opposite when there is so much evidence that it works in black belt world title finals.
